ParticipantOk so for the person that googles this later, it appears to be working network wide even though I activated it only in the root site. This should activate all of the options.

ParticipantSo it appears to work if not activated network wide, although I do want this active across the network…

KeymasterYes, but I don’t think it will work on the current version of BP. However, I think @Mercime is working on creating the same style for the current version

ParticipantTerrible advice in this thread from people recommending edits to core bp files — any changes to them will be lost next time you upgrade Buddypress. Never edit core. Use the custom query filter instead.

MemberWhen a click on header under appearance in the dashboard it shows me the blog title, but when I view a blog post, it shows the site name.
I’m now thinking that sites aren’t being created correctly and it’s related to the other problem that I posted in the thread below.May 17, 2011 at 2:40 am #112440In reply to: Page level privileges

ParticipantThe easiest way to set this up with s2member would be to go to the user’s profile in your WP backend and assign that member the “Role” of “s2member Level 4”. Then go to edit the page you want to restrict access to and, in the “s2member” section at top-right, select “Require Level #4” at “Page Level Restriction?”. I haven’t tried this myself, but it should work to restrict access to that page to only those members who have a Level 4 membership (whether paid or not, doesn’t matter).
For even more granular control, see the following 2 sections under “s2member” > “API/Scripting”:
“Using Advanced Conditionals” & “Custom Capabilities”.If you need more help with this plugin, the best place to go is their support forum: http://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=4
Have fun!

Participantok so ive started playing with the css file that has control over the admin bar for facelook, so far ive tried copying the admin bar code out of the default buddypress theme(where it looks fine) and replaced the admin bar code in facelook with it.
that equals blue text and a vertical menu off the to the far right, not in the right position or the right look. ideas anyone? thanks.

ParticipantI just tried creating an account on your site and believe I’ve found the cause of the discrepancy between subscribers and members: no activation email is received so folks simply cannot activate their accounts.
Check with your hosting provider to ensure that your email accounts are set up correctly for WordPress (Buddypress uses the same email routines as WP).

Participant@dinoraptor101 – I see you posted this same idea in another thread, too.
I use CloudFlare on buddypress sites and do not have the issues you describe. I am paying for the pro version for the sites and am able to change settings from Basic to Aggressive, etc. Maybe something else is happening on your site and there is a plugin conflict. For example, I removed WT3C because of issues with CloudFlare. Have you contacted CloudFlare?

MemberPerhaps my question should have been more basic. I am new with buddypress and wordpress, so please forgive my painful learning curve. I have 130 subscribers yet I only show 2 “members.” How do I set up buddypress to make each subscriber a member. My site is at eventfulsandiego.com. Thank you so much for your help. And by the way, I did see a send friend request to my other member.

Participant@dinoraptor101 so you use the plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cloudflare/ or did you test without it? If you did use it, maybe a bug report post on https://wordpress.org/tags/cloudflare?forum_id=10#postform about it would help get it solved

ParticipantBEWARE!! CloudFlare so far uses Page Caching, and for buddypress that means you will login and still load the page where you’re not!! and much more problems until the CDNre-caches which takes a lot of time.. hours – day the pages will be OUT OF DATE..
I recommend not using any Page Caching solution with Buddypress… since it’s a live-site.. not a blog.
The best bet is to find a CDN that does NOT cache pages as static.. yet it can save images, scripts, and static data..

it would be another story if cloudflare offers to turn the page caching of manually.. it DOES NOT –_–

MemberHad this same problem, and my solution was that I didn’t have the plugin files inside a folder called “buddypress”. Rather, they were all loose in the “plugins” folder. Once I made a “buddypress” folder in “plugins” and dropped the files in, all I had to do was reload the admin page and try again. Smooth sailing from that point on.

MemberFWIW, I had this problem, and the solution was that I did not put the BP plugin files into a “buddypress” directory, but rather had them lying loose in the “plugins” folder. Added a new folder under “plugins”, tossed the files in, reloaded the admin area and everything worked beautifully.

ParticipantWhat you’ve described (create and assign custom capabilities per subscription type/level) is one of the basic features of a very powerful plugin called s2member. It can seem overwhelming at first (it’s huge!), but once you start playing with it and experimenting, you’ll see just how flexible it can be.
http://www.primothemes.com/post/product/s2member-membership-plugin-with-paypal/Hope this helps!

MemberActually, I tried switching to the default BP theme to see if it was a theme-specific issue, but the issue didn’t go away, which leads me to believe it is a Buddypress issue.

ParticipantIn other words, mod_rewrite must be enabled in your server for “pretty permalinks” which is required by BuddyPress to work.
