Participant@davidtcarson I thought this theme was for use with 1.5?? If so, I don’t know why it isn’t working on my 1.5 b2 install.
Please clarify… is your theme for use with BuddyPress 1.9.2, 1.5 b2, or this trunk version you just shared? Do you have a link to current/detailed install directions? Thanks.

Participant@davidtcarson thanks but I’m now rereading my post and it looks like a screwed the terminology all up in trying to refer to the Custom Header link under Appearance -> Header as the wp-admin “menu item”. hehe. Not the frontend navigation menu.
Just how there is a Appearance -> Background, I thought that there was also a Appearance-> Header to customize the bp-default header’s color/image background. I’m not seeing it.

ParticipantThis has been fixed since BP 1.5b2 was released.

Participant@pjnu To use the theme prior the official BuddyPress 1.5 release, you must consistently update both BuddyPress (https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk) and Frisco (https://github.com/davidtcarson/frisco).
The BuddyPress team is making updates everyday to BuddyPress 1.5. And I am making updates almost every day to the theme. If your BuddyPress version has not been updated or the theme has not been updated, you should expect to see strange results.
This will all settle down once BuddyPress 1.5 is released and Frisco theme is in the WordPress theme repository.

Participant@pjnu What version of BuddyPress and WordPress are you using?
“Frisco requires BuddyPress 1.5 and WordPress 3.2.1 or 3.3 (nightly build).”

MemberSorry to post so much, but I found what the problem was. It’s a plugin called “Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack”. It was really useful because I can use MAMP + wordpress on firefox, but it went rogue.
So now here’s the new problem: How do I work on my wordpress/buddypress on firefox? Because now I get this like before:
“The page isn’t redirecting properly.
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”Tammie Lister
ModeratorThe PollDaddy one springs to mind: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/polldaddy/, maybe that does what you are looking for?

Member@djpaul @Stigmartyr all right, I think this isn’t a permalinks issue. I deleted ALL of my posts, making my homepage naked except for the slideshow (now empty), menu bar and widgets. Now when I click on a page (say about), I get
Quote:Not FoundSorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.
Any ideas on what the problem is?
Or should I create a new topic?August 21, 2011 at 10:36 pm #118812In reply to: 100,000 Members Moved from Ning – Mega Site!

ParticipantNice job!
Having just migrated my 40k members over from vbulletin into the new bbpress plugin, my next step is to work with adding buddypress.
I would love to read a post someday about what you went through in getting the network setup correctly and any battles you are still fighting. (esp bp related as I have a strong grasp of wpmu already)
I am not on a shared host, but rather run clusters of dedicated servers so cpu/bw is not an issue.

Participant@alfredojp this code below is working for me well (the same as above but exact PHP code without WP-BP destroying PHP codes) and is saving all my fields:
download here:
http://pastebin.com/download.php?i=X2tn22ysWe only need to find the way how to display those fields publicly in groups-header.php.
@modemlooper – Thank you for your checkbox code I will check it out tomorrow and if working I will implement it into the code above. Checkboxes will help me a lot.

ModeratorNo, there really isn’t a BuddyPress commerce solution for each individual.
You might want to connect with @justbishop who has created a Etsy type BuddyPress site http://www.riotcart.com
she might be able to give you some pointers.
I know the wp-ecommerce guys were wanting to expand their plugin but I think there needs to be a complete front end solution for BuddyPress users to sell things.

Member@djpaul What specifically would you like to see?
Under my htaccess file, I have
bp-maintenance.php
bps-maintenance-values.php
default.htaccess
deny-all.htaccess
maintenance.htaccess
secure.htaccess
wpadmin-secure.htaccessdefault.htaccess looks like this:
`# BULLETPROOF .46.D >>>>>>> DEFAULT .HTACCESS
# If you edit the line of code above you will see error messages on the BPS status page
# WARNING!!! THE default.htaccess FILE DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR WEBSITE AGAINST HACKERS
# This is a standard generic htaccess file that does NOT provide any website security
# The DEFAULT .HTACCESS file should be used for testing and troubleshooting purposes only# BEGIN WordPress
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]# END WordPress

It runs Apache and MySQL.August 21, 2011 at 2:52 am #118790In reply to: [Resolved} Help with Permalinks?

Member@esploded – thanks for sharing that info – can you tell us more about your hosting solution? Are you on a linux or windows server and specifically are you using Apache or IIS. You can ask your host.
In my reading I’ve found some guides that might help with that depending on what you have handling your http requests.

MemberI don’t know why it does it either.
But I’ve found that it works if you make the ‘groups’ tab link to: http://YOURSITE.com/groups/?s=
It’s weird, I know.

Memberhi london pings,
i see that you managed to get it done on your website? mind sharing how you managed to get the avatar displayed but not the “profile” and the “update” posted to show warning to non-registered users? i would like to do the same with my buddypress site too (dont worry it has nothing to do with bbm so not a rival site
). THanks in advance.August 20, 2011 at 10:11 pm #118784In reply to: [Resolved} Help with Permalinks?
