Participant@aliona_k you’d need the bbPress plugin to set up Sitewide and/or Group forums in BuddyPress

ParticipantI replied to you on bbPress.org, but it’s the same answer. The only thing is that BuddyPress is the social network aspect of the plugins whereas bbPress is the forum. You can install both onto your WordPress install and they will take the style of your WordPress theme.

ParticipantThis was happening to me for the longest time on here and bbPress.org, but it seems to have fixed itself now. It was always fine on WordPress.org.

ParticipantAllright, I’ve solved the problem.
I needed to activate the “always include” option for JS. Although the “include JS” & “include CSS” options were checked, apparently the third option is required in order to upload files attached to private group posts. Thanks for the clue!

ParticipantDear Mercime,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to attach PDF, DOCX and simple TXT files.I do use GD-bbPress-attachments Version 1.9.2. I have checked the settings, they all seem correct.
Strangely, the behaviour of the posting page doesn’t seem to upload the file I’ve selected, e.g. when I attach a file to any post, the uploading time of the page takes a few second (uploading of the file), whereas when I do the same on a private forum, the uploading time is almost instantaneous, as if the file was simple not uploadedJuly 11, 2013 at 9:23 am #167918@mercime
Participant@jais-p What kinds of files are you attaching? Are you using https://wordpress.org/plugins/gd-bbpress-attachments/ ?

Participant@gcarlos8377
When troubleshooting it is wise to deactivate “ALL” plugins other than BP and maybe bbPress and reverting too either the Twenty Twelve theme or bp-default. Do not selectively keep certain plugins activated when troubleshooting because the one that is causing the issue may be the one you failed to deactivate. If the registration then works you can start reactivating each plugin individually while testing the registration process against it. When you find the one that caused the issue then you can either not use it, or request support from the plugins author.July 7, 2013 at 7:02 pm #167726In reply to: Failed migration of discussion forum to bbpress 2.3

RiGoRmOrTiS_UK
ParticipantI’m happy to forget filtering members by last activity date.
So to simplify it; can someone can tell me how to filter members from the member’s directory if their WordPress role is set to “no role on this site” (or the blocked role from bbpress). Also when hiding such members the pagination count in the members directory would also need to be correct; as the previous ideas remove the member but not the count; thus you get empty pages saying “showing members X – X” but nothing there.
I’m a totally inept when it comes to coding in PHP so any help really is appreciated.

Participant@mattg123 – everything is the original settings. I haven’t changed any settings. Everything is setup the basic way, I haven’t created any pages or used any short codes. I did try searching for similar problems on bbpress.org, but there is nothing there. I even disabled bbpress, deleted, re-downloaded, and re-installed it, and I am having the same issue.

Even after you install bbpress you will still need to configure it depending on if you plan on using group forums, sitewide forums, or both. Use this link which I had provided previously to get an idea of setting them up:
https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
After you get it set up you may still want to add the forums link to your navigation. The link has already been provided above. Please ready this material, it explains it much more clearly!July 4, 2013 at 7:01 am #167548In reply to: buddy press forum plugin

Something is getting lost in the translation here. I know there is a BuddyPress plugin hence we are in the BuddyPress support forums but you keep mentioning a “BuddyPress Forum Plugin.” If you want forums then you will need to install bbpress and use the links I supplied. You can get bbpress here:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/
BuddyPress just adds the social networking side of things like activity stream, members directories, extended profiles, adding friends, private messaging etc. If you need to have a forum you will need bbpress. Please do not take this offensively but you need to have a clear understanding of what BuddyPress is and what bbpress is because as stated before as of BuuddyPress 1.7 you will need to install bbpress which is a seperate plugin if forums is a requirement for your project. Have a look in the codex documentation to get a better understanding. Do a google search for BuddyPress and another for bbpress.July 4, 2013 at 6:19 am #167544In reply to: [Resolved] Forum Issue

Participant@fptcom How have you set the forums up? Have you created new wordpress pages and used shortcodes? Also, If you’ve disabled all plugins minus bbPress have you posted/looked through http://www.bbpress.org for similar problems? A small note, I found setting up bbPress slightly annoying as well, have you messed with the basic settings etc?

The link I supplied above explains the creation of the page. You may also want to add that page to a custom menu:
https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/
As far as I know there is no plugin named BuddyPress Forum Plugin. As stated above I am assuming your referring to bbpress so use the links I have supplied and it should help you out.July 4, 2013 at 3:11 am #167534In reply to: [Resolved] Forum Issue

Participant@mercime – Everything is the latest versions. I tried disabling all plugins (including BuddyPress) and just leave bbPress, and I also switched to twenty twelve theme, but I’m still having the same issue.
I’ll give you an example:
http://www.freepogotokens.com/forums/forum/rules-and-announcements/official-announcements/
That is the “Official Announcements” forum. But the RULES topic is in there, when it should just be in the “Rules” forum.
It gets even weirder in the “Introduce Yourself” forum, which is on an entire different category.
http://www.freepogotokens.com/forums/forum/new-members/introduce-yourself/
As you can see, there are topics in there that even say ” Started by: admin in: Rules ” and ” Started by: admin in: Official Announcements ”
Why would those topics be in there when they are clearly in different categories and forums?

I am assuming you are talking about bbpress forums since BuddyPress no longer comes packaged with bbpress as of BP 1.7 This should help explain how to set it up.
