There is the same problem with this plugin.

It’s weird that following loop bp_has_activities can display all side-wide activities on each page but bp_has_forum_topics can’t do it.

    bp_has_activities(‘max=8&object=groups&user_id=0&action=new_forum_post&scope=0&primary_id=0’)

The old forum to group relationship can be sensitive. From the error message, my best guess is it being a server configuration issue, likely with rewrite rules, or .htaccess… But it could literally be anything.

Just did a fresh install to a new DB. Changed to a default theme — still not working. This must be an issue/bug/ something…?

When I try and create a new group (with discussion forums enabled) I just get:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Where did you find the plugin?

Going to https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profile-privacy/ says it’s no longer there. The other reference to it here it gone too http://simplercomputing.net/2010/03/18/simple-buddypress-profile-privacy/

and i only can access the main forum from the side bar

Actually, you have your sitewide forum index page at http://justinharvey.com/F/

Also i am trying to add CSS to My pages and cant figure it out. any tips?

One usually adds the styles to your theme’s style.css file. However, since you’re using the BP Default theme, any modifications made to the style.css file will be overwritten when you upgrade BuddyPress. It would be better if you created a child theme of the BP Default theme and add styles to that child theme’s style.css file. Or use a WordPress theme and install/activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process.

@mrk-1 Current BuddyPress tables with xxx_bp_xxx can be seen at https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#bbpress-forums-tables-in-database
(xxx_bb_xxx tables are not included, those are for bbPress Group Forums)

Thanks very much, chouf! I missed the checkbox for some reason.

I also found that the $bb->uri works the same, it seems with the double-slash and without it. I changed it and am on the lookout for weird things. I found no such URI variable wp-config.php.

    About the 403 for http://dev.cityblocchicago.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/

I went into .htaccess and stripped out all the 403 redirects, leaving only the php mod_rewrite statements and the URL still 403s…

Is that URL supposed to answer?

    Thanks again,

    -r

First, open bb-config file and retrieve the double slash in the uri path. You must have this
    `$bb->uri = ‘http://dev.cityblocchicago.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/;`
Control also your wp-config.php file and  htaccess and check for this double slash issue.
As “dev” is a sub-domain of cityblocchicago.com, be carefull with the install path of WP.

When on the group page, you have a menu called “admin” on the right
Click on it and then on “settings”.

Normally you see a checkbox “activate discussion forum” for this group. If you have allowed group creation for all your site members, the box is already checked by default. If not, check it  and save.

Now the group menu has a forum tab. Click on it and you have access to a “new topic” button

I should point out that I’m using a child theme of bp-default. Although the problem persists even when bp-default is activated.

    Perhaps ` bp_the_topic_time` ?

I’ve just installed a buddypress theme … on my site and I’m totally lost as to how to add a login, members, groups, activity stream, forums etc.

You also need to install and activate BuddyPress and go through the Installation Wizard to assign the BP Pages. Did you already do all that? A BP-compatible theme still requires the BP plugin.

    Hi,

Sorry, I don’t know what screen you mean. There’s

    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=bb-forums-setup

Which says Forums for Groups is installed

    Then there’s

    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-settings

Which shows the right path to the bb-config.php file

Then there’s a group admin page such as

    /groups/name-of-group/

    Where no forums links appear…

    Did I miss something?

Thanks for the help, and Happy New Year,

    Additional info:

in bb-config.php, I noticed this line:

    $bb->uri = ‘http://dev.cityblocchicago.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress//bp-forums/bbpress/’;

This looked odd to me because of the double-slash in the url.

I also can’t load this URL, even if I remove the extra slash – the server 403s.

OK, I looked into the code, and this is something I’ll need to go bring up on the bbPress forums as it’s an issue with the extend buddypress component of the bbPress plugin.

I opened a ticket here: https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2140. Hopefully this helps!

hmm you can view my forum at http://elusivebuck.com/community/ and see examples. How would I go about blocking these users?

For my part point 2 is not working at all. I mean as an admin I can do point 2 but as a moderator I can’t. ==> Edit, close, and delete any forum topic or post in the group

You should be able to do this as Group Mod. WP/BP versions? Have you done basic troubleshooting like changing to BP Default theme and deactivating other plugins except BuddyPress?

    – I can’t access admin tab I am redirect to home group.

@laminedj – that’s where this all started and what the trac ticket (link above) is all about.

    – Delete post is not present in group activity stream

Change to BP Default theme, the delete button/link is there for Group Mod in Activity Stream.

    – I can’t ban users because I can’t access admin area

Group Mods cannot ban users, only Group Admins can do that. You can mark forum posts of such as Spam.

@johnjf based on your topic, I assume this is in reference to bbPress plugin aka Sitewide Forums. If so, only the Super Admin or the Administrator can create Forums or Sub-Forums. If other users are doing so in your installation, you could have been hacked or could have set “Administrator” as default role of new users in your installation.

    Hello,

My issue is not about edit or delete roup bit about moderation role :

In BP Codex it said : https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/group-settings-and-roles/

Moderators: When a group member is promoted to be a moderatorof the group, it means that the member receives the following additional abilities:

    1. Edit group details, including the group name and group description
    2. Edit, close, and delete any forum topic or post in the group
    3. Edit and delete other kinds of content, as produced by certain plugins (eg Group Documents)

For my part point 2 is not working at all. I mean as an admin I can do point 2 but as a moderator I can’t.

    – I can’t access admin tab I am redirect to home group.

    – Delete post is not present in group activity stream

    – I can’t ban users because I can’t access admin area

    Any advise ?

    Lamine

Let me add some more in detailed, hope someone could help for people from 2013 and forth too. ^^

The 1st time to install the BuddyPress, after activating the plugin, it will show one button, called “installation wizard” (http://domain.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=bp-wizard), from where, we can start the installation process.

However, once if you failed and even you unistall everything, it would jump to this page: http://domain.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=, in which the programe would ask you to repair things.. like memebers, groups, which I deleted when I uninstalled the BuddyPress.

But for the very 1st time, when you install the buddypress, it won’t ask you to repair, because, it shouldn’t be there from the beginning.

I hope this could help somebody to see what the issue is her more clear.

Thank you. and .. wish, well, everyone. Happy New Year!
