@burtadsit: blog_by_email works just in WordPress, not in WordPress MU or i found no possibility to include this function via WPMU-Plugin. But that is not the right forum for WPMU – Plugin discussions..

Well, you’re in luck. I was tooling around this morning on an unrelated matter and found this goodie.

    https://iphone.wordpress.org/

Introducing the first Open Source app that lets you write posts, upload photos, and edit your WordPress blog from your iPhone or iPod Touch. With support for both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (2.5.1 or higher), users of all experience levels can get going in seconds.

    Imagine that.

    I filled correct username.

And composed a Messege, when hit the button Send. It told me:

“Message could not be sent, please try again.”

So when should I try again?

Same error as when I post in Forum.. it says can not post this Topic. Looks like BuddyPress is not in a good mood ;)

    Regards

Strange you are seeing these problems, I decided to set up a fresh install WPMU 2.6.x and the BuddyPress combo beta1.

Firstly, the auto-complete doesn’t just complete on user’s names – it actually finds users based on their profile data too. Try it. It’s confusing and probably shouldn’t be like that, but I just reused the member search function for now. That should clear that up.

I tried creating two users and making them friends, the auto complete seemed to work both on Firefox and Safari. Are you using IE6? I can’t confirm it works in IE6, but I definitely got it working in IE7 before I tagged the beta.

Group creation seemed to work fine, when not uploading an group avatar, actually uploading an avatar – and also both with and without inviting friends. I did notice that two finish buttons displayed with the invite link, this is definitely a bug.

All I can really say is – try clearing your browser cache – perhaps you have old JS cached? I did change the messaging JS to a PHP file that dynamically loads some variables and then sends as a JS file. If you are using IE6 – don’t. Not with the beta.

Hopefully not everyone else is getting these problems, otherwise we’re going to see beta 2 pretty quickly.

You looking for an app that runs on a cellphone I take it? I don’t even own a cellphone so I can’t help ya. Any phone that can send email and attach a pic should do it. I found this:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_by_Email

It’s got nothing to do with cellphones but it tells us how to setup wp to accept blog posts by email. I tried it and it works slick.

Yep, same here. Here’s my post from the other thread w/ some details on my problems:

Since upgrading to the latest components I’ve been running into a lot of errors and bugs, particularly with the messaging component.

First and most importantly I am unable to send messages. This problem leads me to the second issue I’m facing which is that the auto-complete is not working as expected.

A user first emailed me about this on my live site and I first verified the issue there. Basically it’s impossible to send messages to anyone, the page just reloads, the message is erased, and an error that reads “Message could not be sent, please try again” is displayed. I erased all of my BuddyPress files, uploaded the latest trunk (which I was already running) and permissioned them to 755, then re-tested and the problem is still present.

In an attempt to see if it was my install specifically I installed MU on another domain, uploaded the files, and tested there and received the same error. Messaging was working on my install even with the latest files then suddenly quit.

Onto my second issue, the auto-complete feature doesn’t seem to be working properly at all. I ran into this on both my live site and test site as well as on TestBP.org. Basically when typing a name into “Send to” field the result don’t necessarily begin or even contain the typed letter. For example if I type the letter “A” on testbp.org the first result is Andy, as expected, but the second is “Robert Popovic (phlux0r)”, which clearly doesn’t contain an A at all. The next two results contain the letter A but don’t start with it. At first I though perhaps it only auto-completed the names of friends, which it may, but on my live site I have a friend named “justin” but when I enter the letter J another user without a J, “ryanmoney”, is the only one that displays.

Anyways, I can offer a lot more details if needed but I wanted to share the vitals and see if anyone else ran into this. If not, I’ll file a ticket but my hope is I’m not the only one.

Nope. You are not the only one. Strange behavior in messaging. Ya, autocomplete only looks at your friends list. That’s easily fixable. I was having probs sending msgs to valid usernames. No messages sent. No error msg.

I musta posted right after you. Been impatient and cranky lately. Not scanning the forums before I post. Happens when I can’t get a major feature like groups and messaging to work right.

You can search the forums at buddypress.org/forums/search.php, but you have to access that URL directly.

    Working on the search.

Can you post this in trac please? There are already functions to do this, they just need to be called on particular activity hooks. https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket

i was thinking in something totally non exclusive

as sending invites to selected contacts in gmail, hotmail, yahoo, Hi5 or other contact platforms.

if automatic want to develop their own buddypress platform such thing will be released.

cookie integration still do not work but i can post in forums on my test install :)

Yep, I’ve had buddypress working fine until I started trying to integrate bbpress. I followed the instructions at https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/trunk/bp-forums/installation-readme.txt

which were simply great. Everything is fresh. I’m wondering if the combo install is the problem. It does say somewhere to use the trunk of buddypress for bbpress. I got so excited seeing a beta though, just had to try it.

    those paths sounds good

    Here are my paths:

    wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-member/

    wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/

usually do not put buddypress home in member-themes/

have you tried bbpress and wpmu inegration ?

burtadsit, I am totally confused and brain dead.

    Excuse my ignorance.

    Here are my paths:

    wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-member/

    wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/

    From install instructions:

Move the “buddypress-home” folder to “wp-content/themes/” and move the “member-themes” folder to “wp-content”.

You should now have the following folder locations “wp-content/themes/buddypress-home” and “wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home”.

How does buddypress-home get in both paths? See, I’m brain dead.

good arturo, i think i’ll release my code on my blog http://notsecurity.com and there i’ll publicize it ;) I don’t write code for others, i write code for me, then, if buddypressers use it, good, isn’t it ?

I’m watching on register plus, i think it’s a good plugin, is it released under gpl ? I’ll see that, bye!

Once again. You have a config problem. This is the same path you mentioned in another message as having a different problem. I explained there also that:

    /wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/…

Is not a valid path for bp.

The only thing under /wp-content/member-themes is /wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-member/…

I keep getting the same answer everywhere. Maybe I should explain better.

It does not matter who I log in as. I can only edit the last post that I made on every account. The admin can edit all ADMIN posts but only the last post on all other accounts.

I am sure that it is a wordpress problem and not buddypress but I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this.

I already tried re-installing wordpress and I get the same error.

Boy, I thought this was going to be a go until I got this: when trying to create a group:

Warning: require_once(/home/ramona/public_html/wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/index.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/ramona/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 822

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/ramona/public_html/wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/index.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/ramona/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 822

I’m logged into buddypress as the admin

I just installed fresh this morning – buddypress-combo

    Fresh install of bbpress-1.0-alpha-4

Fresh install of wpmu trunk r1574

As a side note I also got an error trying to access user account, but I’ve posted that elsewhere here.

It looks like it’s almost pudding, but not quite. What am I missing?
