    Fatal error: fatal flex scanner internal error–end of buffer missed in /home/vashokk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-maps/bp-maps.php on line 594

    One other guy asked a similar question here :http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-buddypress-maps-fatal-error?replies=2

    Does anybody have idea on this issue?

    Yes, /httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress and all the *.php files exist.

    I use the default buddypress theme. I don’t use any plugins besides buddypress. My httpdocs is chmod 777 for installation. BP has written the following into .htaccess:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    # END WordPress

    bb-config.php has the same config for database as wp-config.php.

    I have following tables in my db.

    Is it a problem if you are running BuddyPress in a subdomain like http://sub.domain.pl?

    Hi all –

    After upgrading a 2.something WPMU site with BP 1.1 to WP 3.0 multisite and BP 1.2.5 and changing to the new bp-default theme, everything went great. Except …

    Despite only having the bp-default theme set as a network theme (no other themes exist), newly created sites are getting pegged with a “WordPress Default” theme. And since that doesn’t exist, it’s a whitescreen of death if the user doesn’t go in and activate the BP theme. I see the WordPress Default as the option in the DB for newly created sites.

    What’s going on here? How can this be fixed?

    Hi Paul,

    I just tried this fix, but it didn’t work: http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/ie8-compatibility-mode.

    Below is a list of my active plugins. But I’m not sure if it’s a plugin issue because the cropping works in Firefox. Is it an IE8 compatibilty issue? If so, how can I get around it?

    Here are my active plugins:
    * Advanced Permalinks
    * AJAX Login Widget++
    * BP-NotificationWidget
    * BP Disable Activation
    * BP Hide Widgets
    * BP Member Filter
    * BuddyPress
    * BuddyPress Album+
    * Buddypress Widget Pack
    * Capability Manager
    * Dean’s Permalinks Migration
    * Enhanced BuddyPress Widgets
    * Fast Secure Contact Form
    * Fluency Admin
    * IE7 Compatibility
    * Invite Anyone
    * Media Library Gallery
    * My Comments Manager
    * NextGEN Gallery
    * NextGEN Gallery Sidebar Widget
    * Nicer permalinks for Vietnamese
    * oEmbed for BuddyPress
    * ourSTATS Widget
    * Peter’s Login Redirect
    * Plugin Central
    * SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
    * Simple Trackback Validation
    * TDLC Birthdays
    * Theme Switcher Reloaded
    * Top 10
    * Transposh Translation Filter
    * User Permissions
    * Visitor Maps and Who’s Online
    * Welcome Pack
    * WordPress Admin Bar
    * WordPress Database Backup

    Thanks for your help!

    @paduy – there could be a number of reasons: file write permissions on .htaccess, restrictions with your server setup, etc.

    You need to get your basic WordPress installation working correctly before attempting to install / activate BuddyPress.

    @paduy –

    If your standard WordPress install doesn’t work with custom permalinks (e.g. /%category%/%postname%/)… then your problem is not in BuddyPress.

    You need to fix your base WordPress install first of all. BuddyPress won’t work if you don’t have custom permalinks working correctly.

    Do you get any error message when you try to configure custom permalinks (e.g. problems accessing the .htaccess file)?

    @rogercoathup no, they are normal blogposts actually :)
    with wordpress 3 you could use custom post types of course, but i didn’t need them.

    Was haben sie benützt für den Locations? Sind Sie WordPress Custom Post Types?

    Test it with just WordPress installed … BuddyPress de-activated.

    Can you change the permalinks to a custom structure e.g. /%category%/%postname%/ and still view pages / categories without problem?

    You need WordPress working correctly with permalinks.

    If that’s OK, then install / activate BuddyPress, select the BuddyPress default theme, and check everything works.

    Once you’ve done this, you can install your language packs, plugins, etc.

    Yes. WordPress does blogging very well.

    @jwack – it won’t be easy as a non-programmer.

    Your best route is probably to make use of switch_to_blog(); and use a ‘standard’ WordPress posts loop on each blog in turn.

    Search ‘wordpress loop’ in Google. You’ll also need to call functions to fetch the author, etc.

    You may be able to figure out your loop code from the examples on the WordPress codex… if not, there’s no short cut and you should book up on the PHP programming language.

    I learned a lot about buddypress and wordpress custom fields today. Some thing I loved some things I didn’t. Still can’t seem to get it to function the way I would like. I can store the custom fields from the front end but I cannot display the fields in the activity stream with the post. It doesn’t seem to be possible yet.

    @jimsnaps “So is there no way to use buddypress, block out what’s not needed, and add an article mod? “
    I answered based on your requirements, and you mentioned forums were optional :-) No intention to limit you at all, just keeping it simple and clear. Of course you could install BuddyPress, and activate only the component/s you need at this time.

    If you want the Forums component, know that you need to activate Groups component as well because the BP forums component is attached to groups. And members automatically join a group by default when they post to the group’s forum unless that group is private and no-one can post to that group’s forum unless invited to join the group. I also suggest reading through this general reference
    https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/

    Of course with BP activated, there’s the One Quick Post plugin which will allow your members to post articles from the frontend. However, you will need to code using BP blog loop to generated the list of posts that each member has posted in your blog to show up in individual member’s profile page.

    If you do not want to go through all that, install external bbPress forum and integrate it with your WordPress installation. When you’re ready to use BuddyPress components, BP can integrate existing external group forum to its fold – again, with the caveat that forum will be then be attached to groups.

    It sounds like you didn’t run the bbPress setup installer, or that something went wrong during that setup process.

    Go to Dashboard > BuddyPress > Forum Setup, and click Setup a new bbPress installation. Re-install if it asks you to.

    If it still doesn’t work, check to make sure there’s a bb-config.php file in the root of your WordPress installation, and that the credentials in that file are correct.

    Okay, thanks for the response. But let me rephrase, as your recommendation at the surface almost seems to limiting.

    I would like to have the options, as things grow, to use other parts of the system. Also, I would not want to use some third party forum when I can use bbpress.org.

    So is there no way to use buddypress, block out what’s not needed, and add an article mod? Trim it down to just the profile system to start and an article posting function?
