Memberright on…. @anointed and @4ella… this does provide some more possibilities… and definately some useful code snippets looking into these plug-ins.
Regarding the group blog plugin……..Implementing MU, P2 theme, and setting up “networks” might be a little overkill for this purpose…. as it looks like creation and editing of posts by group members is still limited in terms of being able to include meta fields and custom taxonomies, and would have to built from scratch regardless. As well the media manager and other WP publishing tools are not part of this plug-in / theme setup.
my feeling that IF this extended functionality needs to be built ON TOP of MU / buddypress plug-in such as “groupblog” (which is an awesome plug-in by the way) things can get complicated quickly….. (and unnecessarily)…..
So the cleanest solution so far seems to be matching posts to groups using taxonomy…. which Im sure we could agree could be improved upon greatly…..
Thanks again for the feedback!

Participantactually, everything was fine while I’ve been testing WP 3.1.5 BP 1.2.8. (it means jquery 1.3.2 in code and 1.4.4 in WP), PROBABLY, issue is not in external/internal jquery, but in changes of later versions, 1.6.1 in our case (this is what I have found https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-have-comment-and-replies-collapse-and-expand/?topic_page=5&num=15#post-103151). And now older versions from our child themes (who uses external jquery) have conflict with internal 1.6.1.

Participant@boonebgorges I have just tried everything out on the same install with ALL plugins still ACTIVE but this time using the default theme and everything is okay.
I take it that it is now something in my theme causing the issue.
Would I be right to assume with it working in BP Default that my plugins are all okay to keep using? It isn’t those causing the issue but my theme? I do have an accordion that uses JS I think. It works but maybe causing a conflict?

Participanthi @rossagrant, just found why.
in my case it was tutorial re how to hide/reveal activity replies. (I did not use plugin, therefore, these are lines
`
`
in header of my child theme.
if you do not use this tutorial, or plugin from the same author, check all other plugins, which use jquery.

The link 4ella gave for the front-end post form at BuddyDev is in a premium forum, you need to be a subscriber to the site to gain access. I am a member (so is 4ella) and can attest that the plugins, themes, code snippets and help that the site owner provides is nothing less than extraordinary. The front-end post form that he is working on should allow posting to the main blog, the user’s own blog(s), as well as groups the user is a member of. It should also support custom post types/taxonomies. A beta of the plugin should be released within the next few days.

You could also check out Quick Post Widget which supports custom taxonomies. The latest version is shortcode enabled so you can add the post form in any post/page.

ParticipantHang on. I think I led you a bit astray with Buddypress Links. It does what you want, yes, but it creates links to already existing web pages/sites/videos/images/etc. You are however limited to only one display image, but it fetches all available images automatically and gives you the choice of which to use as the avatar. You can see an example of it working here: http://buddylite.com/links/
Creating a custom post type would link back to the author’s BP profile, just like any blog post. Basic CSS rules could then be added to your theme’s style.css to display the entries in a directory-like fashion on an archive page.
Another solution altogether could be to simply add a front-end post form like Quick-Post-Widget that allows posting only to a category you create specifically for this purpose (Businesses). Then create a menu item linking to that category archive in WP custom menus. Your theme’s archive.php template can be customized to display posts in that category in any directory-like fashion you prefer (grid, list, etc.). Finally, a category-specific search plugin could be used in your theme allowing users to specify the “Businesses” category you created.

MemberActually, as everything i tryied failed, the only thing i’ve done is to create a child theme as its explained here https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
And changed the size of the header.
So basically i’m just beggining. If someone could tell me step by step, not assuming i know anything at all xD
I have the default coding. Need to make my header a link to home, so if some 1 clicks it, it goes to home, and if it’s possible for it to change between 3 or 4 img’s, it would be great.
Thanks.

ModeratorIf you hold out a bit I’ll update theme when BP 1.3 gets released, that version has custom navs built in. 1.3 should be coming soon.

)table.forum td img.avatar {display:none;}

ParticipantWhat’s not clear is what you have done so far and if you have indeed created a child theme of bp-default. Help us help you.

@mercime
ParticipantI assumed you wanted to use the bp-default theme. But it’s bad practice to make the changes there because those will be overwritten when you upgrade BP. So it’s prudent to create a child theme of bp-default theme – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

The cimy one didn’t work, going to try the 1st one.

ParticipantThis is often a problem with the Javascript code (from the default theme) requiring a very specific div naming and layout structure. If you change (improve and simplify) the default themes’s html in your theme, then the Javascript for managing the ordering / sorting will no longer work correctly.

@mercime
ParticipantIf you’ve created a child theme of bp-default, you could disable the custom header function by adding the following to your theme’s functions.php
`define( ‘BP_DTHEME_DISABLE_CUSTOM_HEADER’, true );`From that point on, you could search for a plugin which does what you need
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-display-header/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cimy-header-image-rotator/

ParticipantUsing bp-default theme, if you allowed registration in your single WP or multisite, then the registration page will show up when visitors click on “Register” link.
