@jonobradley you would have to download the BP template files transferred to your active WP theme.
Then, manually super-impose the HTML structure of your theme’s onto said BP template files
After which, upload revised files to your theme folder in server

i’m thinking about the purchase of BuddyVents but i’d like tohave some info about this:
i’m working on a new project based on WordPress Multisite and Studiopress Genesis Framework, i yet purchased Genesis Connect for run BuddyPress on Studiopress Theme .. what i need is to manage events and locations too, i mean i need to have a page for single location also with all informations (i taked a look at scubavagabonds.com and something like this http://scubavagabonds.com/dive-schools/aquatours-almeria/ wit a tab menu could be good) and have also a list of locations similar at that of events (like this http://test.shabushabu.eu/events/). More i need to have categories (better tags also), global search ecc ecc … so i know maybe i’m asking a lot but just i’d like to undestand if with this plugin i can do something near at my idea …

Deactivate BuddyPress. Then re-upload BuddyPress files manually – FTP or cpanel, etc – clear cache, then activat BP again.
Another note, if you installed WordPress via simplescripts or fantastico, then I suggest you start from scratch and install WP manually – upload via FTP/cpanel, create DB, etc.
mod_rewrite must be enabled for “pretty permalinks” which is required by BuddyPress. Go to dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks and set it to other than default settings. Check your htaccess file.

Thank you, it turned out to be the plugin bp-tinymce that made the problems. The activity/post/ issue was a haphazard.

I only have three sites on the current WP install, all with subdomains, all added by hand in cPanel. I don’t plan to add any more in the near future, and if I do then it’ll only be one or two and I can deal with it.
Wildcard subdomains are enabled on the DNS level — which seems to be a bit useless, come to think of it, though easier then going to my registrar and adding the DNS entries each time — but not with Apache/cPanel. Going to sdkfsdkfkdsfksdd.mysite.com just takes me to the Default Website Page thing.

All right. I’ll bug my host a bit to see if there’s anything else that can be done, then.
BuddyPress doesn’t let you set or view the avatars in the wp-admin areas, so that’s a bit of a red herring. So, when you go to upload an avatar, how far do you get? Can you crop the image and save it OK? And then there’s just nothing in that person’s profile picture (“mystery man”?)?
Have you tried looking inside your wp-content/uploads/ folder to see if the images are being saved?
Are there any error messages in your web server’s PHP log file?
Are you running on multisite, and if so, if BuddyPress running on blog ID #1, or?

Nothing like a blank page or nothing like going to Appearance > Themes and the bp-default theme doesn’t show up, or ….?
If you’re on single WP install, there should be a BuddyPress logo/menu on upper left hand area of menu. If you’re on multisite, go to network and find BP menu on upper left hand area.
@Bowromir – On the last activate this plugin I got some error. I tried to activate it on the WordPress 3.2-beta1 (multisite) and BP 1.2.8.
@naijaping you misunderstood hnla. You do not need multiple dynamic areas or widget areas to effect the look that you wanted for your sidebar. This can easily be done by changing styles in style.css file, something like this before you made the changes.

@hnla, @mercime, I just created multiple sidebar on my test site, i followed tutorial from the following link : http://www.quickonlinetips.com/archives/2007/11/how-to-create-multiple-dynamic-sidebars-for-wordpress-widgets/ and i have the extra sidebar widget, however, they still show as one with no space in between the content so please how can i achieve this.i want the sidebars to have space inbetween one another.

Worked perfectly – my site is almost how I want it ( couple more things to play with) but I thank you so much.
Your help is what makes BP so appealing to me. I have used many OS software over the years – and I dont mind admitting I am a cut and paste merchant when it comes to code – your help has been exceptional.

One thing – you put ul.activity-list li twice in the list above – or I have misunderstood?
@hnla apologies if my question was not clear. thats exactly what i want, i want each widget to appear in its own sidebar so that they will not join together. any pointer to right direction in achieving that will be highly appreciated.

@mercime thanks for your reply, have tried it and it was cool but not really what am looking for. as i want each sidebar widget item to have a space bottom and top so that each of them can stand alone. anymore suggestion will be highly appreciated.

By dating you mean something like match.com or eharmony.com? Have not seen a BP plugin that does that.
Simplest way could be to use Friend feature and Private Messages with additional layers of privacy so “Friends/Dates” cannot see how many “Dates/Friends” you already have .
