In reply to: Allow new registrations options
Here’s definition.
http://wpmu.org/the-wordpress-mu-guide/site-options/standard-site-options/
wpmu doesn’t have the option you are looking for. But you can use 2nd option with a plugin to moderate new blogs. To find out more, visit wpmu forums and wpmudev.
This has nothing to do with BuddyPress.
In reply to: Alternatives to these WP pluginsAll or most of wordpress plugins DO WORK on wpmu under /plugins/ folder. But for the case of /mu-plugins/ folder, you should only use the plugins that supports wpmu in general.
In reply to: subdomain helpYou’ve posted this on another thread as well. wpmu forum is where you should ask these kind of questions.
In reply to: Users unable to create blogskunal17, did you contact the support of both hostgator and godaddy? If you go to wpmu forum you’ll find detailed answers and information as buddypress is just a plugin running on wpmu.
Perhaps you need to visit wpmu and read some documents there, to understand more about what wpmu does and buddypress does. That should give you clear definitions and directions when you face troubles in the future.
Did you read this document?

In reply to: How to: Add a new menu sectionadding another menu link is just a simple html add on header.php…
but not sure about making another directory template. But I think it shouldn’t be that difficult.
This question is about wpmu and not buddypress. anyway, those nonactivated users are deleted after 3 days (as far as I remember). There’re also plugins to enable the same email address registrations.
BuddyPress can just be installed one-click from plugins page. The only thing you need is installed wpmu on your server.
Either this happens or not, it’s actually MediaTemple’s job and not something dev teams at BuddyPress does.
In reply to: Feature: new users can’t send messagesCool, but when do you think you can release with this function?
In reply to: How to make “about me” kinda profile field? The solution for RC2 isn’t working anymore on 1.0 official release.
Is there another function change between RC2 and 1.0?
In reply to: buddypress it updates itself?I figured, that it was bp-invites plugin that triggered update. BuddyPress no core plugins shouldn\’t be updated from admin panel, but FTP. That\’s from my experience.

FTP gets hyperlinked. wondering why…
In reply to: r1416 and bp-custom (not working)aha…that’s something I must have missed. Thanks!
In reply to: What are you doing for Spamwpmudev has an anti spam plugin for signup form. Also Donncha has another plugin for wpmu and comments.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailmy default themes are the ones with rc2, but can’t reply. I’m certain because I had hard time fixing my css as I mistakenly deleted everything when I updated to rc2 official release.
In reply to: Welcome Pack update requestVer. 1.1 works fine with rc2 except that default group is not associated with the new user. This is what’s happening with my install.
Did we have message function on this plugin, btw?
In reply to: Securing components from non logged in usersoops, the code doesn’t work anymore on rc2.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailI’m not sure if I’m using it correctly or not. But type the problem, attach file if any, and submit. right?
In reply to: 404 on Change PasswordLink doesn’t matter unless we have accounts on your site.

anyway, what versions are you running?
I just changed password on my install and went fine. Maybe bbpress is causing something. But I don’t have bbpress yet on my site.
In reply to: Google Maps for GroupsWe have another google map topic here, which is to show google maps on profiles. Look at the source, and perhaps you can use it as a base.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailI wish I could contribute, but I got no skills to code.

btw, I don’t see active forum users reporting problems/bugs on the trac. Perhaps they don’t know they can simply do it with the same account.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailI’ve posted this last night.
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2352
rc2 has so many bugs that disable basic features. Bug fix should be released asap.
Since other users are facing this, I’ve made this ticket as critical.
In reply to: you can install only the admin bar?I think what you want is only profile enabled and other disabled.
Buddypress has options to enable/disable what features do you want to use.
In reply to: custom slug via bp-custom makes menu icons disappearOk, I solved this.
When changing slugs, css needs to be hacked a little to show the icons properly. For example, when you change groups slug to communities in bp-custom like this:
define('BP_GROUPS_SLUG', 'communities');You will need to find the following css entry from base.css locating at bp-themes/buddypress-member/css/.
li a#user-groups, li a#my-groups {background: url(../images/groups_bullet.gif) 88% 52% no-repeat;}Copy above, create a file called custom.css if you haven’t done yet. Modify the css to:
li a#user-communities, li a#my-communities {background: url(../../images/groups_bullet.gif) 88% 52% no-repeat;}And upload custom.css to bp-themes/buddypress-member/css/custom-components/
That’s it!!
In reply to: Admin BackendThis thing is not buddypress, so it should be posted on wpmu forum. n/w, I see everything properly on 2.7.1 and rc2.
Control themes here: ursite/wp-admin/wpmu-themes.php
bp-themes/buddypress-member/css/directories.css Look for #letter-list
