Participant@shawn38 –
If no one comes back with an example, and you need to hire a developer to help write the code, you can try on the Jobs board on this site.

Roger Coathup
ParticipantThis will tell you about hook and action programming in WordPress: https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API
The do_action() calls are there for you to add your own hook functions, and in some cases will also invoke hook functions that BuddyPress / Themes / other plugins have added.
You can add your own hook function that is called when the do_action ‘bp_before_registration_confirmed’ is invoked. You use add_action to add your actions.

ParticipantHi All! I was having the same Fatal Error message and wasn’t able to access admin. But then just a few mins ago I upgraded buddypress successfully to 1.6!! Yippee!
What I did: Took a backup, DEACTIVATED all active plugins, then I Activated buddypress plugin only, Upgraded it, Voila I saw the update wizard, went through the steps, Reactivated all Recently Active Plugins, and Buddypress 1.6 is working nicely – Piece of Cake!!

ParticipantWell, @presence-films,
I found your posts actually helpful. It made me really look at how I am setting up buddypress and it also makes me mindful of being careful and backing everything up before I begin any update process..
There is nothing wrong with reminding people how important it is to carefully consider updates and making sure everything is backed up, and there is nothing wrong with suggesting that there can be major frustrations with buddypress.
I think that particular piece of information should be useful to the people who are coding the plugin and probably be taken to heart a little more, rather than telling people who have major issues (on occasion… lol) their comments aren’t helpful here.
Having said that, I installed 1.6 on a new site I am building and I haven’t had any major issues. It’s looking nice and it is working nicely. Nice job (don’t hold it against me if my point of view changes a little from time to time)…

Participant@q5sys
1. Install bbPress plugin (sitewide forums)
2. There is a phpbb3 converter Read https://bbpress.org/forums/topic-tag/phpbb3/
2. Have conversion done.
3. Double-check/test that conversion to bbPress is seamless
4. Install BuddyPress.
5. Read https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/Also know that Group Forums (custom bbPress 1.0) will be merged/switched over to bbPress plugin 2+ (sitewide forums) come BP 1.7 or so.

Participant@joshualedetnet Btw, did you run through the Update Wizard after you upgraded to BP 1.6? https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/version-1-6/upgrading-to-1-6/

Participant@oraclesoftruth You create the file bp-custom.php not bb-custom.php. Read how -> https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/

Participant@smackmathew Your issue sounds similar to those who are using the Salutation theme. If so, there’s a theme upgrade available from the theme vendor. If not, what theme are you using?

Participant@mercime. Where do I find the bb-custom.php file to edit and add this code?

Participant== Is there a way to change themes and/or disable buddypress through ftp? ==
Yes. Just rename the folder of your active theme as in e.g. wp-content/themes/yourthemename-changeit and for plugins, just rename the whole plugin folder wp-content/plugins-renamed/ and then go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/

ParticipantThanks Sarah, just tried that but still cannot gain access to anything. In fact, I get a new set of errors.

Participant@mebo looks like you’ve fixed the alignment of the BP template file with your theme’s HTML structure in the second link.

Participant== I want members to be able to create new blog sites on their accounts. ==
@oraclesoftruth And BuddyPress provides a form in the front end so that your users can create new blogs … if you have a multisite installation and you enabled blog creation.
== I configured it to activate on Blog “2? and not my Primary Network Blog, etc. ==
Just to be clear, did you add
`define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id );
`
where $blog_id is the Blog ID number of the secondary site. For example `define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 3);` in bp-custom.php per https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/August 10, 2012 at 12:19 am #1389989087877
Inactive@rogercoathup So is there a way to pass both arguments through parameter scope to display your own and friends activity?
Example: scope=friends & just-me
If not then is there any hack I can do anywhere to get this functionality into the activity stream output. Thanks!August 10, 2012 at 12:06 am #138997Roger Coathup
ParticipantHave a look at the scope parameter to bp_has_activities() – supports just-me and friends

MemberI have tested just about every “Premium” BP theme (including the one in your link) and I can tell you there is only one responsive (or otherwise) theme I would ever use…
PS
Have not tested Frisco, but it looks promising.August 9, 2012 at 9:57 pm #138985aberrantlitprof
MemberNow that I’ve been able to “successfully activate” BP on a sub site (thank you @djpaul) this is my next hurdle. There is no BP toolbar in the WP dashboard. I have a multisite installation running on WP 3.4.1 with BP 1.6. (Yes, I’m a newbie when it comes to most code, WP and BP.) If it matters at all, I’m on OS X 10.7.4 using Safari 6.0.
I hope any solution you provide can help both @nlmdep and myself.
