Just throwing this in here but is S2 member (or those others) updated for BuddyPress 1.6? http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/buddypress-1-6/ seems to indicate to me no.

I found the quick solution! I clicked Appearance > Theme Options in the WP dashboard, there was a little tip that talks about the new WP admin bar. So I added `define(‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, false);` to my wp-config.php file right above “/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */” and it worked perfect!

Personally I was disappointed in the absence of a quick option to just go back to the BuddyBar, the new WP admin bar just didn’t appeal to me. Happy BuddyPressing!

Hi Kris3d, first up you’ve probably seen it but can you confirm you’ve followed the steps in this thread? https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/transitioning-from-1-5-x-to-1-6/ Just want to know what stage you are at in diagnosing. Can you also confirm you’ve checked and are using BuddyPress 1.6 versions of any theme or plugins you are using?

That all being said have you tried resaving your settings under settings > BuddyPress and resaving your permlinks under settings > permlinks? Are you using any caching plugins? If so have you tried clearing them? I know some hosting has cache enabled that may be causing issues for you here, it may of course not be the issue though.

Assuming all that is there anything in your error logs on your server that may shed some light? Rather than pasting the entire thing you can use something like https://gist.github.com/ and link in that way please?

Just as as sanity check have you both looked at this thread: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/transitioning-from-1-5-x-to-1-6/. I know it may not be relevant but trying to throw something into the mix that may help.

Assuming you’ve upgraded all themes / plugins to 1.6 versions also then I think what is needed here would be information on your setup.

For instance: what did you upgrade from? What theme / plugins are you using? Anything else in your error logs? You can use something like https://gist.github.com/ to paste then link to your error logs.

Also what version of WordPress / BuddyPress did you upgrade from? I assume you’ve checked that both your theme and / or plugins using with BuddyPress are also upgraded to versions for BuddyPress 1.6?

Have you tried re-saving your settings for BuddyPress and permlinks under Settings >BuddyPress and Settings > Permlinks?

If all that is correct, could you please if possible provide a link or find out what path is being called for the images. Be helpful to see what the image is being listed as even if it’s a wrong file.

Just to check have you updated to the latest version if one is out for 1.6 compatibility? Are you able to switch to the default theme for BuddyPress to test if you still get the error – that way we can determine if your theme or not? I understand though on live site you may not be able to do this.

If it does turn out to be the theme there is this forum https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/ for that theme on this site. It would hopefully mean the authors can see any issues you are having and respond.

@jloc14 Install and activate @modemlooper ‘s BuddyPress Extended Settings plugin from here https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-extended-settings/
In the dashboard go to BuddyPress/Extended Settings put a check beside “Profile Field Links Disable auto linking of user profile fields” and at the bottom click “Save Changes.” This will remove the auto linking of those profile fields. Alternatively you can create a file named bp-custom.php and place it in the plugins directory and copy and paste in the below code:

Save the file and this will accomplish the same goal.

@k12onos – I have confirmed your problem. This bug occurs when you try to use the Activity page as the parent for the Members, Groups and Forums pages.

To temporarily fix this problem, create a new page with a new slug (eg. /community/) and then for your Members, Groups and Forums pages, select this new page as the parent.

Can you confirm that your old behavior worked in BP 1.5?

bmk0220 – Yeah, I found that the admin option to revert back to the BuddyBar doesn’t exist after upgrade. I will post a new ticket about this now.

Regarding bp-custom.php, I already mentioned this in the other thread, but I’ll mention it again for any other people reading. It’s supposed to exist in wp-content/plugins/.

Did you create the file and name it bp-custom.php and put it in the plugins directory? If you have not then do that and copy and paste the below code inside that file and make sure you save it. Here is the code:

I created the bp-custom.php with this code, put it in wp-content and also tried it in plugins, but neither on brought back the previous admin bar. In the plugins folder did put the code (as text) in the header of the page but that’s it. Am i missing something else?

Also, i thought during the upgrade (in the wizard) on the toolbar line it said you can change your mind later if you don’t want the new WP toolbar. You can change you mind, but you can’t easily revert back? I was under the impression that if you click the check box to try out the new WP admin bar you would be able to easily disable it later.

I’ll add that option.
