ParticipantB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you revised up to your server wp-content/themes/minimatica/
D. You might also want to check out the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten for reference especially with removing the bullets and bringing in the extended width of the BP elements. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/

Participant@pfelberg I know you wanted the second option. But based on the HTML structure of your theme, you’d need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Minimatica theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
`<article id="post-” >` March 14, 2012 at 1:55 am #131324@mercime
ParticipantInstall and activate Frisco theme, that’s it.
Do not use BP Template Pack on Frisco theme because it’s already compatible with BuddyPress.
If you already used the BP Template Pack plugin on Frisco theme, then
1. deactivate the plugin and
2. delete Frisco theme (to delete the BP template folders transferred), then
3. download and re-install Frisco theme again.March 14, 2012 at 12:20 am #131323In reply to: Captcha that works with buddypress register page?

Participant@Ekine I’m using the built-in WordPress gallery for posts, along with this plugin for the lightbox overlays: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-jquery-lightbox/
@mnasir79 Yeah, I just threw the code for the Facebook Platform’s page on it until I get my own up, heh.
I’m still cleaning up some sections of the theme. When all that’s done, I’ll start focusing on publishing some content and trying to build up a community. I’m still not entirely happy with how some of it looks (notably the activity and member profile pages), so if anyone has any suggestions or criticisms, I’d love to hear their thoughts.

ParticipantQuote:WP Theme Repo has https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/frisco-for-buddypress which is child theme of BP-default themeYes you got the right theme!
I really need help to replace my current Buddypress theme with the Frisco theme.
Upgraded my site from a non-buddypress wordpress site to a Buddypress site, and I now I want to replace the default BP theme with the Frisco theme.

ParticipantAwesome. Thanks @yadigit !
This is exactly what I’m looking for! While it would be nice to add an @tag to the Wire, I’m not savy enough to know how to do that. So this should suffice.
Now to figure out how to rename Wire to “Member Comments”. I’ve seen in the readme.txt :
`Changing label for wire, either use language file or use the following code in bp-custom.php
define(“BP_WIRE_LABEL,”Your wire label”);`That doesn’t seem to work for me. Might be due to my RocketTheme theme. Tried changing the language file but that was a no-go as well.

MemberAs you say, it is probably a permissions issue. Change the permissions (Chmod Settings) for the upload directory to 777. You change it in your FTP client. Just right click the file and there will be a change permissions or Chmod settings link.

Hey guys, this is beautiful feedback!QUICK QUESTION! I’m desperate. I am learning more and more about WordPress and how to fix issues, but I am stuck.
I just migrated my site over to a Dedicated server and the process was a bit tough. I have everything buttoned up now, the site is running well (fast) but the only problem I am having is that I am not able to UPLOAD images as the admin, nor as a user??
The image shows that it is uploaded when I add them to pages, but they are blank. I am guessing it has to do with permission? There is no “error” message when I am trying to upload an image as an admin, but there is as a user. It reads:
“Server error. Upload directory isn’t writable”
I am sure this is a simple fix, but I can really really really use some guidance here. As I mentioned, everything is working beautifully!
Thank you in advanced!!

When you go to the member’s profile page. (e.g http://www.site.com/members/USERNAME)
That is the person’s profile..
it has a tab of their profile activity, (blog, profile info, groups, ect..) it only shows what that user has posted or replyed in.. Nothing more, nothing less.If you decided to use a different theme instead of the bp-default theme you might run into some problems with the header.php.. ( some themes will already add in a link for activity, groups, ect ect..) but if you are using the bp-default then you shouldn’t run into these problems.
My suggestion, add a few users on your site. Post activitys, make groups and put some content on your site.. Learn how buddypress works and what you can and can’t do with it. Click things and see what they do.
Best of luck with BP.March 13, 2012 at 8:53 am #131295In reply to: Posting directly TO someone else’s Activity Stream?

Participantfind a plugin called bp-wire.
Inside of the installing.txt it will tell you what you need to do..
but that doesn’t solve your question.
now adding the @tag into the wp-wire is a different story.
I just think bp-wire should give you a head start

Participantbuddypress share..
it seems to have everything in it..
I went to facebook development page and got the code share..
I then put in the activity ID inside of the code and added the facebook iframe into the buddypress entry.php file..
so users can share it on facebook..

ParticipantI believe it has something to deal with this piece of code, (file bp-membesr/bp-members-signup.php)
`
function bp_core_validate_user_signup( $user_name, $user_email ) {
global $wpdb;$errors = new WP_Error();
$user_email = sanitize_email( $user_email );if ( empty( $user_name ) )
$errors->add( ‘user_name’, __( ‘Please enter a username’, ‘buddypress’ ) );$maybe = array();
preg_match( “/[a-z0-9]+/”, $user_name, $maybe );
`
On line 311 you will see
`preg_match( “/[a-z0-9]+/”, $user_name, $maybe );`
Just add
` preg_match( “/[a-z0-9A-Z]+/”, $user_name, $maybe );`
that should allow caps for user names.

Membershanebp. Thanks very much for that. Now I know that it CAN be done, I will have a go with aurimga up again. Their app had the most seemless connection.
modemlooper, aurigma up does upload to your own server, but I don’t know if it goes to theirs as well. I think a native BP app would be very useful! I would love to try it. I assume you haven’t submitted it to the store yet? The app would really need to be free on the store for users of the social network to use, but you could charge a license fee for the webmasters of the sites. The app doesn’t need to be branded to the individual sites, but only a simple no frills UI to get round the mobile safari problem. Aren’t you the dev behind the mobile plugin? Incorporate it all under a premium theme! I’d buy it. Spent too much time already trying to work this all out…

ParticipantAre you using the default WP theme or a custom theme?
I had the same issue (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/topic/feature-requset-global-rename-abilty-for-the-word-group/) and I was given a number of solutions. A few replies down, Paul Gibbs showed how to change/make a new language file. That should work.
My problem was that I was using a custom theme and the theme files had to be edited. Hopefully you’ll find what you need at the link I posted. Good luck!
