In reply to: New Plugins Causing Styling to Disappear
David Veldt
ParticipantHmm, I’m assuming you mean the members and groups folders within my theme – in which case no, I just checked and there isn’t a plugins.php file in either one. There also isn’t one in forums, blogs or activity (not sure if that matters).
I’m curious, if everything works fine in all of my default tabs, why would I be looking specifically at members and groups? Also, where would I get the correct plugins.php files to place in these folders?
Thanks!

MemberThanks mercime!
Followed the tutorial and it seems to be integrated in a fashion, although there is no formatting on the Buddypress pages (!). So something is up with the css I presume? … or perhaps it also has something to do with Navigation Links which I struggling to get my head around .
Also, the header image in TwentyEleven which has now disappeared!
Any suggestions chaps?December 7, 2011 at 3:31 am #125720In reply to: Buddypress and ThemeTwenty Eleven?
@mercime
ParticipantSure, BP does work with Twenty Eleven and BP Template Pack. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/

ParticipantYou said it, something went awry in your theme’s functions.php when you updated/revised it. Revert to previous/original version of theme’s functions.php

ParticipantSimplest way: On lines 38 and 42 of https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.1/bp-themes/bp-default/blogs/blogs-loop.php try changing
“
to
`/blog`So if you’re using a bp-default child theme, create a folder named blogs and copy over blogs-loop.php over from bp-default theme and make the changes. If you used BP template pack plugin, open up the file in blogs folder transferred to your WP theme.

@mercime
Participant#1 and #2 I suggest you contact Headway theme devs/support as they know their complicated theme inside and out. Although I’m sure they know it by now, you can refer them to the BP Template Pack compatibility process – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
#3 – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ Though again, something you should bring over to Headway theme devs/support.

ParticipantTry this. Add the following to your current theme style.css file (it will override the plugin css):
`/*Custom BP Profile Search*/
#bps_Form .editfield {width:110px;display:inline-block;}
#bps_Form h5 {display:none;}`December 6, 2011 at 3:16 am #125672In reply to: Cant get 1.5 site wide forum to work.

ParticipantRe: Theme
Try Trending by Justin Tadlock multiple nav menus https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/trending
Recommend building and activating a child theme of Trending then with the child theme activated, install and activate the BP Template Pack and go through the compatibility process.Re: Can’t get to Support page
Go to admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages > Directories – Discussion Forums and select -None- and click on Save button. Then run Settings > Permalinks to the year/month setting I set up earlier.December 6, 2011 at 1:46 am #125662In reply to: Cant get 1.5 site wide forum to work.

MemberForgive me @mercime but I did exactly what you told me not to do and now can’t get to the support page. I’m sorry. I have tried installing a different theme and then going back to the Buddypress default, but that doesn’t work – please save me!

Member@mercime The problem with the Buddypress theme is that the menu headings disappear. I had two rows of menus, which have now vanished. Can you recommend any other Buddypress compatible themes which accomodate this and / or that look more appealing.

ParticipantPlease do not post test username and password with admin privileges in this forum. I’ve deleted the information. Delete the user you created.
Graphene is a nice theme but spout out too many errors – from creating the sitewide forums index page where it required post thumbnails etc. to adding the page to main navigation where it included the shortcode used to generate the forum index page.
The sitewide forums is functioning http://www.meetinbradford.org/support/ using the bp-default theme.
Reminder: Do not click on Repair button in – “The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Discussion Forums”.December 5, 2011 at 3:00 pm #125631In reply to: Problems with translatin

MemberI was able to get it going: I got latest from https://github.com/Themekraft/Custom-Community/blob/master/functions.php. Then with the latest, I put the code in above in the new format for the includes, and everything seems to be fixed.
Thanks!

Participant– First deactivate Custom Community theme and change to Twenty Eleven theme.
– Install and activate BuddyPress. Change to bp-default theme and see everything is in working order.
– Custom Community has the latest version 1.8.8 you can download at github https://github.com/Themekraft/Custom-Community/blob/master/style.css. Upload this latest version and activate.
December 5, 2011 at 2:58 am #125599In reply to: PLZ HELP! (edit profile missing)
@mercime
ParticipantNot BuddyPress because the profile edit page is in the bp-default theme as I linked to above in my first post. Just strange, because it’s working in my installations and at BuddyPress demo site at http://testbp.org/
What I would do if that happened to me is
– Deactivate All plugins and change to Twenty Eleven theme
– Re-upload BuddyPress plugin manually i.e. via FTP/cpanel/etc.
– Activate BuddyPress plugin only
– Activate bp-default theme
– Cross fingers that Profile > Edit page will show up.December 5, 2011 at 12:00 am #125586In reply to: PLZ HELP! (edit profile missing)

@mercime
ParticipantChange to bp-default theme and you’ll see all the Pages generated so far. Use custom menu feature and choose which links you want to be there in main navigation. https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/
December 4, 2011 at 11:04 pm #125576In reply to: Custom text strings
@mercime
ParticipantYou need to create a child theme of the bp-default theme. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Then follow the instructions here https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ as @aces mentioned above
