In reply to: [Resolved] Problems Getting BuddyPress Running
Paul Wong-Gibbs
Keymastersite.com/search/ is a bit of an oddity. You’ll note testbp.org/search/ redirects, too, so it’s not a specific problem with your site.
/search/ is basically a search/redirect handler. Based on what parameters are passed in the GET request, it will construct an appropriate search URL for the component that you’re searching for. It’s not a google.com-style search page (although that might be nice to do in the future).
For example, searching testbp.org for “paul” with “members” selected in the dropdown box posts the form to /search/, which then redirects to http://testbp.org/members/?s=paul — which is the appropriate search slug for the members component.

KeymasterThe search being broken is pretty annoying, and we’re aware of this. Until we can get it fixed, you’ll need to do a google site: query, like @aces suggests.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterI know I do get emails from BuddyPress.org (@ mentions, for example). I’m not sure email notifications is something that is meant to be supported on BuddyPress.org. If they aren’t, we should hide that part of the Settings so we don’t confuse people.
I’ll raise this issue and find out what the expected behaviour is.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterIf you can, upgrade to BuddyPress 1.5.5 (just released this morning). There’s a fix for multisite avatar, and I’d love to know if it fixes your problem or not.

ParticipantIt was these guys that did it http://studio66design.com/2010/03/buddypress-group-documents/#comments
and I have no idea why it was pulled from circulation, I’d be interested for someone to shed some light on this.
(Maybe a security issue I know nothing about ?)
I have it on one of my websites, so if this is still what you need, get in touch.March 26, 2012 at 10:06 pm #131988In reply to: New user is listed fifteen times in Member Directory

MemberFYI – see message from my isp:
We’ve created a user (support74, you can delete it if you like) and were able to reproduce the issue. The user is repeated three times on http://atlantagardeningforum.com/members/.
We’ve looked into the database and found multiple entries for the users, but none that would explain why a link to this member is repeated three times.
I’m sorry but we cannot determine what is causing this needless repetition. We suggest you contact the vendor for BuddyPress about this matter and possible solutions.

MemberI think I found a solution! But I don’t quite know how to edit the code. According to this page:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-members-loop/you can use THIS parameter on the bp_has_members() function:
user_id optional
Limit the members returned to only friend connections of the logged in user.
Default value: false….that when people clicked All Members (if I understand this right), it would only show them users which they have FRIENDED and because they can only FRIEND users who they can see activity for, which are members who sign up and join groups on THEIR site, the resulting effect would be a filter for users on other sites, users they can’t see activity for, correct?
Now, how on earth do I use this paramater on this function and what would the resulting code look like? I’m sure that’s an easy one for you guys right?

MemberI see several threads on different sites such as this one: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/solved-limit-members-loop-by-profile-fields/
…where people of successfully filtered the member loop by role, but how to filter it by domain / site?
March 26, 2012 at 7:55 pm #131982In reply to: Segregate BP All Users List?
coreymj78
MemberI see that there is a plugin in development that filters the members loop here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/third-party-components-plugins/forum/topic/bp-member-filter/?topic_page=3&num=15
If this is the case, couldn’t I simply apply a similar filter to the list to filter it by domain?
Thoughts?

ParticipantThis is probably not a BuddyPress specific issue. You can solve it in WordPress.
You first create a blank page with a title and nothing. Let’s say the title is ‘This is my blog’
You go to ‘Settings’ and ‘Reading’ then select ‘a static page’ in the ‘Front page display’. You select the Front Page you want to appear first. Then for the posts page you select ‘This is my blog’.March 26, 2012 at 2:27 pm #131969In reply to: WordPress + BuddyPress?

Hugo Ashmore
ParticipantIt does not change any of your posts or pages, however it does require that a compatible BuddyPress theme is running and that means you will need to do a little work if you have a theme in use already and don’t want to use the bp-default theme bundled with BP.
To modify an existing theme to work with BP you need to run the template pack plugin, details of which and step by step guide you will find in the BP codex.

Member@mercime ermm I’m using twenty eleven latest and buddy press latest stable release as well. Initially i thought the problem was because JQuery and AJAX was not being called properly in the website and tried to do it manually by calling up the files in the header but with no success. Then as a resort I had to use a new theme from scratch, use compatibility tool to make it all work without modifications to my new website, created child theme to that it looks okay and then copied everything from my old website onto new. Please see. http:// pianocouture2.iclsoftech.com for the version that works. Thanks for all your help
