Hello my fellow BP’ers. This is NOT working for me. It returns nothing…as if the field did exist. Any ideas?

BuddyPress is version 1.5.1 at this time and I see BuddyPress is not activated in your site. You most probably mean bbPress 2.0. Having said that, I do not see bbPress activated in your site as well.

I’m dont get what I did wrong. I took the Jquery code from pastebin…put it between script tags…placed it in the header.php…and nothing happened. I can still post over 100 characters. What did I do wrong?

The BuddyBar will still be there, though it will be turned off by default in favor of the WP Admin Bar. (In BP 1.5, that’s reversed – you can enable the WP admin bar manually with
`define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true );`
in wp-config.php.)

BP’s WP Admin Bar implementation has:
– a logged-in user dropdown menu (links to logged-in user’s groups, activity, etc
– admin links for current group
– admin links for currently displayed user
– Notifications

There is ‘Visit Random’ button in the current implementation, though it’s worth an enhancement request on http://trac.buddypress.org

In any case, it will be completely customizable. The BuddyBar is mostly hardcoded HTML. The WP Admin Bar is built using an easy-to-use API, making it far easier to customize to your liking. If you don’t like the search, it’s easy to remove. If you don’t like the appearance, it’s easy to modify with CSS.

It’s mostly fine. The WP Admin Bar, which changes a lot between 3.2 and 3.3, does not work all that well.

Most of bp-default’s CSS is in bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/default.css.

I have the same problem when I update buddypress 1.5.1, I am getting error bp_site_name() function does not exists.

I am having the same issue paging through a category on a group home page. I’ll post any solutions if/when I find them.

I just try your plugin buddypress group fields and I get an error:

`Warning: extract() [function.extract]: First argument should be an array in /home/user/apps/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-fields/buddypress-group-fields.php on line 9`

Yes, it shows a Restaurant Description, Restaurant Price etc. I have the latest WordPress and BuddyPress.

I have same problem
I have bp in a multi site wp but my bp is in root
when I upgrade my bp, I lost my dashboard and all page of site
then i shold remove BP plugin!!!

It appears as though both my default group and name field were different when upgrading BP.

This should be accounted for, but clearly not. Do you have a BP_ROOT_BLOG set in wp-config.php, or BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG set?

I had the exact same problem and went to plugins > buddypress > bp-xprofile > bp-xprofile-filters.php and had a look. At the very top there is a very nice list of filters, all of them starting of “add_filter”. When you want to remove something WITHOUT touching the core, simply find the one you want, copy and paste it into your functions.php inside your theme, and then replace “add_filter” with “remove_filter”.

In this case just replace what you had before with the code below and it should work:

remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_profile_field_value’, ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’, 9, 2 );

Hi all
Some months back I made my WP blog theme (anIMass) BP compatible and have been waiting for the day to start using and testing the features. Well that day is today!
I want to start by enabling the forum feature for my blog except I cannot see yet (in admin page/WP dashboard) how to set it up!
I am most grateful for help & advice & meanwhile I will keep searching on Google for more info on this.

My WP blog seemed to want me to install bbplugin2.0 so I have done (it was a couple of months ago I made my theme BP compatible and I have forgotten exactly where I had got to & what I had to do next!).
Then I enabled site wide forum option.
Now I see all sorts of menus in the dashboard for BP and I tried to create a new forum-unfortunately this only displays a blank/empty browser!

We don’t claim compatibility with WP 3.3 with BuddyPress 1.5.*. I expect it ought to work, however. BuddyPress 1.6, which we’re still building, will be verified to work with WP 3.3

You should be able to do this in BuddyPress 1.5
