Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
Is the theme you’re using updated for BP 1.5.5? Change to bp-default theme and issue should be corrected.
@nsbalgcom do not paste long blocks of code here. Let’s try that again.
Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all, paste in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here.
Do the same for your theme’s (The Global News Theme, right?) index.php, page.php, sidebar.php, and footer.php
Also, something was wrong with your index.php file. It should be of your theme’s index.php and what I saw was the members/index.php file.
B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`
with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/bloggingnews/
D. Check out the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and copy these over to your theme’s stylesheet and adjust as needed.
@jakeyboy1989 Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your bloggingnews theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`
with
`
Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
` or `
` to `
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
yep
not to worry it’s done now
In fact I have gone and checked for you and your theme has been covered on this post:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/where-are-my-sub-menus/
This is the extent of mercime’s help – the code necessary to make bp template files compatible with a given theme and then it’s up to the poster to implement that code in their files. So the work has been done as it were and just needs implementing, if you still haven’t the time to do that then I would suggest you make a slightly better offer 20 euros might be a little more incentive for someone and perhaps post the request in the jobs board group.
> and I don’t know how long it takes.
Then you can’t possibly place a remunerative value on the effort can you – certain ‘offers’ can be considered derisory and perhaps are better not made at all
I’ll butt out now
but please do have a preliminary read through the codex guides that have been slaved over to provide easy to grasp steps in converting themes – if you have a basic understanding of what needs doing it might well help mercime if she has time to help out.
> paste in pastebin.com !! ?
@mercime here are the files you requested. Here is a my site link: http://nsbalg.com/ssn3 and here is the preview of the demo theme – http://demoserver.pressjunkie.net/theglobalsport/
Hope to hear from you soon regarding how to fully fix my alignment. Sorry the directions given did not help me.
DELETED – do not post large blocks of code here. please follow instructions and paste code to pastebin.com for each file — mercime
Well my site could really use it, and I don’t know how long it takes.
It is a well-known theme called Graphene, I am really new with this so I could use any help
5 Euros??!! that’s about £4.00 or $6.5 do you really value coding so cheaply
that buys around 6 minutes of my time.
If you really desperately need to use this theme and you haven’t the time to learn to use the BP template pack plugin – have you tried or made a start with the template pack to convert your theme to use BP? – then you might want to think about making that offer a little more generous
Failing that check the codex pages to see if this is a theme @mercime has already covered and converted – there’s a list of themes already made compatible. Failing all that as well you might be lucky and find mercime will do this for you for free.
I have exactly the same problem!
Both BP and WP are very latest stable versions and theme is a default BP.
this is the wordpress theme im using https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/admired
and here is the url to my site that im working on: http://rfdesignstudio.com/teensite/
Wow @mercime – awesome, thanks!
I followed your instructions, plus added the css in the link above to style.css in the child theme. The only other change I needed to make was adding this to align the text with the avatar image:
`div#item-header-avatar img {
align: left;
}`
And so far everything looks good!
Thank you again – you are such an amazing resource here in the support forums and I can’t thank you enough!!
@rafferjr You’d either need to revise 16 BP template files or just create 2 files and upload to server. It all depends on your HTML structure. Which Admire WP theme, URI to theme demo?
@sarbanharble you’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.
I want to extend my sincerest thank you for your help.
I just need to tweak the style sheet a bit, but otherwise it’s great. Thanks.
hi again @juanmaguerrero, I do not have any customizations, just child theme of bp-default (local at the moment) and your 2 steps. When I switch to “updates” in drop-down of site wide activity directory, I see my 3 activity updates. Now I press page refresh, 3 activities are still there, but every move of scroll bar returns “Sorry, there was no activity found. Please try a different filter.”
If you won’t be able to recreate it again, will send you some video from my test site in approx. 10 hours, it’s already night here. Drop me some email. thanks!
The register form appears to be displaying when I visit the link?!
I’m afraid that you are asking theme specific questions and this support forum is really geared to buddypress itself and it’s default theme. Salutation does a have support forums and asking there will get you a far better response also they will have guides that you should read and follow.
The top tabs are accessed from /wp-admin/themes.php?page=sidebars-top-tabs you need to also do something about adding their behaviour in the Appearance > widgets page
Registration is still associated with the Register page. I switched to a BP theme and it is no different. When I went to Pages>Register, I find that ll of the html code is stripped out. The pages are there. but no code. It’s pretty much useless to me.
im redoing the process over cause now the buddypress login wont appear on the top anymore
i dont see it in the template packed themes list, i cant figure out where to edit the code. i have done it in the style.css and placed that same style.css in the child folder it created as well. Im new to wordpress so im not familiar with how it intergrated it to my current theme. i went to the plugin/buddypress and dont see a style theme in there. i did change the divs in the index.php of each folder as instructed by other links and that somewhat fixed the issue of the width. any thoughts?
