I am wondering if I am in over my head with buddypress? On my wordpress dashboard I do not have a site admin for buddypress? I don’t know how that has happened.
@tommyhoang – If you’re using that tutorial, remove any custom CSS you may have for the header and everything should work out fine.
Backup DB. Could still be lurking elsewhere like in BP tables. Export SQL, open up with text editor and search for jaws.my

@tommyhoang glad to hear you got it working. The header widget is supposed to be where you put it. 
Just move it in your header.php file to where you want it to show.
huh…i dont know..i think that i have done all the steps mention and required already..
and in my phpmyadmin or my wordpress dashboard setting, all the url also have been replaced by the new one.
plus, i also entirely remove the first version of the site from its original server which in the jaws.my server.
So my point here is that, if theres is no more file there in my old server, i mean how could the new site be related with my old site ,even if maybe somehow theres still the old link there in my new site?
obviously, i am asking this because this problem is still not solved TT_____TT

@sbruner, great news! i finally got it to work! thanks for the all resources and help man. really really appreciate it!!!! one last question, is the header widget suppose to be below the default buddypress banner? i was hoping for it to be on the banner.
my widgetized footer only displays the widgets vertically and not hortizontally. i believe ill have to do some style.css with this but im not very good with coding. So i decided to not use widgets and just edit the codes in my child’s footer.php to include links to pages. hahaha works great but hopefully i didnt do something wrong by using this alternative route.
@r-a-y, when you say (YOUR IMAGE URL HERE) do you mean just paste a link to the picture we want? How would i change these codes so that I can simply upload a new header image in dashboard and crop it to a certain size?

but it gets all messed up when i edit my child theme’s default.css

@modemlooper how’s it going? Getting to themes yet? Sorry for bothering, you have definitely a lot of work to do at this quick time. The left sidebar is the only thing that I haven’t figured out yet, everything else is now working as expected. Is there maybe any temporary solution? Some quick code that would to this?

Can you not just activate BuddyPress on that one blog? e.g. do not activate site wide. Then turn off the site tracking component in BuddyPress.
Yes I have. Still can’t figure it out. I can figure out how to display all activity, or activity of the logged in user, but now a specific member. Sorry, I am new to Buddypress. Anyway to be more specific?

@tommyhoang you can remove that line from the relevant file in your child theme, probably something like groups> forum> single.php although you’ll need to check that file name
$id = $bp->groups->current_group->id

Works! But I still used the old method of editing 13 files instead of using header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php. It seemed the files weren’t used by buddypress at all and the page source for any buddypress page was empty. Anyone else experience that?
This worked. The proper syntax for group id: $team_id = bp_get_group_id();
Did you find any answers on how to get the group id?
@linick, why is the default theme that comes with BP 1.5 (in beta) not sufficient? It’s probably the highest quality Buddypress theme out there. Have you found a gap in features/functionality in the old vs new or vice versa?
@mercime, thanks for the help. although when i post as a test user, i don’t automatically join the group. BUT the phrase “You will auto join this group when you reply to this topic.” still appears.
any tips on getting rid of that?
