In reply to: BP plugins multisite menu fix?
Chuscastilla
MemberGreat!! Thank you, hnla and of course Thankyou to @DJPaul, and I must say “Sorry for my words, Paul”.
I’m almost a noobie here and after reading a little I can say that your reputation is safe, no matter what you do with this plugin. My apologies and my respect.March 15, 2011 at 11:33 am #107863In reply to: BP plugins multisite menu fix?

ParticipantNot all plugins are going to be the same, however the fix for showing the settings or an admin page are pretty much straightforward- however as you appear to be talking about the ‘Welcome Pack’ plugin I would hold fire as @DJPaul has announced iirc on his plugin page for WelcomePack that he will be upgrading this weekend so you will have a working plugin again soon.

Memberkunalb: so with eventspress you create a new ROLE for the permission to create events? Can I assign the permission of creating events to my already existing roles? Thanks!

Participant@bowromir I’m not sure what admin_url() or network_admin_url() are but guess I probably ought to have used them when fixing my work, however where I needed a path to correct page i.e /wp-admin/network/admin.php?my… or older style I created a new variable with path based on a is_multisite() and is_network_admin() or if not then plain /wp-admin/admin.php which works ok
edit// So a simple network_admin_url() will return a path to current script/page with either network path for multisite or not and thus can be used for self referencing post submission- however I don’t appear to be able to pass any parameters via it? it doesn’t appear to take arguments?

ParticipantMaybe you should try this solution: works for wp3.1 multisite, also there are hints when working with single-site. I have it working on my multisite (but with the old code example).
The first link shows you how to make a selection for roles at signup: http://cleverness.org/2011/01/27/updated-buddypress-user-roles-code/
The second link is for the setup of which profilegroups (fieldgroups) are shown on certain roles: http://cleverness.org/2010/10/13/user-types-in-buddypress-assign-xprofile-groups/Give it a try, it works for me.

March 15, 2011 at 8:28 am #107846In reply to: Searching the Codex is broken
Hugo Ashmore
Participant@ronsuarez My original comment had absolutely no overtones to it, it was exactly as written I asked a question and attempted to clarify that the notion of roles and capabilities was a WP one and thus not going to produce results if searched for in the BP Codex. My second post was a retort to virtuali who posted a link to the codex and I was having a friendly dig at her ( I’m sure or hope no offense was taken by her as none was meant) thus it was not a remark directed to yourself.

Participantok, I understood, under ‘profile id’ Andy Peatling means last numbers from facebook url, does it mean that the only way to have personal like box for every user is to include some connection with xprofile field?

Participantthanks for replies,
what about displaying facebook like box in profile for every member, this shouldn’t affect load performance a lot, shouldn’t it?
if I will take this plugin

will this code do the trick (?):

thanks.
March 15, 2011 at 7:15 am #107840In reply to: bp_get_the_profile_field_input_name() field name?
phyz
MemberHi,
Thank you for the response and the link. It didn’t exactly provide me with what I was looking but definitely has a great amount of information that would be useful.
What I am doing with this is passing the values of the inputs with cURL. I already have the name and email done because the Buddypress registration provides the “names” of those. i.e. ‘sign_email’
What I would like to know is my profile name is named “Country” when I created it through the dashboard, if that will be the “name” for the input field. I hope this a little more clear.
Again, thank you for the reply and link.

Participant[RESOLVED] Root cause was meta_value in table wp_bb_meta remain unchanged after migration to other site.
Scenario: I had similar problem on forum. I tried removing and re-installing many times. Re-installing means copying my complete wordpress with plugin buddypress folder still didn’t worked. Sometimes i used to get HTTP Error 403 Forbidden while accessing forums. This was error was esp when i used existing installation option from admin page in forums setup under buddypress.
But when I click on setup new bbpress installation I could post on forums but could not see topics.
REASON: I checked the database for table wp_bb_forums and it had entry of new topic, then I checked wp_bb_meta in that incorrect meta value was setup for field meta_value where meta_key is uri , I corrected the url stored in meta_value it was url of my previous website name. I had done migration to new site so the problem. If you face similar conditions just check these values.March 15, 2011 at 3:20 am #107833In reply to: bp_get_the_profile_field_input_name() field name?
Virtuali
Participantbp_get_the_profile_field_input_name() just gets you what they have imputed in the name. As easily read by the statement.
Why are you trying to input in the file? Just go to your admin section of buddypress, and add “Country” as a new text box for the form.
Unless your trying to put it in core fields?
P.S, for future, check this out: Rich has a Great Directory for other Action Hooks, just like above: http://etivite.com/groups/buddypress/hooks/search/component/?c=bp-core

ParticipantLook at the compatibility of the plugin

Looks like Sarah Hasn’t updated that in awhile, as I am surprised it’s been working for you up to your bp/wp versions.
I would contact Sarah on twitter, seems she would get back to you faster.

ParticipantCategory pages as in- your theme?
If so, I would say this isn’t a buddypress issue.
Use the wordpress forums, or Twenty-Ten Theme Forums if possible.

March 15, 2011 at 12:08 am #107820In reply to: How to display the Group’s recent activity
r-a-y
KeymasterUse the activity loop:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/Set parameters to:
object – groups
primary_id – $group_id (you need to grab the group id and put it in)
action – activity_update
max – 1 (or how many updates you want to return)March 14, 2011 at 11:59 pm #107812In reply to: No filters to BP Blog Class?
r-a-y
KeymasterYou can filter the blogs using “bp_blogs_get_blogs” located in bp-blogs.php.
You’d then have to write your own blog fetch routine (yeah I know a pain!).If you’re not happy with this, post an enhancement ticket on BP Trac:
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticketLogin with the same credentials you use here on bp.org.
