ParticipantI am new to bbPress but not WP and have BuddyPress moving along nicely. If BP already has forums for each group then why do we need bbPress? Added forum functionality vis a vis a replacement of the BP forums or do both coexist side by side in BP?

KeymasterIt’s entirely permissions. Make sure everything in the theme and any JS/CSS in buddypress is 755.

ParticipantSame here bebopcool, I’m running the new bbPress zip and the trunk WPMU and BuddyPress and have successfully integrated users but can’t get the cookies to work, which I assume is what’s preventing the forum from working. I too have the forum on the group page, but posting on fails.
I can login with my admin account and the new bbpress admin and post directly to the forum but it doesn’t seem to be communicating with BuddyPress.

it tried to post with the bdpress forum user and logged manually with the same user in bbpress but it is still not working

ParticipantYeah, BuddyPress is definitely seems appropriate for this project. Most everything you mentioned is already in BP or in the works. Even if it’s not, WPMU is easy enough to build on that you could add any remaining features easily.

ParticipantTo be clear I’m using the latest WPMU and r658 of BuddyPress. Also, though I said above member-themes didn’t work when I followed the readme instructions and so I moved it to wp-content/themes/, I’ve since moved it back to follow the readme instructions exactly. Things still not looking right. Help?

MemberI agree. I would consider throwing in a few bucks. Their are a few plugins already created that work with MU, however they need to be buddypress friendly.

KeymasterFor people that it is not working for: Are you sure the new user you created in bbpress for BuddyPress to use has admin privileges in bbPress? Basically the account that you enter into site admin > group forums?

Participantbebopcool: “i cannot make the user created for buddypress in bbpress an admin as i cannot access to bbpres user profile (it gives a 404 error on every user imported from wordpress)”
That’s what happens to me, too.
The forums are with the groups now, but no posts can be added.

ParticipantSame, the groups forums be created but I cannot create topics in groupes forums.
And I have an error,
when i go to http://www.domain.tld/wp-admin/options.php
Warning: array_search() [function.array-search]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /home/*******/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 1044
I don’t have any plugin installed , only Buddypress.

Participantwpmu trak version 1574
bbpress 1.0 alpha 2
buddypress 658
pb with cookie integration between bbpress and wordpress
i cannot make the user created for buddypress in bbpress an admin as i cannot access to bbpres user profile
(it gives a 404 error on every user imported from wordpress)
it tried to use the bbpress integration function that allows to give a role to wordpress users :
the new forumbdpress is put as an administrator in wpmu
but he does not appear as an administrator is bbpress
surely those pb are not directly linked with your plugin
but it makes it working not properly :
the groups forums seems to be created but
i cannot create topics in groupes forums

ParticipantIt doesn’t look like you have things configured quite right yet.
The bp home theme shouldn’t be in: /wp-content/member-themes it should be in: /wp-content/themes
The bp member theme should be in: /wp-content/member-themes
What is confusing to me is that it’s reporting an error looking for *anything* in /wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/. That directory path doesn’t exist. Shouldn’t exist.

ParticipantI’m at a total loss. This navigation bar used to work for me until about trunk r571 or so.
I took out my MU plugins one by one and without affecting any change on the navigation bar. Still blank screens.
The BP member theme is here: /wp-content/themes/member-themes/buddypress-member. That’s right?
I am not getting any error messages (as you can see above).
I can’t think of anything else to try. (I haven’t yet added the forum because I’d like to get this working again).
If you would take a look: http://gnowfglins.net/.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate any you can give!

ParticipantThese are the errors I’m getting and they ARE theme related:
[Fri Dec 12 06:21:47 2008] [error] [client 166.129.121.43] File does not exist: …/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/images/background.gif, referer: http://…/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/style.css
[Thu Dec 11 21:43:13 2008] [error] [client 166.129.9.233] File does not exist: …/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/custom-styles.css, referer: http://…/wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/style.css
I’ll go hunt down those files, I guess. Beats me why they haven’t been going over with the rest of the files every time I update the trunk.

MemberI have the same problem. I just updated my Buddypress with r658 and the problem is still there.

MemberYes I moved the theme into the wp-content just the way I did last time but with this trunk the theme doesn’t even show up in the back end of wpmu. When you go to sitemap>buddypress there is no them showing.
December 11, 2008 at 10:55 pm #34259In reply to: Anything like BP w/out needing WPMU?

ParticipantThe transition from WordPress to WPMU is really simple. I did it in a few hours and there’s tons of resources out there on how to do it. Let me know if you want me to link some up and I can definitely do that.
As for your question, there’s no plugins I know for regular WordPress to add BuddyPress-like functionality, but Ning.com and KickApps.com may be worth looking into.

ParticipantThis is a windows file name problem. loader.php was looking for forward slashes in a directory name and getting backslashes in windows.
Trac has a patch:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/223
I gotta switch over to a linux dev server. But I really like my Vaio running windows. I’ll just buy another domain and hook it up to the DV server. $10 won’t break me. It does mean that I won’t be able to do laundry this week though.
