ParticipantThat’ll work but can result in scrollbars or cutoff images in some cases. This is not a CSS forum… there are better places to learn this stuff… but briefly… I know of four methods to clear floats:
1. Use extra HTML markup to clear your floats (<br style=”clear:both;” />). Ugly but it works every time.
2. Use :after (the positioniseverything.net method) to do the same without the added presentational markup. But it doesn’t always work.
3. Float everything. But you may unleash a positioning nightmare.
4. Use overflow hidden or auto on the parent. But you may get scrollbars or cut off content in some cases.

Also, are you using a language translation on your site? If so, this particular bug has recently been fixed and will be in the next release of BP.

KeymasterHello
We aren’t going to admin your site. I’ve edited your post and removed the admin username and password; that was a very, very silly thing to do and I suggest you immediately go in and change the password.
Please help us help you by answering these questions.

KeymasterHi
This is a known issue and has been fixed ready for the next release. There used to be a sticky thread on this forum with a quick fix, but it’s dropped off the sticky threads list. Have a search and see if you can find it.

KeymasterI’m assuming you mean BuddyPress, as opposed to bbPress which is the forum component.
Yes, comments posted on existing blogs on the WPMU installation will appear in the BuddyPress activity feeds. Make an account on http://testbp.org and have a play

ParticipantWordPress blog since 2006, bbPress forum added in 2008, and now a BuddyPress community. To start with we’re only using extended profiles and private messaging, but will layer in additional features over time.
Very grateful for the powerful platform that Andy and team have created, and for the great support offered by Burt, JJJ, Jeff and all the others on the forum.

KeymasterAs I read your post, you have an old forum you want “into” BuddyPress. BP or WordPress MU aren’t forums. BuddyPress’ forum components are provided by BBPress.
If you want to import things differently, you need to write your post in more detail and even then I doubt there’s any easy solution

KeymasterDiego, just read your trac ticket and I think I understand what you’re saying now.
You’re saying that there’s no link to the comment author in your BP forum’s post.
You should definitely describe the issue in detail next time.
Disregard what I’ve written previously.

Re-download BP 1.0.3 and make sure your BP files match up, particularly your “bp-themes/bpmember” folder.

KeymasterThe testbp.org site is running on the latest developmental version of BuddyPress.
That isn’t ready for primetime yet; wait a couple of weeks for the release of BuddyPress 1.1 and you’ll get all the new features!

ParticipantYes I understand but how come the demo site and every other site the option to filter the SITE WIDE ACTIVITY widget by blogs, groups etc.. and my installation doesn’t. Small things like that make me wonder.

KeymasterDiego, think of the BP Member template as a starter template (like how the Kubrick template is the starter template for WordPress!).
You have to build upon the template to get what you want to achieve.

ParticipantSo even after you integrate bbpress you still have to manually get the authors to show up?

KeymasterNope, it doesn’t work out of the box.
You could request it as an enhancement though.
Login with the same username and password as you use on buddypress.org.

KeymasterOops… I meant if you’re using the default BP Member theme, you should edit:
/wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/groups/group-menu.php

ParticipantOkay, your BuddyPress site is so far out of date that you have a lot of work ahead of you. Since you installed the pre-release version of BP, there have been five major upgrades.
Unfortunately, you upgraded WPMU before upgrading BP. It would have been better for you to get BP up to date before upgrading WPMU, but that is now water under the bridge.
To help you down this road, please read this specific post and all the links it contains:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/upgrade-confusion#post-21013
As far as using your custom theme, you will have to look at the default theme files in BuddyPress 1.0.3 and see what needs to be changed. The theme files have gone through many revisions since RC-1 was released five (or more)months ago.
And, just to be proactive, a very-major rewrite of BuddyPress will be coming out in the next several weeks. BuddyPress version 1.1 uses an entirely different theme architecture. You can read about that here.

ParticipantI’ve gotten WordPressMU installed (2.8.4a) and bbPress (1.0.2) installed. When you create a group the forum is creating in bbPress. I can post a topic on the bbPress side and it’ll show up in BuddyPress. When I try creating a new topic or replying to a topic I get that dreaded – “There was an error posting that topic” message.
I’ve made sure I enabled XMLRPC and Pingbacks in bbPress and added that line to my bbPress config. I also use that XMLRPC testing plugin and it returns normal data so it can connect to bbPress via XMLRPC.
Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take or any ideas of what I might be missing?
