Just want to know if it’s behaving correctly.
I see “Example” as a tab in members profile
I see Example under settings on Member profile page
I see Example in Admin Bar under ?My Account”
However, I get 404 errors when I:
click on the “Example” link under settings
try to use any variation of the “/example/” slug to find a main page for example
select “Example” from the Settings menu in the admin bar.
I just want to know if this is expected behavior upon activation or should the slug “example” be working instead of giving 404 errors.
Surprised there wasn’t a thread since although well documented internally, you sorta need to know wp/bp structure to figure this stuff out.
Using wpmu 2.8.2 and bp 1.0.3.
When a user signs up for a buddypress account, the activation link given in the email leads to a 404 page. To bypass this could I somehow remove the necessity of activating via email?
Is there any way to have it so that a user does not need to activate their account through an email?
Thanks
Topic: member domain problem
Using wpmu 2.8.2 and bp 1.0.3.
Have wpmu and bp installed in a sub-directory of the main domain – domain.com/blog/. Everything works for the most part, but having 404 errors during registration process and url to member blogs.
The activation link and blog links are in this format – username.domain.com/blog/, but that returns a 404 Page Not Found error. However, when I manually type in the url like this – domain.com/blog/members/username, it shows up. Is there a way to fix that?
Hello!
I’m really excited about this, but got one minor obstacle standing in my way…
I have bp installed and working.
But when I sign up for a new account, I get the confirmation email, click the activation link and it takes me to the confirmation page where you can either return to home or login.
When I click on login, the http://mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://mydomain.com give me an 404 error.
On the buddypress bar, however, I click on login, and it takes me to http://mydomain.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com and works fine.
Any idea why the login from the account activation email won’t work?
Topic: 404 Errors
Hi,
I’ve downloaded and installed WP-MU and BP, following the installation instructions. I’ve chosen the default BP home theme. But everytime I click on sign up, my webserver returns a 404 error – “Requested URL /mysite/register was not found on this server” – and I can’t find it either. My WP-MU copy is installed in a directory outside the root directory, and gets linked with an Alias. The same applies to a profile page, activation page (Using normal WP sign up)
Could you please help me?
Thank You
Hey Guys,
After a long battle with 404 errors I’ve got my bphome theme working correctly, but the member theme doesn’t want to work. The “bp-themes” folder is in the “wp-content” folder and the two member themes show up in the BuddyPress Settings on the admin panel.
However I get the error “You do not have any BuddyPress themes installed.
Please move “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/” to “/wp-content/bp-themes/” and refresh this page. You can download more themes here.” at the theme activation page.
The pages that would use the theme just show up with “Sorry, this page could not be found” when you try and find them online.
I’ve tried changing it to the skeleton theme and back again without any success.
Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I have the whole WPMU installation in a sub directory, would that affect anything?
Topic: Activation page login link
When an account is activated, the activation confirmation page includes a login link. The issue is that the login link always includes a redirect ( http://test10.website.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=website.com ) that ultimately takes the user to a 404 page at http://test10.website.com/website.com when they login.
It’s probably not ideal for the user to get an error upon their first login…..it also means they will not be greeted by the edublogs style welcome post we have created with some hints and links to basic posting functions…
Our bp community is in a directory at website.com/community/, but users still register from website.com/register… so I’m not sure if that is relevant…
Any feedback appreciated!!
On my site http://www.realfam.com you can click “sign up” and go through the steps and you get the standard message saying your account was created and you need to activate. You get the activation email, but when you click on the link it takes you to the Login Page…and you dont have a password yet. If you click the link inth eemail again you get a 404 error. Any ideas? thsi worked a few hours ago just fine.
