MemberJaja,
Thanks for the assistance. I looked at the link and because I am not up to speed on php I’m a bit lost.
Because of that, I am not sure what to do to prevent bbp sitewide from feeding into bp activity and I don’t want risk doing something that would be a major screwup. A more detailed simplified set of instructions would be greatly appreciated by anyone.
thanks in advance for any help with this.July 4, 2012 at 1:13 pm #136791workingman

@mercime
ParticipantWe are aware of the issue. Google has indexed buddypress.org pretty well, so you can use Google in the meantime … search “buddypress.org key words or phrases and/or username”

Participant@michaeljdornan – there’s a job board group on this site (not easy to find though!)
It makes sense to post your requirement there: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/forum/
Your costs could vary considerably – from just a few hours work to add basic BuddyPress capabilities to an existing ‘news’ theme (dependent on amount of HTML restructuring, styling), through to several weeks development to build a fully fledged news site with full backend workflow support and tight ‘site function related’ BP integration.
Having an indicative budget when you add to the jobs board would help.
If you don’t get it sorted through the job board, feel free to drop me a line.

Participant@rickpowell you would need to resolve your multisite issue first –> https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite

Participant@workingman just so we can align the structure in one go, please post the codes for header.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php as well.

@mercime
Participant@patrickhitches neither BuddyPress nor bbPress are installed in your site. If you’re still want to hire someone to fix the layout for you, do post at

and/or

@mercime
ParticipantDeactivate plugins except BuddyPress. Looks like the s2member plugin is not configured correctly. Do check their docs/forums for proper settings with new registration page.

Member@doctordr I just found this forum and took a look at your Avatar Tools Plugin for social engine. This is exactly the kind of functionality I would like to have with my buddypress site. Do you know of anything out there? I’ve searched but yet to find a solution.

MemberUninstalled bbPress to just work with BuddyPress. Retried the above steps for group forums. Still nothing.

MemberOkay, I started from scratch.
BuddyPress upgraded to 1.5.6.
WordPress upgraded to 3.4.1.
bbPress v 2.0.3 (removed the old instance and rebuilt with this version to make sure and wiped out all old forums, topics and replies)
I’m using the BP Default theme for testing.
I deleted all my old pages so I had the bare bones pages to work with.
I deleted all old groups to make sure I also had a clean slate there.I’ve followed the codex to the letter here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/I attempted to create JUST group forums and NOTHING else, using an existing bbPress Installation. I confirmed that the following were created:
wp_bb_forums
wp_bb_meta
wp_bb_posts
wp_bb_terms
wp_bb_term_relationships
wp_bb_term_taxonomy
wp_bb_topicsGroup forums failed. All I get is “Sorry, there were no forum topics found.” whenever I attempt to access forums from the (newly created, with forums enabled) groups page.
Then I went back to older postings about tricks other users have tried as noted here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/this-group-does-not-have-a-forum-setup-yet-1/?topic_page=1&num=15Post #7 was hailed as a the silver bullet by some users. Didn’t work for me. I went into my test group, edited it, removed forums, saved it. Renamed bb-config.php, reinstalled group forums. Went back in, re-enabled forums, saved again. Nothing.
I’ve performed about 4-5 different iterations and combinations of everything referenced in the above posts over the past several days now. Nothing. Groups forums is STILL not working. Can I offer money to someone to possibly help with this? Please? Anybody?

Help is much appreciated @karmatosedJuly 2, 2012 at 9:17 pm #136711Tammie Lister
ModeratorHave you used the template pack for BuddyPress? You need to either use that or make your theme a child theme of BuddyPress default. This is because the theme you are using is not a BuddyPress compatible theme from what I can see.

ParticipantThis article gives some decent ideas (and some less so!):
Other than that – there are lots of prior discussions on buddypress.org – if you try Google, it will find some pages on this site.
Keep yollering about how it would be nice to have regular forums with search on here @jjj

ParticipantPlease post your issues as separate topics – it helps finding them, solving them.
#2 is a well known UX problem with BuddyPress – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/certain-buddypress-member-profile-data-getting-hyperlinked/
For #1, you’ll either have to write some PHP to conditionally exclude the name field, or simply hide it using CSS

Memberactually I managed to pass the variables from form7 onto the register.php, but I need those values to prefill some of those extended user fields. As those extend user fields are built up dynamically, I am stuck …
Any idea would be appreciated – this is now 100% regarding buddypress (I really hope this forum is not THAT dead …)
