Participant– it’s the (or one of the) “default” wp themes ( https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyfourteen/ )
about the only way you will get any kind of support with bp or / and rtmedia..it’s not the easiest thing to mod – but at least it works, and bp has some stylesheets included that massage it into something better than the average theme for some bp pages..
I finally got deep into it to style some changes at the various media queries / screen sizes..
btw – did you try changing your premium themes style.css to those changes to see if they work?
if you search the bp forums for other premium themes you will see that even ones selling as “the best or the most popular buddypress theme” – seem to have issues and lack good support.. search the forums for “kleo” for example – lol
I am sticking with twenty fourteen ’till things mature a bit (recent changes in wp and bp have made things complex in some ways) –

Participant@djsteveb, All,
you can only post max 3 links on this forum. There is no moderation for this, meaning there is no way to un-moderate. If you publish a topic with 4 or more links, the topic will never been published and you’re simply redirected to the comment screen.

Participant@liharris – welcome to the suck (that is theme issues with bp (and other things bp related like rtmedia) (welcome to the suck a movie quote, kind of joking)-
you will likely not get any help in the bp forums when it comes to premium themes, you should contact the theme author.
I did a quick look, and I must say I have zero knowledge of that theme and all the css things that could affect everything – I am also not a css expert.
My first thought is that you can create something very similar with a free theme from the wp-repo and a one of the “cards” plugins from the from wp-repo..
my second thought is wondering why the theme author did not include a couple of css rules like:
.header {
margin-left: -200px !important;
}body {
margin-left: 200px;
}but again I have no idea what he/she is trying to do with whatever elements, and how one may affect another in different situations..
you could try to make a child theme (good luck with that friggin process!)
and adapt those rules..
but I suggest that you don’t get married to that theme and buddypress – even if you find a theme that actually says “works with buddypress” – I think you will find little issues to contend with – and from what I have seen (lately even) is that these premium theme authors (And free theme authors) have trouble keeping up with bp and other things that are (IMHO) needed addons with bp (rtmedia, or/and media press, or that other one – umm. photo something)
anyhow – I gave up on all premium and free themes and have been stuck with working with 2014 theme as it’s the only thing that gets any kind of “working well with bp / rtmedia and other things” – I’m sure other smarter coders mileage is different.

Personally, I think BP supports thousands of users. There are few BuddyPress sites with abounding users. You just need a good server and a good database space.

Participant@xrossgg well fudge – I tried posting a thorough reply, but I guess my post is going to held in moderation for having too many links in it. Maybe one of the @mods will un-moderate it.
Search the forums here for “activity filter” – look for things with “parse_args” –
maybe the thread here can get you started: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/documentation-for-remove_action-activity-streams/

Participant@gitavns, it’s not a BP bug. But you have to verify your install. Since when did you get this issue ? What have you done (update, adding custom function) ?
– Activate debug mode in wp-config.
– Deactivate Divi and activate Twenty fifteen theme. If you use plugins and/or custom code (bp-custom or child-theme functions.php), deactivate them and give a try. If it’s OK with only WP/BP, reactivate and test each plugin one by one.
Once plugins being tested, and if OK, reactivate your theme. If it appears that the issue comes from Divi, you should ask on their support forum, as we can’t help much here with premium theme.

djsteveb
Participant@hamiltontroy007 – Is the issue the same when you use chomre vs firefox vs IE ?
if you switch to the 2014 theme does the same issue occur?
If not, then it would appear to be something with the Kleo theme, and I don’t think your chances of getting help in the bp forums to debug a premium theme are very high.
“asked Kleo support and they had a look and said it is related to buddypress. ” – I think that’s like saying your issue has something to do with “http” since it’s internet related. I would of expected a much better answer from a premium theme developer that seems to have made more then $200,000 selling a theme that claims to be “the greatest community theme on the market”
just one more reason I sigh when it comes to bp and themes.
and my 2 cents on the issue without knowing much about any of this.September 11, 2015 at 9:48 am #244271djsteveb

Participant@nithin270 – any changes you make for search spiders is going to take weeks (at minimum) before they are reflected in the search results.
I suggest doing some robots.txt additions (will list mine below) – however realize that long ago google made a decisions that even if your robots.txt says to disallow crawling something, if another page on the web links to your subpage that is blocked by robots.txt, it will still show the url in the search results – but have a description something like “this sites robots.txt prevents google from displaying description of this result”.
There has been debate about that decision, but it is what it is.
The only way to really prevent a page showing up in results is to hide it behind a password (like htpasswd) – however google does normally remove results if that page (or header info of images) includes “noindex” in the head of the page (there is a tricky way to add this to images – it was pointed out to me in the google webmaster forums)
given that bp pages like members are kind of pseudo pages, using something like yoast (currently as far as I know) – will not give you an option to add noindex, nofollow to your member pages..
you may be able to modify the code I got from wpmudev that checks “if is member page, then add meta description as…” –
( http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/bp-meta-tite-description-for-groups-and-members-pages#post-806736 )
to… also check “if is members page” – then add “meta name=”robots” content “noindex, nofollow”..
(something like that)that should remove your members pages next time google crawls your site and the crawlers send the info back to the main algo/index..
I think there is a way to log into google webmaster tools if you have claimed /verified your site and click on urls to ask the big G to remove them as well. (I have not messed with that stuff in a while )
I also suggest adding a robots.txt file similar to this:
Disallow: */activity/p/*
Disallow: /docs/
Disallow: *send-invites*
Disallow: */groups/*members*
Disallow: */groups/*media*
Disallow: *widget-title*
Disallow: *members/*activity*
Disallow: *members/*notifications*
Disallow: *members/*friends*
Disallow: *members/*groups*
Disallow: *members/*docs*
Disallow: *members/*media*
Disallow: *acpage*
Disallow: *messages*
Disallow: *friends*
Disallow: *settings*
Disallow: /*/comment-page*
Disallow: *register*
Disallow: *login*
Disallow: *profile*
Disallow: *admin*
Disallow: *includes*
Disallow: *content*to prevent some other quirky indexing issues with bp.
If your member profile stuff is sacred, then I would hunt the forums here for what others have been messing with that prevents profile info from being displayed if a user is not logged in… as there are plenty of indexing spiders that will not follow the robots.txt or robots index rules in <head> – in fact some specifically look for these things and purposely crawl and scrape stuff that is blocked –
Disclaimer: I am not an expert, not a real coder. Research these things with other sources, your situation may vary.

ParticipantHow else would I override the buddypress file unless it was in my child theme with the same name?
You should NOT override core files. The only files you alter from child theme are template files.
To alter core functions, you use custom functions and add them via filter hooks, preferably added to bp-custom.php – so you won’t loose your work at next update.
member-profile.php doesn’t exist in BuddyPress.
Codex is your friend !
… and forum search too. 😉

Antipole
ParticipantI have a solution to this – I have written a minimal plugin that diverts to a ‘denied’ page if a non-logged-in user tries to access the private type of information. I still allow the profile to be displayed as that has its own permissions arrangements. Here is my plugin:
<?php /* Plugin Name: Make certain pages private Description: Specifically for ******** website: prevents not-logged-on users from seeing certain pages otherwise visible Version: 1.0 Author: Tony ***** */ function check_for_private_pages() { if (is_user_logged_in() == true){ /* nothing to do if logged in */ return; } else { if (bp_is_activity_component() || bp_is_forums_component() || bp_is_blogs_component() || bp_is_groups_component()){ header('Location: http://'. $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] . '/oops-cant-get-you-where-you-tried-to-go/'); } } } add_action('template_redirect', 'check_for_private_pages'); ?>September 6, 2015 at 8:02 pm #244126In reply to: Problems with groups without forum

Participantthe pages go directly to groups/name_group/forum, so i have a not found error
Let’s think that you set up forum wrong. Verify your bbPress settings. Or that you added some bbPress shortcodes to the BP group page.
On a correct install of BP/bbP, if a group has a forum, it is because the group creator activated it.
As site admin, go to the group management on front-end and deactivate the forum.
or/and
If you don’t want forum for groups, simply deactivate this option in bbPress settings.
Deactivate also Allow users to create forums in BuddyPress settings.September 5, 2015 at 6:48 pm #244101In reply to: [Resolved] How To Get Notification Count? (Code)?

ModeratorHey djsteveb
Thanks for your feedback! As you say it could be a plugin conflict or maybe even a theme issue.
Not using GitHub isn’t a problem. Once you’ve completed all of your tests, can you post the issues you find on the plugin’s support forum? I’d be happy to take a look

The objective is display in a custom loop of activities only forum threads.August 30, 2015 at 12:23 am #243855djsteveb
Participant@karllundgren – neat site and tutorial there I agree.
It seems that is a premium theme, not a free theme from the wordpress repository, and it’s certainly not the default 2014 or 2014 wordpress theme – which means you chance of getting answers here (about theme display issues) in the bp forums are pretty slim.
You should direct this question to the theme author. I would be interested in what they come up with as a solution.

ParticipantYour question is a bit unclear: only display updates from new topics and replies
BP jargon:
Updates are messages you add on site wide activity, group or profile activity (what’s new form)New topics are (normaly) related to bbPress forum topics.
And replies can came from, in fact, everywhere. Blog post comments & replies
Ativity comments & replies
Forum comments & replies…Give details please or use one of those methods: template modification or custom function.

ParticipantPlugin author stopped support on wp.org repo since a few weeks.
sLaNGjIs Team do not provide support on wordpress.org forum and reviews system! If you get an issue, you have to ask here now https://github.com/sLaNGjI
This is also the reason why nobody answered to your question on support….FYI, i found this in the plugin review ! You’ve nothing to loose to try that.
In plugin’s ReadMe, it’s stated that:
* Work on all WordPress version from 3.1+ to 4.2+
* Compatible with bbPress and BuddyPress (for front-end hide).BuddyPress settings has an option to show/hide the Toolbar to users, which is working properly since a while. I’m not aware of any toolbar trouble who should be resolved in BP’s core in regard of a third party plugin.
Conclusion: don’t use a plugin who has no decent support. Do it yourself or search another plugin. Sorry !
