Participant@hnla no worries, I’m just happy someone replies to my “newb” questions.
As it turns out it was my bp-custom file that messed up the forums. I will take a look on what i have put in there and if there’s anything of value to share.
regards

Participant@elia.lombardi
To customize the header headline, add the following to your child-theme’s style.css file and adjust to taste:
`#header h1 a {
font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size:48px;
font-weight:bold;
font-style:italic;
color:#555555;
}`For help with css, a good place to start is here:
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.aspTo help identify what you what to customize, install the Firebug addon in Firefox:

ParticipantConcerning the switch_to_blog conflict: I learned by placing this ` ` after the switch_to_blog/restore_current_blog, that the url links are corrected when Totalcache is activated. So temporary fix on that front. I use switch_to_blog alot so doing this isn’t ideal, so i’m hoping it is fixed totally in the next release.
I also learned that Object Cache screws up subdirectory urls for example mysite.com/subsite doesn’t work and only mysite.com/subsite/ works with the Obect Cache activated.
just 2 tidbits there.

ParticipantI also switched off a twitter plugin BuddyPress Tweet Button that put buttons next to most activity items, contacting twitter always seemed to slow things down

ParticipantI see Gravatar is a big issue on this topic. Sometimes when site loading slow, I can see (at the address bar) it’s “connecting to gravatar.com..”

MemberThank you so much for your help. It worked like a charm. I was fortunate that the template-pack did not need tweaking, otherwise I would have been lost. Thanks again for your help.

ParticipantPlease don’t bump more than every 24 hours 😆

If your permalinks are redirecting to homepage, this is because it has nowhere else to go than the homepage, because it does not exist/not in the right location.
-Do you have template pack installed?
-Are you using custom theme, and do you have a child theme?March 12, 2011 at 1:38 am #107592In reply to: [Resolved] Buddypress not working,

Participant=== I am using Platform 1.1.3 by PageLines ===

ParticipantYou guys have changed/ and or added a function that most likely has any extra space in the file.
I have most commonly seen Headers already Sent out by an extra space in the file. I would recommend copy and pasting the original file from buddypress into the one that you have changed to ensure there are no spaces.

ParticipantThank you for providing us with the support questions!
it really helps us solve your issue.Since you say that the links redirect to the homepage, it means the files are not there/not in the right place.
Do you have a child theme, or buddypress template pack installed? Or do you have default theme?
March 12, 2011 at 1:13 am #107587@mercime
ParticipantUpgrade to latest version from @svenl77 and co. – http://themekraft.com/theme/custom-community/ v 1.7.0.2 and see if that fixes it.
EDIT – Also, download BuddyPress, unzip and re-upload manually to plugins folder i.e. via FTP or cpanel

KeymasterBuddyPress doesn’t look for previous blog post data, only when you activate BuddyPress and on.
Boone Gorges has a plugin that does import older blog post data:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-import-blog-activity/Check it out.

MemberThanks a lot for your help mercime. However that didn’t work

I tried to use the theme to “BuddyPress Default 1.2.7 by BuddyPress.org” and it still will not find any posts/comments or anything for any of the users.
