Actually, it would be the other way around. dbDelta is actually a wordpress function that plugins can call to get upgraded. Andrew mentioned that this would all be sorted out with a plan to address buddypress by the multi-db 2.8 release. The reason you have to comment out all the dbDelta lines of code is due to a compatibility error that will fill your errors logs
As well, the search breaks with multi-db since it needs to call more than 1 database since one is global and one is for specific users information, it fails. It tries to find a member specific query in the global DB (since that is the one that is called first) and can’t find the info which causes an error.
The multi-db code also puts all user activity tables in the same DB right now (since it can’t spread them around without code to do so), so the only benefit you get is if you need this solution for multiple blogs. It actually created them all in the global DB when I used the move-blogs tool, but wanted to find them in the same DB as main blog. I had to copy all the user activity tables to that DB for it to work. If you start with a fresh install, it will create them in the right DB straight away.
Summing up, by WPMU and multi-db 2.8 and a 1.0 BP final release, it will draw more attention so that the solutions will have a clear goal to shoot for. This is a topic better suited in the Premium wpmudev forums as well I think. Glad to discuss it further there!

I read the post about BuddyPress and WordPressMU, and i’ve a question about the feature that allows install, download and update BuddyPress through WPMU backend in WordPressMU language?
For example, I have installed WPMU in Italian, I can install BP in Italian from the backend of WPMU? Or must still rely on the sites of translation like buddypress-it.it for the Italian language and then insert the files in bp-languages?

I’m not sure if this should go here, wpmu, or bbpress, but I can’t find a solution anywhere. I’m running wpmu 2.7, buddypress & bbpress 0.9.0.4 And cannot get integration to work, cannot login a user (except keymaster) in bbpress, group forums (which is what I really want) in buddypress do not work. I’ve tried some suggestions on the forums, think it’s a problem with the SECRET_KEY, database key, cookies thing. I have many keys in my wp-config file, no “entry” key in my wp options.php. Have not found a clear explanation of how to get this working, the docs steps don’t work. Any help? Anyone else having this problem?

Hi,
i just installed BuddyPress without any problems. Everythink works, except:
After activating my own theme, i can’t open my home directory. http://mydomain.com/blog redirects me to http://mydomain.com/blog/members/admin/
everything is 755… i even copied the plugin-sidebar.php and plugin-template.php
does anyone know where the problem ist?

This is a super cool plugin. It allows you to offer an upgrade plan which turns off advertising, increases a users storage space, etc.. Im not sure if its buddypress friendly yet, but it seems like it would fit well in some buddypress developer plans.

Topic: buddypress +multi-db issues
I was planning on using the multi-db plugin for my wordpressmu + buddypress website.
However, on their forums I am told the following
You can use multi-DB with BP, BUT you may have to create the global BP tables manually.
Once they are created , BP should run fine. The other thing that you should do once the
tables are created is go through the main BP files and comment out all of the dbDelta
lines of code (one for each BP global table)
Are there plans to fix buddypress so that it will work properly with a multi-db setup?
Buddypress was working great and then I upgraded the plugins to the latest version and now I am experiencing an issue. If I try to go to any blog posts from the main blog, it will redirect to the current user’s profile. If the user isn’t logged in, it prompts them to sign in. The issue doesn’t occur with member blogs, only the main blog. Any ideas on what’s happening here? I have MU setup with directories and the main blog has a permalink structure of “/blog/%category%/%postname%”.
