    Whenever I try to add a link i get the following error message:

    Please fill in all of the required fields.

    As far as I can tell there is only one field. The link url. The other 2, Edit Avatar Options & Edit Advanced Settings have nothing in them.

    I am running wordpress single user, BP 1.2 stable and BP Links dev. version.

    You need to upgrade to WPMU 2.9.1.1 to use BP 1.2.

    Also since you were using 1.0.3, I would have recommended upgrading to 1.1.3 first before upgrading to 1.2.

    One other thing, you might also need the BP Backwards Compatibility plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-backwards-compatibility/

    Arrowchat looks cool. Their screenshots advertise WordPress integration, so a BP integration should be quite simple.

    Rather than having a fancy AJAX footer chat, I would much prefer a chat app that has some form of permissible group functionality.

    I don’t really understand what you mean. You can create a static WordPress page and set that as the home page under “Settings > Reading”.

    WordPress 2.8.4a and had BuddyPress 1.0.3 installed… We were having avatar issues with IE6 (crop tool wasn’t appearing)… I read that an upgrade would fix this as it uses JCrop in later versions… So I pressed the upgrade automatically to 1.2 and got the white screen… So I deleted the new buddypress files and directories and restored all my old buddypress files. Then only my header was appearing and I got an error message saying:

    PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_login_bar()

    So I figured my bp-core.php wasn’t being called, so I manually added this entry to my custom_functions.php file…

    require_once(‘/var/www/html/blog1/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php’);

    So all my pages work now except for my BuddyPress pages!!! Please Help!

    Thanks,

    Chew

    Ok. So I’ve tried Comet Chat. Listen to me carefully..Do Not Buy. Horrible documentation, horrible support (or lack there of) and didn’t work properly with BuddyPress.

    On the bright side. Here is what you need and should released with a week that will work with WordPress and I’m sure BuddyPress with little or no changes:

    No problem. I would suggest mentioning the WPMU requirement on https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-wiki/ as well. :)

    I have released our BuddyPress Group Wiki plugin:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-wiki/

    I’ve not had a chance to clean it up much so please consider it very much unstable at the moment.

    For support I’ll try to keep an eye on this thread. If you want to test it without installing, try it out on http://namoo.co.uk. I also check that site regularly and am better able to monitor support requests/feature requests there.

    This plugin is released under the GNU AGPL. Basically this means that you can use it for free and modify it however you like, as long as you provide those modifications for free to the WordPress community.

    Ok. Sorry about that, it was obvious to me =).

    Where it says: “Ännu ingen aktivitet.” That is the same as “no activity yet”. That is where the activity should have been shown. It worked with this combination of Buddypress and WordPress MU in the start. Then something happened. I have tried to deactivate all plugins, but it still does not work…

    Everything is standard settings…

    I’m not sure when 1.2 final will be out. The revisions of the release candidates moved by quickly, so one can hope it would be soon?

    If you’d like a BP 1.2.rc3+WPMU tester, drop a message.

    Also is https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-links/download/ the place to look to if there are revised betas coming out (say 0.4-beta for example)? Keep up the great work!

    There is nothing protecting spammers from registering on testbp.org. I get some occasionally, but I nuke them with “mark as spam” as soon as they pop up. I found since with the new default theme spam has reduced significantly.

    SI Captcha is a good spam prevention method. There really are a lot of options, but don’t search for “BuddyPress spam prevention”… this is not a BP issue, it’s a WordPress issue. You need to search for WordPress spam prevention instead.

    Not only wpmu, wordpress Standard also has the spam registation problem.. especially with buddypress.

    @m@rk I know SI captcha work with buddypress. I created a test installation and tried, its works there.. but when i tried in another shared hosting package of same server, it doesn’t. I dont know the reason. The image is not get displayed….

    Template is not loading in case of WordPress single user…but the same code works on WPMU…

    if ( $bp->current_component == BP_EXAMPLE_SLUG && !$bp->is_single_item &&

    !$bp->displayed_user->id){

    $bp->is_directory = true;

    bp_example_load_template( ‘example/index’ );

    }

    and I have implemented bp_example_load_template function as given by MrMaz.

    Anybody having same problem???

    I am using WP 2.9.1 (Single user) with BP1.2 RC2 and WPMU 2.9.1.1 with BP 1.2 RC2

    Thanks :-)

    I know this sounds like a strange request – here is what I want to do:

    I would like to have the BP-Admin-Bar on top of a website, that’s not in the same install and not even wordpress. Would take to far to explain why :-) – but that’s what I need.

    Is there a way to do that?

    Or could I create a wordpress-blog, which has the admin bar on top, but the content below (only the external website) loads with a 301-redirect (in a frame or something). Would about google with those ideas?

    Maybe I sound like a total greenhorn, but any help and an elegant solution would greatly be appreciated!!!

    This is a problem with WPMU and spammers simply wanting to register spam blogs. I’ve not really seen the problem on standard WordPress, and with blog registration disabled.

    I read that article. At the end of it, there is a suggestion for using Invisible-defender plugin modified for buddypress. I tried that plugin, but it shows error when a registered user try to login. The plugin available at wordpress plugin site is not for buddypress i think.. Anyway i installed the latest from wordpress plugin site. Let me wait and check whether it block spam registration.

    I recommend the SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam plugin: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/si-captcha-for-wordpress/

    Hi,

    I have a question on installing multiple buddpress on a single site under sub-domains.

    Lets say I have a domain http://www.abc.com

    I have subdomains say http://www.us.abc.com, http://www.uk.abc.com, and so on.

    I re direct the users to a sub-domain based on their country.

    I need to keep everything separate for each sub domain.. so i install wordpress+buddypress separately on each sub-domain.

    Q1 – is it possible to have such an installation

    Q2 – how well would this installation scale ? How many such sub-domains can i have?

    Q3 – How will the blogs work if i select “sub-domain” option during installation. Will a user have a blog url as http://www.myblog.us.abc.com ???

    I’ve been using RPX plugin, but I still haven’t figured out to sync user avatars.

    There’s a hack with using user local avatars plugin for wordpress, but it doesn’t seem to work well with 1.2 RC3.

    Hi ,

    I see that users who are not logged in can visit almost all pages in Buddypress. however, they cannot post anything.

    Is it possible to re-direct such users to the Sign up page or home page and stop they from viewing other pages.

    This must be a wordpress setting, but can anyone point me out to this option.

    Thanks

    Wow! You could install BP in Yahoo! Hosting? I’ve seen many support questions at WordPress.org/forums where users are bogged down or get errors with that hosting, didn’t know that Yahoo! had mod_rewrite enabled

    You can login on the sidebar at http://3rut.com/3rut/ where your BP is installed. Not sure if this is going to work with Yahoo! hosting, but test if this could be added to your wp-config.php

    Allow BuddyPress to function on multiple blogs of a WPMU installation, not just on one root blog:

    define ( 'BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG', true );

    I installed a BuddyPress powered site with following information:

    Standard WordPress 2.9.2

    BuddyPress 1.2 RC3

    Installed on subdirectory /3rut

    Fresh install

    Using Yahoo web hosting

    Each time we click the links which belong to BuddyPress will appear “The page you were looking for was not found”

    And also if we log in using the right-sidebar widget it will not work, but if we log in using the top-buddybar will work well.

    I am hopeful that you will test it by using following information:

    Site: http://3rut.com

    Username: buddypress

    Password: buddypress

    Help me please.

    Any comments will cordially welcomed.

    Thank you very much in advance.
