In reply to: Cannot see Buddypress plugin to activate
Bart van Poll
Member@mercime – I’ve deleted define ( ‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true ); from bp-custom.php, but now the plugin doesn’t show up in any of my subsites.
My BP install is on example.com/socialnetwork, and I have 40 other blogs like example.com/blog1, example.com/blog2 etc. I only want BP to “show up” on the BP blog.
Is that possible..? Thanks!

MemberI’ve been working on this for the past couple of weeks. I’ve found a couple of apps that you need to download first, and through them, you can send a photo directly from your iphone to your blog. “Aurigma up” is a nice, simple free app, but is not quite complete yet. It allows you to open the app directly from your wordpress blog, send the photo, and then return (somewhat seemlessly) to your blog. I have tried it on wordpress, but am now trying to tie it into BP. I want users to be able to add the photos to their album from their phone and then have that picture show up in the activity page as a thumbnail. I’m not too hot at PHP, but am trying to work out how to get this done.
If anyone has tried this, please share. I will post what I get done.

ParticipantWell with iPhoto, one could upload a photo to Facebook and as long as you’ve enabled the setting in Buddystream, the photo will be available under your profile. I am not sure but I believe the Buddystream folks are working on allowing the user to specify which albums to pull from FB. It’s somewhat indirect but would work… Also Brajesh at Buddydev may be working on this for his new version of BP Gallery.

ModeratorNot easily possible on iOS, might be possible on some Android devices. There is a way by using a native app on iOS but It’s too much work involved for a free plugin.

Member@Paul: Thanks for the answer. French hosts offering such amount of memory are either small companies with lack of confidence or big expensive plans. Then I’ve been looking for affordable US hosting solutions and I think of Media Temple or BlueHost.
Could someone give me the keys to make a great choice?
Thanks !

InactiveThis plugin may work, just check the compatibility of your versions of WordPress and BuddyPress. You can get it here:

@mercime
ParticipantRemove code afer `
` in your header.php, It’s going to wreck the layout. You’ve got to ask theme developer where you can add that code in the custom navigation menu of the premium theme.More importantly, your layout is wrecked in the content area. Some styles added to your stylesheet like:
`body.directory #content {
margin: 0 34% 0 7.6%;
width: 58.4% !important;
}
div#content .padder {
margin-right: 351px;
}
etc.`
have compounded the problem. Those styles were not there before nor is that one of the recommended additions at all.March 8, 2012 at 5:42 pm #131044In reply to: Can buddypress handle 30k+ users?

ParticipantI think I solved it for the most part. Take a look at my solutions and see if it might help you: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/activation-email-key-doesnt-work-i-may-have-the-fix/

ParticipantMy problem was I was running a plugin that was generating a key as well as buddypress and WordPress wanted the key generated by the first plugin, not the key from the activation email sent out by buddypress.
You can read about it here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/activation-email-key-doesnt-work-i-may-have-the-fix/
it’s lengthy, I know, but I hope it puts you in the right direction if it doesn’t work.

ParticipantI do have a script for that. But the javascript does effect the BP notifications… that’s the only problem. I’ll be more then happy to send you the script. @jasonbrodbeckcom, I don’t use it for that reason but let me see if I can find it again.

Inactive@anetz is correct Richard you can bypass installing BuddyPress all together if you just want the forum functionality. I actually like the bbpress forum plugin sitewide install. It just seems easier to keep track of but that also depends on what you use it for. Just don’t do multiple forums as Anetz specified.

Anetz
MemberHello Richard,
Setting up buddypress or bbpress is quite easy, however you need to avoid some few general mistakes that a newbie makes.If what you want to do is just get a forum for your site then you don’t need to setup buddypress forums. You may instead go for bbpress forum plugin. { note: avoid using multiple forums such as bp group forums and sitewide forums togather}

Not sure what you mean by

Inactive1.) Are you using forums for groups, or site wide forums?
2.) Did you make sure the discussion forums box is checked in dashboard/buddypress/components.
3.) If you used forums for groups you have to create a group first. This can be done in the front end under groups as long as your logged in. After you created a group, then click forums and create a topic.
4.) If your using a site wide forum you need to go to dashboard/forums/new forum and create the page and name it, then publish it. Then it will show up in the front end under your forums navigation. Just name your Topic, give it a description, and at the bottom of the screen click submit.
5.) You may also need to create a custom menu in dashboard/appearance/menus. Create a new menu, name it, save it. Where it says Theme Locations Primary Navigation click the drop-down menu select the name of the menu you just created and click save. Below you can now select your all your pages, click the check box’s then click add to menu, and in the left you can drag them to the order you want to appear on your navigation, then save the menu. I hope this helps! -
