Is there an exact reason why you want to use WordPress signup rather than the BuddyPress one? BuddyPress sign up is a bit more apt for a BuddyPress site so trying to understand the use case here.

dubwarrior, If you do not want to show activate/register in main navigation, bp-default supports custom menus. Go to dashboard – Appearance > Menus. Create a menu with just the links you want in your main navigation, Save. Then associate that menu with the Primary location and Save.

Deactivate all plugins by renaming the plugins folder manually via FTP/cpanel to e.g. wp-content/plugins-xxx

To make your Twenty Eleven theme compatible with BuddyPress, you need to install the BP Template Pack plugin and go through the Appearance > BP Compatibility process

What do you have in your child theme folder? Could be possible that file/s you copied from bp-default into your child theme folder way back needs to be updated.

IF wordpress isn’t sending any emails (ie they’re not in spam or junk folders) it may need an extra plugin – see https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/frequently-asked-questions/

Hi, I’m confused about how to find my own topics on buddypress.org. As mentioned above, the “My Topics” link is broken, and when I look in my own profile I can’t find anything in the Activity tab no matter what filter I choose. I’m also not getting notifications on replies to my forum posts.

I am getting notifications when I’m mentioned in an update: but when I click the “To view and respond to the message” link in the notification email, I get a 404.

I have all the notifications set to Yes in my settings.

You need to activate BuddyPress first. Second, select Twenty Eleven theme. Third, install BP Template Pack and go through the BP Compatibility process.

Deactivate your few plugins except BP and see which conflicts with comment submit.

The question is, is there any way to use Google Apps with WordPress. BuddyPress doesn’t touch any user authentication parts. Good idea, let us know what you find out

I was experiencing this problem, having changed “Name” to “First Name” in a 1.5 beta release.

I didn’t test profile editing until after upgrading to 1.5, but when I did First Name was displaying the username, and would not change when edited.

Following @jaunmaguerrero, I changed the field back to “Name”, then changed again to “First Name”, and things started working again.

Ok, I just installed Buddy Press yesterday and had the same issue. First, it wouldn’t show up after normal install. So i went into the buddy press settings and setup the forum there. Still didn’t show up. I was trying to set it up so that it would not have forums in the groups but after adding forums to the groups now it shows up fine. I think by doing that it installed the BP Forum files into the right place.
