Participanthey @stwc I didn’t know that the WP repository changed the folder name. I’ve updated the code so it should work now. thanks for the heads-up. I wonder if there is a way to avoid a hard-coded call like that. anyone?

ParticipantFixed – I renamed the folder for the plugin to ‘bp-rate-forum-posts’ rather than ‘buddypress-rate-forum-posts’ where it auto-installs to, and it seems to work!
Very nice, minimal-style, plugin. Kudos!

ParticipantVery much like to use this one, but nothing seems to be happening after install in terms of UI on the site. No errors on activation, tried activation and activation site-wide both, logged-in as admin (using version from WP repo).
Screenshot and description look great, though, and looking forward to getting it working!

rich! @ etiviti
Participantsmall bug from downloading at the WP repo
some of the js and css calls are referring to bp-rate-forum-posts instead of buddypress-rate-forum-posts
even after updating the bad references – i can’t seem to get it to work. It will rate to a +1 but nothing is being saved to the db. Maybe the repo has a bad version?

ParticipantThank you! It is one of the most expected features i’d like to have

BTW, what with rating on comments? some of them sometimes are great and it’ll be good to rate them also!

Participantdemilio, I didn’t yet manage to put the content on different lines, but maybe you want to look at this threat for a half solution:

ParticipantSo, how many people are employed by Auttomatic to work on this project?
One. Andy.
I’ve been poking around for some time and I’m a little surprised that not one person has been confused by the complete lack of security in BuddyPress.
You need to poke around a little more.
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/privacy-1
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/privacy
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-privacy-component-an-update
Also, privacy is on the BuddyPress roadmap.
As Andy states, implementing privacy in BP or any social network is not an easy task. I am working on updating my older privacy component to work with BP 1.2 and WP/WPMU 2.9.x. It will be awhile longer before I have a working alpha for testing. But, privacy is coming to BuddyPress!

still giving
ParticipantIf you use the standalone BBpress option, how can you make it use the same template as the integrated Buddypress/BBpress installation?
Thanks
BTW, yes, I understand the principles of customing skinning and css but what I am asking is that it surely must be a fairly simple implant or template linking.
I am trying to make a general forum any member can access without having to join a group or being limited to only that group or groups.

Participantyou are right, this seems to be a bug:
1)
– I have created a Private-Group at testbp.org
when I am logged-in, then I am going to the “Group-Forums-Directory”, it is currently not possible to select this “Private-Group” from the drop-down-box in order to make a post into the Forum of this “Private-Group”.
It is currently only possible to make a Forum-post into this “Private-Group” by going to the “Group-Tab”, then search for that Group and make the post directly within the Group-Forum. But it is not possible to make a Forum-post from the “Group-Forums-Directory”.
2)
also when posting a Forum-post into a “Private-Group”, my own post is actually not visible for myself within the Tab “My Topics” at the “Group-Forums-Directory”.
Well, I would actually want to see MY OWN post, even if it is in a “Private-Group”.
It is also not possible for myself to see MY OWN Forum-post within the Tab “All Topics” at the “Group-Forums-Directory”.
3)
Note: this issue is showing when being logged-in.
4)

ParticipantJust install buddypress with group forums and install bbpress seperate, with intergration offcourse.
There’s nothing wrong with that.

ParticipantHi
I was wondering if anyone of you tried to install bbpress the “old way” and STILL have groups, in order to have a plain old bbpress forum (not attached to any group) AND groups.
I just installed the brand new BP 1.2 (which is really a great job) and installed bbpress automatically, but, as a couple of you said, it’s confusing to me, and it will be to the users too.
Thx.

Participantdefinitely a great feature!
Wow. judging from the forum posts; transitions to 1.2 is not smooth.. and many like the changes. cant wait for the next set of changes that will force me to redeploy my site again!

Participant@Hempsworth: first of all, great job! The plugin is amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I have 1 feature request: I would like to be able to choose what activities the members are allowed to like. For example: they can only like forum posts and group creations.
Regarding limiting the likers to just friends, as long as you make it an option, I bet there’s a lot of people who might find that useful.
I definitely see 4 different usage scenarios for this:
1 – “open”: you can see the name of everyone who liked it;
2 – “mixed”: you can only see the names of your friends (” and x others” just like your example above);
3 – “closed”: you can only see numbers (total of people who like it)
4 – “private mode” (more a privacy setting than a real scenario): no one sees what you like except you.

Participantdefinitely great idea to enhance usability !
Timewise, I am in favor of implementing proper Privacy-Features for BP at first.

ParticipantAs far as I know wpmu_activate_user is a plugin action hook. Also mentioned here. It works for my function. Not sure what you need exactly.
