In reply to: bbpress posting errors? missing database tables!
dba2k10
Member@hnla –
Thanks! I was sure I was missing at least one or many database tables, and I suppose my error report from the manual install is making it clear that I’m missing bb_posts.
Manual installation of bbpress consists of downloading it in a zip (available on the bbpress site) installing it on the server much like wordpress was installed – and then integrating it with wordpress (which allows it later to be used with buddypress):
The guide I use for manual installation and wordpress integration:
http://www.wpmods.com/integrate-wordpress-bbpress
I always successfully install bbpress but not without the above posted errors. Although manual installation was suggested as a fix to the common posting errors problem it makes no difference for me as the database table “bb_posts” fails to be created whether I do a single-click install or manual.
As for your statement
`It’s not wasting peoples time to suggest all possible solutions to a problem that is difficult to pin down to an exact cause`– I created this thread specifically for people who have pinned down part of the problem – namely that we are missing database table(s) after installation. So maybe we can tackle whatever is causing that issue in particular.

KeymasterHi,
BuddyPress depends on WordPress. Have you installed WordPress on your hosting account?
If not, I would kindly say this is a WordPress issue. Try reading this article to install WordPress:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPressIf that article is greek to you, Hostgator should have some form of customer support; it should be quite easy for them to setup WordPress for you.
If you need additional help, please head over to the WordPress support forum:
https://wordpress.org/supportOnce you have WordPress setup, all you need to do is to login to your WordPress admin dashboard and navigate to “Plugins > Add New”. Then, search for “buddypress” and install.

KeymasterYes, you can install multiple WPs on a single database.
You just need to install each version of WordPress with a different DB prefix:

KeymasterThis is scheduled to be fixed in BP 1.3.
In the meantime, open up /buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-adminbar.php and apply the code change listed on the following page as a temporary workaround:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/3052March 9, 2011 at 4:02 am #107265r-a-y
Keymasterbhain3s – Your error sounds like BuddyPress was partially uploaded and activated. If possible, try a manual upload to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory and reactivate BP:

r-a-y
KeymasterIf you’re familiar with WordPress filters, there’s a filter you can hook into to override the member excerpt – “bp_get_member_latest_update” (located in /plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php).
If you’re new to WordPress plugin development, check out this codex article:

Also your website creates and error message when I click on a group, e.g. http://www.spinabifidabulldogs.com/groups/general/forumMarch 9, 2011 at 2:58 am #107258r-a-y

Thanks for your interest in Buddyvents!
We use PayPal as our payment gateway and the Euros will automatically be converted to US Dollars when you pay.
Something similar to the ZIP code search is already possible. Users can enter an address and specify a radius. Not sure how well this works with just the ZIP code, but you could try that before comissioning an add-on

@mercime
ParticipantSure. BuddyPress activated on 2 separate WP installations with 2 separate databases is cool. You can only be limited by your server/hosting plan – bandwith, memory, etc.
March 9, 2011 at 1:32 am #107244@mercime
ParticipantGood call. Looking forward to your successful report here

Might I add that if you’re planning to allow your users to create blogs, go multisite (create a network) first before installing BuddyPress.

I’m having the exact same problem. Does buddypress have a dependency on some non-standard php libraries? Can you provide any more info?
Thanks in advance.
