KeymasterErich, I’m guessing that private and hidden topics will be shown to the logged-in user if they have permission to view them, otherwise just public topics will be shown.

Keymaster@r-a-y – Two great ideas. Next time I push out an update I will implement both. Maybe an admin option with checkboxes for where you want the subscribed/not-subscribed messages to appear (on the group home page or on the group forum index page or both). I might get to this next week – earlier if I find bugs and need to update anyway

@Erich73 https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap/ says it’s coming in v1.3 core. That might not be for a while, though.

Participantprobably I do not understand this discussion, but I would think that “private” and “hidden” Forum-topics shoud NOT show-up within the public “Forum Topic Directory” !
Please clarify.

KeymasterBoone… great work as always!

Still on < 1.1 myself, and was thinking we needed something like this for group forums in the interim.
Just a few suggestions:
– maybe add the admin options page under the “BuddyPress” admin menu?
– is there an action that will show the “Forum subscription” block on the group forum index page instead of the group homepage?

InactiveHi Westpointer and everybody,
I actually posted this two days ago but it seems my old username (alialib) couldn’t post publicly on forums for some reason.
So I’ve tested the plugin with 1.1 and, unfortunately, it doesn’t work properly. It does work, but you have to hack it:
‘bn-auto-join-group’ on lines 122 and 88 of the plugin needs to be changed to ‘auto-join-groups’
This will fix it. At the moment if you click ‘edit’ it directs you back to the dashboard, and ditto if you click ‘save’ having changed the urls and accessed the editing area.
Hope this helps everybody. Westpointer Sir, great plugin, thank you.
One suggestion: could you specify what group they join instead of having to put parameters in? This would make it perfect I reckon.
Cheers all.

ParticipantHum. Strange. But, your best bet is still to contact the plugin developer.
By the way, I have moved this thread to the “Third Party Components & Plugins” forum as it is more than likely not a BuddyPress issue but a plugin conflict.

KeymasterWow, Westpointer, we had the same idea at the same time. https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/group-forum-subscription
My version allows a bit more user control (opting out of specific discussions or entire groups) by using bbPress’s native Favorites function. I wonder if there’s some way you and I can combine forces

ParticipantFirst of all, please do not cross post. Your issue will be addressed in time.
Secondly, did you search the forums before posting? This issue has been addressed several times in the past. It is an issue with 1and1 and how they set up hosting. It is not a BuddyPress-specific issue.

October 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm #53590In reply to: How to Remove Admin Bar from Buddypress 1.1
AndreMartin
ParticipantI had the same issue as the original post here but the suggested custom CSS modification didn’t work for me. I solved the issue nevertheless, as below:
– Originally I used Remove BuddyPress Admin Bar 1.3 by Alessandro Raffa
That worked perfect (normal plugin for blog admins to use as they wish) *until* upgrading to BuddyPress 1.1. After the upgrade, the problem above appeared.
– Now I use Remove BuddyPress AdminBar 1.2 by NetWebLogic LLC
Just when I was about to mention my problem on this forum, I noticed that earlier today the “other” version (1.2) was released on the BuddyPress Developer > Plugins page.
What I did:
– I disabled the 1.3 plugin for all and mass-deactivated it.
– I enabled the 1.2 plugin and now all blogs activating it have no more space problem.
No idea why that is but I thought it might help some running the same version(s).

ParticipantChouf1: I have wp_, bb_ and bp_ tables inside the same database.
DJ: Yes. I prefer the way BB handles forums to BP’s – plus it is easier to modify a BB theme to mesh with BP than it is to modify the groups and forums.
As to my original question, I moved my original BB forums to a defunct category, then re-created the themes from inside BP. I’m now able to post to those BB forums from within BP.

Keymastermadloki, he’s just released a major new version of BuddyPress 2/3 days ago. Any further release – unless there’s a genuine critical bug found, and this isn’t one – I expect will be quite a few weeks at the very least.
Obviously a trunk code fix will happen as soon as Andy or someone else contributes a fix.

KeymasterIf /wp-content/bpthemes/ exist, BP will try to use pre-version 1.1 themes.
If that folder doesn’t exist, it will load from /wp-content/themes/ as like normal WordPress. This is explained perfectly well in the upgrade documentation and throughout this forum.
