In reply to: Buddypress x-profile visibility doesn’t work
Have you tried confirming this behavior on a fresh install? If so i’d put in a trac ticket otherwise you’re probably going to be on your own for that one. It’s possible your import process is the root of the cause.
In reply to: Stopping anonymous group creationin buddypress settings under Groups Settings and the heading Group Creation un-check the box that says “Enable group creation for all users”
In reply to: Member Countermaybe you can just use the code from the members page?
from the admin bar go under your name to messages > all member notices you can activate and de-active notices from there.
ps you can also delete them on the same page.
In reply to: Stop Spam, Allow Members to Flag Spammers, etc.@jconti yup
In reply to: Stop Spam, Allow Members to Flag Spammers, etc.@jconti 3.6 and 1.8.1 not sure if that qualifies.
In reply to: How to get a “Trending” list from users postsmaybe someone should add a feature request on trac. maybe one already exists?
In reply to: Need to Reinstall Buddypressposts will only get recorded as activity if buddypress is active the behavior you are seeing is normal. there maybe a plugin out there that can re-construct activity entries from post dates or something but i’m not personally aware of anything that does that.
In reply to: Better descriptions, and management of relationshipsit’s interesting you should say that was thinking of building a custom theme for families using buddypress and would also be interested to know if that’s possible.
In reply to: Group Management (feature request)best place for that kind of thing is:
buddypress.trac.wordpress.org
In reply to: Stop Spam, Allow Members to Flag Spammers, etc.that new feature in wangguard is neat but it doesn’t seem to be working us. moderation queue indicates reported users exist but doesn’t display them in the list.
🙁
pretty sure @trishasalas patched that in either 1.8 or 1.8.1
In reply to: Is BuddyPress fit for my needs?i think i already did at least as far as i can anyway.
In reply to: Is BuddyPress fit for my needs?i would say yes although some of the functionality may need to be extended depending on the exact nature of these classes. here’s some additional buddypress stuff that may interest you:

In reply to: Unable to disable buddypress, help please…Can you rename the buddypress folder in the server causing no problem???
yes well that is the standard way to deactivate plugins when they don’t want to cooperate or if you cannot access wpadmin because of the fault so i don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t work.
you need to have a blank pages to select the wizard is supposed to create them i think for new installs but yeah hit the new page button then repair.
In reply to: Unable to disable buddypress, help please…try renaming the folder through ftp
In reply to: Buddy Press Networkwide Recent Poststhat widget has nothing to do with groups its shows posts from other blogs/sites on your multisite network that wouldn’t normally be visible on the primary blog/site.
In reply to: Server Requirements (SW & HW)10k concurrent users is definitely a large number to be shooting for and correlates to something like a million visitors a day. in that case you would be running one of the most heavily trafficked site on the internet i would not be qualified to make hardware recommendations for anything like that but lets just say you would never want to start with that kind of overhead because you are talking many thousands of dollars a month just for bandwidth.
For a more realistic starting point i usually recommend some kind of linux vps. Usually memory and storage is not a concern with these kind of configurations but again this is nothing like a situation with 10k visitors on your site at any given time (buddypress or no).
In reply to: Dynamic URL profile links for WP Nav Menufor what it’s worth i do believe that will make it into 1.9 which is due november 7th.
have you tested this with the default or 2012 theme to see if it’s theme related?
also not generally a good idea to put full paths urls for your resources on a public site.In reply to: Dynamic URL profile links for WP Nav Menunot sure might require a plugin but for what it’s worth i already have a trac ticket for adding dynamic links for login/logout/register and i have added those to the ticket:
In reply to: Making Youtube videos responsiveoh hum the default theme maybe you should a open trac ticket on that one? i believe its still being supported even though theme compatibility is the preferred method. anyone know off hand if the BP default theme still comes packaged? haven’t really done a fresh buddypress install since 1.7.
In reply to: Making Youtube videos responsivei think that’s actually more of a theme thing if the container is responsive then the oembeds should also respond. are you maybe not using oembeds?
In reply to: Spami would look into wangguard no perfect solution exists currently but that one is certainly one of the best and blocks about 90% of our spam regs.
