ParticipantThanks again –
Yes both BuddyPress and Buddy Press Template Pack plugins are activated.
Here is a screenshot of the Members Directory page –
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/LLpt3eGzxlUSY1kPNJq45LGj7ar25XRPe7l625Mbz28?feat=directlink
(in case you cant see it: it is very similar to your shot of misalignment after step 3 except the BP element component widths are ok)
ALL BP pages are affected in the same way.I also have an “Activate’ page that asks for an activation key, although it doesnt appear on the navigation menu, and which has the same misalignment of the sidebar items..

ParticipantLeave a comment on the site re update schedule. @sbrajesh has been updating his premium and free plugins for BP 1.5 but I don’t know his schedule. There is another method but also needs to be updated for 1.5 – using sitewide activity as wire/wall http://buddydev.com/buddypress/using-activity-as-wire-in-buddypress-1-2-themes/ where again, post a comment there to check schedule if you’re interested.

Memberoh it may seem that the buddy press is not compatible at all with That Music Theme. so now I need to figure out how to reskin the buddypress default theme seeing as it would appear I am now stuck with that or faced with restarting my entire website from scratch again.

@mercime
ParticipantYour WP theme files would still be in wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder
You need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go to Appearance > BP Compatibility Process.

MemberOK! It tries with another user(subscriber) and it worked very well. It just don’t work when I try with the admin user.
I think I did the remove part with another theme and now I’m back to the default theme it doesn’t work. Could it be a theme compatibility? Where does this number save? And I checked I couldn’t find any table for favorites, where are they?
Thanks a lot

ParticipantDefault layout of BP components is a two column layout. That’s why I’ve used the 2nd method to make 2011 compatible with BP. If you want a one column layout for all BP templates OR a mix of one column layout and two column layout, you’d have to use the 1st method for BP compatibility, i.e. changing 14 template files transferred to your BP 2011 child theme folder.
== misalignment of sidebar elements remains on the BP pages ==
BuddyPress and BP Template Pack plugin are activated, right? Do you have a screenshot of that misalignment? ALL the BP pages or a few? If so, which pages?.October 9, 2011 at 10:40 am #123048In reply to: Questions about the Global Forum in bp1.5

KeymasterbbPress (plugin) will see further integration in BuddyPress 1.6 & bbPress 2.1.
bbPress (plugin) should detect BuddyPress and support @ mention and activity stream integration. If those aren’t working for you, you’ll need to report a bug on the bbPress site.

ParticipantThanks mercime,
I did try that but the cropping tool snaps back each time I try to extend it. But I will try making my images bigger again and provide some white space around them to see if that helps.October 9, 2011 at 8:41 am #123039In reply to: BuddyPress Avatars
@mercime
Participant== it seems regardless of how small I make my images BP wants to crop them ==
You don’t have to crop the avatar. Extend the side and/or corner of the cropping tool to full width and height and you’re good to go.October 9, 2011 at 7:34 am #123007@mercime
ParticipantInstruction was to paste `` at the TOP of the file so sidebar-buddypress.php should be like this http://pastebin.com/aLkf4uaS

Thanks so much for the info on delete. I added it to my site and it is working great now!!!October 9, 2011 at 1:16 am #122788pawriter
ParticipantI have activated the BP Twenty Eleven child theme so I now see content in BP pages with a parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<' in C:xampphtdocswpresswp-contentthemesBP Twenty Elevensidebar-buddypress.php on line 9 – which is where I put the additional code suggested ()
It is inside the <?php immediately below the descriptive comment and above the line
$options = twentyeleven_get_theme_options ();Have I put it in the wrong place?
This parse error appears on all BP pages but not the original theme pages.
My dashboard is still telling me I have activated the BuddyPress Template Pack, but not completed the setup process.
Sorry for my ignorance

Participantditto. I made some progress with site wide forums by deselecting the forum check box in the BP settings. Though I haven’;t traced the code. I did however have an out of memory problem during bbPres installation, which may have f’ed up the install. Shame buddypress doesn’t tidy up completely on removal.

ParticipantI try not to edit the functions file unless absolutely necessary.
The plugins I am using are absolutely necessary for the site to function, so turning them off or deleting them is not an option. BuddyPress will get deleted before any of the others do!
Not sure what you mean by “I assume you are using a plugin”? Yes, I’m using BuddyPress?
I’m working on adding your snippet to the entry.php page. Still need the edit bit for fixing typos. So far it hasn’t worked … but I could be putting it in the wrong places. Also my activity stream just blew up – which has nothing to do with adding the snippet, and I’ll write it up as a separate report.Thanks r-a-y!!

KeymasterPlease post this as an enhancement ticket on Trac:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticketOctober 8, 2011 at 7:24 pm #122778In reply to: How to add a Title for Activity Post?
r-a-y
KeymasterOn the backend, you’d need to experiment with adding some activity meta.
In BP 1.5, all the activity meta functions are available in bp-activity/bp-activity-functions.php:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5/bp-activity/bp-activity-functions.php#L438On the frontend, you’ll need to add an input field to the post form and then grabbing the form data so you can save it as activity meta. Check out /bp-default/activity/post-form.php for the actual form.
Saving the title might be a little tricky with AJAX though.

KeymasterIf you’re on BP 1.5 and you’re using an older theme, read this:

KeymasterThis is an unhelpful thread. Avatars uploads do not and have never been intended to be supported on BuddyPress.org. Use a gravatar if it matters to you.

MemberI believe it was because I failed to click on the Finish & Activate button. I’d read the message “The BuddyPress setup is complete, and your site is ready to go!” so I just chose something other than the Finish & Activate button. yes, this is the point.

MemberI’m so not advanced with this, so please forgive me, but is there a tutorial on how best to update your Buddypress files? What I’ve done has been update only individual files as they’ve given me trouble, so I don’t have to completely rebuild my theme with the updates. I’m sure this is not the way to do it.
Thanks for the reply karmatosed!

Brendavo
Membercould not edit the prev post.
The code for the highlight is i think in bp-members-template.php on line 704function bp_get_loggedin_user_nav() { global $bp; // Loop through each navigation item foreach( (array) $bp->bp_nav as $nav_item ) { // If the current component matches the nav item id, then add a highlight CSS class. if ( !bp_is_directory() && $bp->active_components[$bp->current_component] == $nav_item ) $selected = ' class="current selected"'; else $selected = ''; /* If we are viewing another person (current_userid does not equal loggedin_user->id) then check to see if the two users are friends. if they are, add a highlight CSS class to the friends nav item if it exists. */ if ( !bp_is_my_profile() && $bp->displayed_user->id ) { $selected = ''; if ( bp_is_active( 'friends' ) ) { if ( $nav_item == $bp->friends->id ) { if ( friends_check_friendship( $bp->loggedin_user->id, $bp->displayed_user->id ) ) $selected = ' class="current selected"'; } } } // echo out the final list item echo apply_filters_ref_array( 'bp_get_loggedin_user_nav_' . $nav_item, array( '<li id="li-nav-' . $nav_item . '"><div class="menu-img-' . $nav_item . '"><a id="my-' . $nav_item . '" href="' . $nav_item . '">' . $nav_item . '</a></div></li>', &$nav_item ) ); } // Always add a log out list item to the end of the navigation $logout_link = '<li><div class="menu-img-logout"><a id="wp-logout" href="' . wp_logout_url( bp_get_root_domain() ) . '">' . __( 'Log Out', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></div></li>'; echo apply_filters( 'bp_logout_nav_link', $logout_link ); }The strange thing is… the only highlight i get on the sidebar is, if i view a friends profile. so the part on line 715 works, but not the rest!
