Looks like something is improperly stripping the lt and gt chars from your forum text. Do you have the bbpress plugin buddypress-enable.php activated in bbpress? It comes with bp and is distributed in the /mu-plugins/bp-forums/bbpress-plugins.

Has something disabled the standard bp filter bp_forums_filter_decode() that lives in bp-forums-filters.php?

Make sure you have activated the buddypress-enable.php bbpress plugin that comes with the bp-forums component.

Temporary disruption in the fabric of reality, or something. All might be OK now.

    I dig the new design.

It’s funny. I was just surfing the forums and poof! It took me a second to realize what just happened.

@gpo1. Burt already conquered this one. Just add a few lines to bp-custom.php. No plugin necessary.

    See https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1651.

    Works for me!

Wow – I must have been so lucky I did not encountered any problem with my buddypress – bbpress site integration.

Just followed the instructions. Now just need to make my forum site look like the main site. LOL – I am not a techie guy though.

    Here’s my new site: http://petnetwork.ws / forum at http://petnetwork.ws/forums/

It will be great if you can put this theme as the default theme for built-in bbpress under buddypress.

Pagination is available for most things in bp. If you see it on testbp.org it will be in your install also. What version of bp are you using?

Got me. I don’t use the LDAP plugin so I’m not sure of the implications involved in using it. I’ll leave this topic open. Perhaps somebody else who actually uses that plugin can help.

gpo1, I’m sure there are programmers around the forums that can do this for you if you don’t have the time to research and implement this.

I don’t think that this theme is available for download anywhere. It looks to me like the standard bbpress theme with a custom header and footer.

There was some discussion on this forum a while ago about someone developing a plugin that allows users to define passwords themselves. Anyone know if there’s been any progress on that?

Would certainly be useful – I’m beta testing at the moment, and that’s one of the most requested features from my users.

    Burtadsit,

I do have all the users listed in bbPress. In fact from the admin panel in bbPRess, if I delete a user, they disappear from WPMU. I kinda thought that if I was to delete the troubled user in bbPress that maybe the account would be recreated and all would be well. It actualy deleted them from WPMU – Thank God for SnapShots on the VM. When I say one troubled user, I mean the one who reported the issue. I tried other accounts and had the same issues with writing forum posts.

Should I just delete the bbPress install and try it again? Then I could just have the groups recreate the forums? We are just getting started, so it should not be an issue.

POssibly the reason for the users not being able to login to bbPress is because the passwords for the accounts are actually stored in LDAP where the authentication occurs on the WPMU side? There is a password in the WPMU database, but I think it may just be a generic type that is not used and generated by the plugin. Could this be the issue and if so, how might I work through it?

It must be because you are running an older version of BP alunsina. Sign up goes to the registration form. What happens when you upgrade BP? White screen of death? There have been lots of changes recently including changes to the directory structure for the member themes. See: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1675

That was effective rev 1211. Make sure you update the member and home themes also. Lots of changes in the security area from wpmu 2.6 to 2.7.

When you upgrade to the latest bp what do the apache error logs say? That’s the only way to find out what is going wrong. White screen of death means that a fatal php error is happening.

Ok thanks. So now I have JJJ’s workaround and I was able to activate the plugin.

There is clearly something wrong with my xmlrpc. I am unable to bring over any data and so this goes back to the fact that my forums won’t sync. When I go to my XMLRPC page(http://phoenix.fanster.com/xmlrpc.php) I am getting this error:

XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

OK. Trying to sort out the issues here. :) We got what I think we should try and solve first and that may make the rest of the issues go away.

Users in wp can’t login to bbpress. If you have user integration configured correctly then that can’t happen. When wp and bbpress share the same user table, which is what user integration is, then bbpress’s users ARE wp users. Same user table and passwords.

Do you have wp/bbpress user integration?

It’s possible to create a standalone wp and standalone bbpress. Create the utility user for group forums on both sides and be able create forums through bp group forums. Never thought of it before but you can. Without user integration it would explain the symptoms you are experiencing.

Take two asprins, install bbpress with wp user integration and call me in the morning.

I like this idea very much…

I had the same question two months ago with an answer – sadly I didn’t quite get it. Maybe you do, and can explain it to me… :-)

Here is the other funny thing: When a new person logs in, they are also added properly to BBpress. So wouldn’t that indicate that xmlrpc is working?

Would having all the blogs be private have anything to do with this?

    #40495

That may be the issue. I don’t think the password is stored in WPMU since it is done in the LDAP plugin. The funny thing is that other accounts that have authenticated via LDAP are able to post topics in the forum. It is only a recent problem.

I do have the allow user switching added to the config as well.

Should the user be able to login to BBpress directly from the forum main page? That may be the disconnect. I noticed that in the admin panel for bbpress, the user is listed but I cannot login to the bbpress site as that user.
