In reply to: How can we separate sidebar like this?
juanmaguerrero
ParticipantHi, @jafar1374 the design you’re showing is not from the Default BuddyPress Theme… I think you’re using a WordPress Theme or another one. Could you re-check that and give us more information in order for us to help you? Regards!

Participant== I would like to be able to track the members and the dates that they lost the love one ==
@enjoywellbeing You can create profile fields for a) date when their loved one was born and b) date died. Then make the fields required.
== I am looking for an easy theme to use for this purpose ==
I would suggest using the default bp-default theme while you’re building your site and adding plugins so you can know that if anything goes wonky, it could very well have been caused by the plugin, etc.
When you’re close to launching the site, you can use a WordPress theme and use BP Template Pack plugin to transfer BP template files and JS goodness. If you need assistance in fixing alignment, check out the list of WP themes we’ve “Template-Packed” so far.

Participant@tungdo Just saw your post. This is in relation to your theme submitted to WP Theme Review, right? Have you resolved this already? Will be out today but can look into this tonight so let me know.

@ChrisClayton
Participant“If they match BP 1.5.6 with WP 3.4, that means we’ll have to wait at least 3 months for it. And 6-9 months for 1.6”
Not necessarily. 3.4 is in beta which means it’s just clean up time and could be released at any moment (whenever their confident all the bugs are squashed). Both BuddyPress 1.6 and BBpress 2.1 is still in active development – think, first come (first in beta), first serve (first to come out)

Their’s afew changes and depreciated code in 3.4 so they can’t wait too long for a 3.4 compatibility release.
Plus, it’s not like they HAVE to wait months after a release for another one… i’d rather have deprecated notices squashed and then have a major release two days later than have to put up with annoying “you have old code on your site” notices everywhere for two days

Participant@kozmica check if your theme has been “template-packed” already. If not, then follow the steps on that page at the top. If you need assistance, post back here.

@mercime
Participant@jetgirlart I agree with @tedzz , their live chat techs know what they’re talking about. Client had been with them for a long time and wanted to add BuddyPress. Chatted with tech about client’s path to VPS from shared hosting if/when needed. I installed BP and went through installation Wizard plus using BP Template Pack, no issues on Linux.

Participant@mercime What I mean by default permalink, is the default permalink proposed by BuddyPress activation wizard. That was : http://domainname.com/archives/123
I followed your instructions and I changed the permalink settings to : http://domainname.com/sample-post/
The next step I’m not sure, but I open BuddyPress Pages Settings (Pages tab) and I click the “save” button beside each page and even click on the “save all” button.
I still get the same error…

Participant@fmeroney Disclaimer: the following plugin is compatible to WP 3.1.4 but it’s still working in my WP 3.3.2 and BP 1.5.5 install. Read the installation instruction https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-edit-user-profiles/

Participant@verteus BuddyPress requires “pretty permalinks” which means you need to choose permalink other than the default permalink. Then go to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages and save Page settings assigned to BP components.

@mercime
Participant@pipetko initial scan:
a) you’re using an outdated plugin (BuddyStream);
b) jQuery 1.6.4 version is enqueued per source while WP/BP uses jQuery 1.7.1;
c) if you need assistance with the BP Album plugin, start a New Topic at plugin’s forums https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/April 25, 2012 at 2:25 am #133526In reply to: “This group does not have a forum setup yet.”
@mercime
Participant@abbas667 Please clarify “wordpress ver 3.2.2” is a typo? It’s actually wordpress ver 3.3.2 ? Otherwise, that’s the major blocker.
April 25, 2012 at 12:46 am #133523@mercime
ParticipantMore of the outdated plugin issue and possibly a theme issue, not sure. The best thing is to set up BuddyPress and check everything out using bp-default theme without other plugins activated. When everything’s doing as expected, only then do you change to custom theme and add on plugins (only those which have been upgraded to current WP/BP versions). That way, you’ll know when anything goes wonky and can fix it asap. Only my 2 cents.
April 25, 2012 at 12:42 am #133522@mercime
Participant@markyeoj what I see are some custom modifications on your end that went awry. Change to bp-default theme and deactivate plugins, I believe issues will be corrected.
P.S. after I log in, I get redirected to this same topic and I have to go to dev.freelanceu.net/zim/fitnessdiary/ not good.April 25, 2012 at 12:37 am #133521 -
