? what mode are you running BP in please – devil is in the detail we need detail on forum posts to be able to help.

The BP placeholder pages are meant to be empty, 1.7 theme compatibility uses page.php as it’s template wrapper, if you want to customize the BP aspects you can overload page.php with buddypress.php either in root theme or in dir under it named ‘buddypress’ or ‘community’ Check the codex for a fuller explanation.

@dnbrawler Re: unable to see an options to attribute my Forums Page with the Buddypress Forums.
I was thinking of the old groups forums re BP Pages, disregard this, my bad.

The 3rd point you prescribed is what my settings are right now and what is causing the “redirecting” load problem.

Based on your original post above, you have /forum/ not /forums/ as your Archive Slugs->Forums base. What’s in your Settings > Forums > Single Slugs -> ___? If it’s the default /forum/ then there could be a conflict.

I have sitewide forums and group forums on and everything is updated to its’ latest.

I think the problem may be the fact that I’m not super admin. I deleted the original “admin” account as a security precaution and udpated my current user as administrator.

    – WP 3.5 aboe or 3.5.1? BP version?
    – Did you upgrade from BP 1.6.5 or is this a new BP 1.7.1 installation? That is, do you have the old BP Group Forums installed or is your issue with the bbPress plugin sitewide or group forums?
    – If sitewide forums, did you create a new Page for your forums and add the forum index shortcode? If you did, you should use the same Page slug, e.g. discussions, in the Settings > Forums – Forum Archive slug (which should also be the same, e.g. discussions)?

Thanks Peter for the suggestion, none of those methods worked. I really need to fix this problem, I can’t use the /forum root for my forums index. The load time is too much. Is there another alternative?

I’m still having this problem unfortunately. But now I’m not so sure if it’s because of BuddyPress or bbPress.

I’ve had to revert back to bbPress 2.2.4 with BuddyPress 1.7, and use bbPress site-wide forums as pseudo BuddyPress group forums. I’ll just keep this setup for the time being until there’s a fix, then I’ll update to the latest version of bbPress.

Sorry I can browse the link you said

Not sure what you mean. The link I posted above leads to nowhere for you? It was a shortcut for http://bpsocialnetwork.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/complete-theme-wp-explorer/

    Yes ! I install bp in my pc(localhost) … ! Nothing changed.

Unfortunately we don’t have access to the premium theme. BP auto Theme Compatibility works with almost all WP themes. Some do not work due to a variety of reasons including customized templating systems, erroneous coding, missing page titles in pages and so forth, all of which are beyond our control.

Have you checked in the forums of theme developer whether other Complete theme users are having this problem and what, if any, solution was provided by theme dev?

I’m having the same problem. I would like to be able to allow users to post in all public groups without having to join them first. Was this topic ever solved?

    Thanks

@mercime just want to say thanks for posting this fix.

I totally forgot about the bp-config file after moving a site recently. Was hitting my head against the wall.

Not any more thanks to a Google Search and your advice.

    Thanks

    Navigate to “Plugins”.

Check to see if bbPress is enabled. Then, go to “Tools > Forums”.

If you disabled search engines from indexing your site (under “Settings > Reading” in the WP dashboard), then bbPress will not add any activity entries to the site.

Here’s a ticket I posted on the bbPress site about this:
    https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2151

To override this behavior, add the following snippet to your theme’s functions.php:
    add_filter( 'bbp_is_site_public', '__return_true' );

Thanks for the bug report, Peter.

I have confirmed your issue and have added a ticket here:
    https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4999

The ticket has a patch that will add back the “Forums” tab so you can configure the old legacy forums.

Moving forward, the legacy forums will not be the preferred option and you should look to use the bbPress plugin.

Check out this codex article for more info:

it would be helpful if you would share it so another person can see the solution in case they want to do the same thing in the future @abray

that’s the whole point of having a support forum!

@robinlolo I’m getting Service Unavailable – HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable
when I go to your site. It would be better for you if your webhost can move you from Windows/IIS hosting to Linux/Apache hosting.

But if that’s beyond your control, I suggest that you deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress. Resolve pretty permalinks without index.php in your WordPress installation first at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

@mercime Thank you for your decent reply.

I will check with them now and will let you know.

I just want to modify my last problem … I can use the registration via wordpress , but nothing related to buddy press or bbpress is working … forums and groups member and the rest.

    Thank you again.

    #163875

I’ve just had the same problem. There’s a few steps I took to fix it, any one of them might have been the magic one, but taken together they solved the problem:

    • Go to Settings > Forum and change the Default User Role to keymaster
    • Tick Auto role
    • Click Save Changes
    • Set Default User Role back to Participant
    • Click Save Changes
    • If you have a user role editing plugin, go to it, or if not, install one
    • Edit the Administrator role and make sure that Manage forums is applied (there might be others, so make sure that anything that sounds forum-related is also checked).

And that shoud (ha ha!) solve the problem.

    Good luck!
