ParticipantGot it. Thing is, I see
``
in source when the page template you posted in pastebin.com link above had
`` plus the next two divs I posted are not present in source code of what’s supposed to be your /member/index.php pageWhere did you upload header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php? These should be uploaded to wp-content/themes/reaction/ folder, not elsewhere or it won’t work.

MemberPart of what I would like to understand – is how clicking a button in the BuddyPress forum to create a group – somehow triggered an error on a PHP page in TheCartPress? How could those two totally different pages/templates/systems trigger that kind of error?

Dan Hagan
MemberI meant the notifications in the grey buddypress bar at the top of the site where you can check for activity or account info. It seems the only notifications are for requests (friends or group) and not all activity. For example if I join a group, can buddypress send a notification when there is activity in that group? Not emails, but internally in buddypress.in the notifications?

ParticipantThanks for the contribution.
Much like anything in life depending on what you are doing you consume accordingly.
I’m loving BP right now, and usually now whenever I study it tends to be all about BP.
Similarly, last year… work required CodeIgniter, so it was all about that.
Year before WP, so it was all about that.
Guess you like communities now so… it’s all about BuddyPress baby!
How much do you like Cigars? @FuriousCigars lol

MemberNot an answer to your question, but when I purchase themes now, if they dont have buddypress integrated into the theme, i dont waste my time looking at them anymore.

Memberhttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/ – I found this which looks perfect…. it even got a write up here http://wpmu.org/a-must-have-plugin-for-buddypress-to-stop-splogs-dead-in-their-tracks-and-create-instant-community/
but sadly it doesnt work with 1.5…

KeymasterObviously, the best thing is to set up a test site with BuddyPress and see if it does what you want. I’d suggest using private groups (one per client / project). For document sharing within that group, see https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/

MemberHi Paul,
Thanks. Do you know of anything that does… even its hacky? I’m very, very desperate. I’ve scoured the forums – tried every plugin under the sun… but nothing works…
Even if I can just intercept the email – and direct it to the admin, and replace the text on the thankyou page to say “An admin will approve you” or something like that…
Thanks,

KeymasterNo, Welcome Pack doesn’t offer that option.

KeymasterIt happens to the best of us. Happy there wasn’t anything actually broken.
Thanks for the kind words.

ParticipantI checked the media gallery, and when uploading something there, it didn’t give the php warnings, only a permissions warning.
I had chmod’ed the uploads folder previously but it seems I misread the WordPress page about the exact chmods (https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions) and implemented the first table 755 (should have been at least 775).
Gosh, such a basic error. Sorry for waisting your time

PS: Keep up the good work, BuddyPress is an amazing piece of software (and even the default look is so sleek!). Thumbs up.
January 31, 2012 at 7:48 pm #128941John James Jacoby
KeymasterDoes your media gallery allow you to upload things? Since BuddyPress uses the core WordPress APIs to handle the upload, it shouldn’t be the only thing broken (unless wp-admin is whitelisted or something.)

MemberQuick update. The ‘Forums’ link I clicked on was a custom menu. After deleting the custom menu, Forums does not show in the menu at all. When navigating to ‘Settings, Forums’ I still get the ‘Possible BuddyPress conflict: Forums page’ message. I hope this makes sense.

Participant@Marcella, I’ve posted code, but it’s not showing up so I guess there’s something I’m missing or it’s being held for moderation.

January 31, 2012 at 5:12 pm #128928In reply to: Activity Stream check for Post Feature Image
Nahum
ParticipantCurrently, thumbnail is only displaying in the activity item if the image was inserted in the post. If no image is embedded in the post and is instead set as a post’s featured image, the activity item doesn’t display a thumbnail.
It would be great to get activity to check first if there is a featured image set, if no featured image is set, default to first image inserted in a post.
