ParticipantThis question has nothing to do with BuddyPress.
Please ask on the RocketTheme, or a basic CSS / HTML forum. Or simply search ‘IE conditionals’ in Google

ModeratorIf the plugins hard include the template files instead of utilizing plugins.php it’s a little more work. You have to edit each plugin.

ModeratorIt’s a different solution for a social network. Other options are great but I warn that the developer could drop support after you’ve built a site. BuddyPress will continue to be developed plus there is a growing BP theme & plugin community.
Test it out. I’m curious to hear what people say about the other options.

Participantthank you for your answer. I’ve tried to change those files and it didn’t work.
See this link where buddypress works together with my theme:
http://mejl.cvenk.net/profil/forums/And now see this other link on my theme where buddypress isn’t fitting well:
http://mejl.cvenk.net/profil/members/josip/I fixed files like activity,members,groups and forums but I couldn’t fix files that are inside members folder like members/profile and so on.
Could you help me please, once again…
thnx:)

ParticipantIt depends what theme you are using, but typically:
/members/single folder has all the individual PHP files for the profile pages
/_inc/css folder has all the CSS filesAugust 9, 2012 at 10:08 am #138947james_loudon
MemberExcellent thanks – where is that CSS living though?

ModeratorHave you styled your plugins.php files in your theme?
August 9, 2012 at 10:00 am #138944Tammie Lister
ModeratorYou can do this using CSS:
‘div#content {
float: right;
width: 80%;’‘div#content .padder {
margin-right: 0px;
}’‘div#sidebar {
float: left;
margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 1px;
width: 224px;
}’August 9, 2012 at 3:19 am #138930In reply to: How to add a profile link to navigation bar

ParticipantI put the code at the bottom of the function.php in the parent theme and nothing happened. All i want is to add the profile tab to my original nav menu and its becoming an arduous task. I dont understand why the option isn’t built in the buddypress from the jump(just a check box option) but anyhow, can you suggest something please?

MemberPerhaps there should be a simple skeleton child theme with an admin option for loading and switching between different style sheets. That way submitting designers only have to do the css and not the child theme skeleton. Have it somehow assign a unique id to each style sheet. Because there are no template changes you could use any of the style sheets and switch between at any time. You could have a different look everyday. Because there would be no php changes to the default BP theme it would be easy to support.

Participant@fiq feel free to create a child theme of the BP Default theme or a BP-aware WP theme and submit it to the WP Theme Repository https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/upload/ Let me know when you do and I’ll review your theme

MemberI’ll check it out. As I’m sure you know good themes are a bit rare for BP. I was just thinking “Skins” may be a good way to promote BP usage. I would love to setup a site if I had the time. There are are growing number of good BP topic sites so hopefully one of them can give it a try. I think it would drive a lot of traffic.

@mercime
Participant@queenieb You’re right. You can have both the sitewide forums and the group forums.
As for the issue/s you’re encountering, I read that Salutation theme [edit] has been updated for BP 1.6 https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/weird-characters-showing-instead-of-avatar-picture-on-top-bar-after-installing-1-6-update/?topic_page=2&num=15

MemberI think in my case it might be theme-related. I’m using Suffusion with Suffusion BP Pack plugin, and I saw on their forum that he’d used BP 1.5beta files. He claims an upgrade is on the way. In the meantime, I disable ‘Friends’ and am adding everyone to every group using BP Group Management plugin until the upgrade comes out. It’s half a solution, but better than redesigning from scratch.

MemberPerhaps I am not understanding what you’re saying. The codex tells me that I can have both. I followed the instructions to the letter.
I went ahead and upgraded to BuddyPress 1.6/Salutation 1.5.1/BBP 2.1.2 and my WordPress is at 3.4.1. I also copied my bb-config.php file to my wp-content folder.
I decided to fore-go the site-wide forums and just use the forums within the groups.
I’m still unable to create a new topic inside of a group. Nothing happens when I click on either of the 2 ‘New Topic’ buttons.
Also when I enter text in the “What’s New in ‘this group’?” activity box, there is no submit button and the comment just sits there.
I tested this using the buddy-press default theme as I’m hoping to get this resolved soon so that I can try it with my Salutation theme.

KeymasterIf you’re using Genesis, you’ll also need the Genesis theme compatibility plugin called Genesis Connect:
http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/genesis-connectIf you don’t want to use that paid version, you can try using the free BP Template Pack plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/Although, it should be stated that Genesis Connect is probably better suited as it should integrate with your Genesis theme seamlessly, while BP Template Pack will give you a generic look that might not gel with your theme and might require some CSS and template tinkering to get it just the way you want.

“Note that there is likely to be a 1.5.2 theme update uploaded to ThemeForest later today.”
