In reply to: Strip slashes not working on forum ?
JsonB123
ParticipantI’m having slashes NOT being sripped on my BuddyPress side of things. Like if I name the BASE information in a persons profile to “settings” or ‘settings’ or setting’s…basically anything with a single or double-quote I get the crazy slashes all over the place.
My PHP info reveals that
magic_quotes_gpc On On
magic_quotes_runtime Off Off
magic_quotes_sybase Off Off
Is this correct? And if not, how do I fix it?
May 20, 2009 at 3:06 pm #45721Jeff Sayre
ParticipantNice catch! You’re correct. The BuddyPress Support Plugin is still versioned as 1.0-RC1.
I’m use to thinking in terms of file names. In this particular case, buddypress-enable.php. So, I incorrectly made a wrong assumption.
@Ehegwer-
Make sure that you carefully read the installation-readme.txt file included in /buddypress/bp-forums/ folder.
You state that your:
buddypress integration plugin [is] (installed in my-plugins)
This is not the proper location. See Step 6 of installation-readme.txt:
In the bp-forums component there is a /bbpress-plugins/ folder. Copy the ‘buddypress-enable.php’ plugin file from that folder into your bbpress plugins folder (eg domain/bbpress/bb-plugins/)

ParticipantFrom what I can see, the latest BuddyPress Support Plugin for bbpress is still version 1.0-RC1, even in BuddyPress 1.0 (or at least its marked that way).
There is no BuddyPress Support Plugin 1.0.

ParticipantHmm… I have these same versions and after changing doing the cookie integration and getting everything “set up” I can no longer access the back-end of BBPress. My user is no longer the ‘key master’ or admin for BBPress.
Let me break this down with some more detail, I really want to get this working!

Versions I’m using
- WPMU 2.7.1
- BuddyPress 1.0
- bbpress-1.0-rc-1
Steps
I got WPMU 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0 installed fine so I’ll just skip that part entirely.
- As directed from multiple sources about integrating BBPress, I erased the Authentication Unique Keys from wp-config and then proceeded to log into the WPMU back end where it presented me with newly genereated ones for: ‘NONCE_KEY’, ‘AUTH_KEY’, AUTH_SALT, LOGGED_IN_KEY LOGGED_IN_SALT SECURE_AUTH_KEY, SECURE_AUTH_SALT
- I created a folder named ‘forums’ (I realize that this can be named whatever I want) and put all of the files from the BBPress 1.0 RC-1 in there.
- I went through the install steps, filling out the database info but skipping the ‘Integrate with WordPress’ steps in order to do this later in the BBPress admin panel.
- I get that all set up and go to the BBPress admin panel where I fill out the necessary info for integration with WordPress, sharing the same database, filling out the salts which are the same ones I used in wp-config.
- I put define(‘COOKIEPATH’, ‘/domain/forums/’); into my wp-config file as directed by BBPress instructions.
- I also made sure that the AUTH_KEY, SECURE_AUTH_KEY, and LOGGED_IN_KEY in wp-config.php matched BB_AUTH_KEY, BB_SECURE_AUTH_KEY and BB_LOGGED_IN_KEY in bb-config.php
Now, after doing all that I headed back to the admin panel for BuddyPress and filled out the information for integration with BBPress there. Now, when I go to my BBPress forums page and log in as my admin account on BuddyPress/WPMU I am not the admin on BBPress and thus cannot access the back-end. This isn’t the only problem, although it is the main one. I also cannot get my groups on BuddyPress to generate a forum topic when I try to do so it gives an error and says that it couldn’t.
I am going to attempt again with Trevor’s instructions but there are some fuzzy bits in there so I just want to make sure I’m attempting to do this correctly with the correct versions of WPMU, BuddyPress and BBPress. **Note that I cannot find any of the earlier Alphas on the BBPress site, so if I am using the wrong one…am I S.O.L.?

ParticipantI have the KalturaCE – self hosted on my server. slicehosted
Looks great and the plugin looks good for wpmu / buddypress so far, just no video showing.
Strange thing is that the videos etc. all show in the KMC – kaltura mgmt. console.
With the connect to kaltura hosted version requires each contributor to have a partner id – or they would , if using my id, be able to edit my vids as well.
I think that I with self hosted I can make kaltura setup with a unique id per user and not require users to get a kaltura id etc.
or I go red5.
I have some experience already with red5, all that would be needed is integration into wpmu / bp.
btw – kaltura is lowwwww on documentation , and since I am not paying support …… yet.
And the forums are new still.

Participantanyone working with kalturaCE and all in one plugin for WP(mu)?
I have kalturaCE running ok,in the KMC I can do everything.
In WPMU I have issues.
Can’t upload and view in WPMU – BP1, yet the files are available in the KMC.
I did post in kaltura forums, waiting for response.

Inactivehmmm… any ideas?
What tables there should be in the database when using buddypress+wpmu+bbpress?
I noticed that i don’t have any table for bp-forums. It was mentioned in some topic here to check out the bp_forums table (not the same problem as mine though) and I just checked tables and noticed that one is actually missing.
How that can be? I have not deleted it. And forums worked fine some time ago, but now they don’t. Before this problem I was able to create new groups in BP and they was created to bbforums as well. Now I can create new groups too, but bbpress doesn’t find them. I can post a new topic and reply posts in bbpress, but not in BP forums.
If I try to post a new topic or reply I get a red error message: “There was an error posting that topic.”

ParticipantHi Jeff,
Sorry for my absence, it has been a busy few weeks. Susequent to my last post I have installed and reinstalled bbPress several times. Everytime I am able to get integration working fine. Login in both BuddyPress and bbPress is synchronized, posts made in groups show up in bbPress. Posts made in bbPress show up in BuddyPress groups. All copacetic.
The problem is that none of that activity is recorded in the site wide activity widget. Bummer. I have deactivated the forums system for the time being.
I am running WPMu 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0 with bbPress 1.0 alpha 6.
Thanks for your interest.

ParticipantHello!
I’ve just tried this plugin: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=381#post-1515
And it’s actually not working. When I activate the plugin, the group forums disappear in all BP groups.
Moreover, When I check the admin page of each BP groups, I can’t see the “activate forum option” anymore.
I’ve tried to place the plugin in both bb-plugins and my-plugins directories.
I’m using:
WPmu 2.7.1
BP 1.0 (oh yeah!
)bbpress 1.0 alpha 6
Am I the only one having this problem? Maybe the plugin is not working with the last version of BP?
Thanks a lot!!

ParticipantErich73-
just wondering: is it possible to show only groups at the “home”-page ?
Yes. You can add or remove whatever widgets you want to the bphome theme page.
Log into WPMU and go to “Appearance > Widgets”. On the right side of the screen, select which theme column you want to place a given widget, then click the “Add” button for that widget. Click on “Edit” for each widget to set certain parameters.
You can also remove any widget from any column by clicking a given widget’s “Edit” button and then clicking the “Remove” button. Just make sure to click the “Save Changes” button whenever making widget changes.
is it possible having “group-wide-activity” showing for each group also at the start-page ?
As far as I know, there currently is not a group-wide-activity widget. You can either make your own, or if you do not have coding experience, create a new thread in the “Requests & Feedback” forum asking for such a widget. Perhaps someone will make one!

ParticipantBuddyPress Support Plugin 1.0-RC1
If you are truly using BuddyPress 1.0-RC1, then that is your issue. There have been many bugs fixes and improvements since RC1. It’s time to upgrade to the 1.0 public release and try the process again.
Since RC2, BuddyPress is a single plugin that resides in /wp-content/plugins/. Make sure you follow these revised Installation procedures very carefully.

Participantum… maybe you should probably go to wpmu forum to get more feedback on this. Make sure you search the forum in case similar problem reported before.

I had a quickish google but I couldn’t find any importers that looked up to date. Do let us know if you find any

ParticipantDoes anyone have a reliable plugin that they’re using for MU, then? I have searched the MU forum for information and the postings that deal with this issue are really old, sometimes as old as two years. I’d be eternally grateful if someone could just say, “Hey, this one works great for me,” so I can be on my way!
TIA!

Participant… an option to view Unanswered posts…Will BP kindly think about a similar provision, please?
Why? It took me only two days to find this.

Seriously, though, this feature request is bbPress related. I think it is a great idea! Perhaps you could post this idea on the bbPress forums.
