Member@modemlooper I didn’t mention any developers & this thread certainly wasn’t intended to bash any, I’d still debate whether I bashed any in the previous thread too…
I’m just asking about privacy options, @mercime gave the perfect answer.
Has anyone tried these options, if so, what do you think?February 5, 2011 at 1:37 am #104660In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy

ParticipantOh, no. Sorry, Were confusing each-other.

Your fine, just a few tips for this forum. If a mod closes a topic, don’t just re-create another one that duplicates the one that was closed. The mods close it for a reason, to end further discussion about it.

Moderator@djpaul closed the topic because you keep bashing Jeff. Seriously dude stop. Trust everyone in this site wants privacy controls but constant nagging will not make it happen faster. Try some of the links above. Paul said he was booked for a month at least and would consider helping get something started. In the mean time I’m going to try and get a couple developers involved so the task is easier.
My suggestion is to start coding and then sharing what you got. If people do one section of the plugin it will get done.

MemberSorry, @gunju2221 thought this was a forum for discussion?
I am simply asking other users what options they are using, would think this would be the best place for a buddypress privacy discussion?February 5, 2011 at 1:29 am #104656In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy
@mercime
Participant@joshua_d Some other options include
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-privacy/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-profiles-manager/
and/or making the site private for members only via script or a plugins like
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hs-membership/I know that there are other devs who are interested in developing the plugin. Just don’t know when it will happen and whether or not it’ll be free or premium.

ParticipantAs you said in your first post.
Now that it looks like the long awaited bp-privacy will never be released
we are doing our best to see what is best for BP. As for the time being, just search for some related content on google. You would be amazed on what you can find when you do a simple search.
Additionally, when a Mod closes a topic, it’s best if you don’t just create another one

Participant@sparkinweb It would be great if you shared how you resolved your problem so others can learn from it.

ParticipantDo NOT re-create posts please, this is a duplicate post, from the previous one.
Do not put the guilt on us, as we are doing our best to see what is best for BP. You can certainly add an enhancement ticket over at Buddypress Trac

Thanks, that’s a huge help, I’ve managed to track them all down now.
It’s just a shame there’s no easy way to save a local copy of the CSS edits you’ve made on the fly.If it helps anybody else, the sections I was after came under span.highlight and span.activity respectively. Both in default.CSS of course.
Thanks again.

ParticipantIt’s for a buddypress site. I’ve tried a few but am looking for a recommendation as it becomes times consuming trying these out.
thanks!February 4, 2011 at 10:28 pm #104639Virtuali
ParticipantActually Bigjimmysisco, what theme are you using?
Weird coincidence, maybe we have the same weird missing JS, My custom images don’t load on crop page either.
I changed my avatar on my site for the first time and noticed this.
I will do some troubleshooting on it, because It is certainly the theme.
@boonebgorges I will create a dummy account on my site as “guest” and you can do troubleshooting on there, if you would like. maybe it will work on BJS’s theme also.

KeymasterBP Template Pack needs to be updated.
You need to update a few of the template files so they use the new BP_Button class:
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-default-theme-changelog/Match your template loop files with this:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset?new=3296%40branches%2F1.2%2Fbp-themes%2Fbp-default&old=3124%40branches%2F1.2%2Fbp-themes%2Fbp-default#file10And see if it fixes your problem.
February 4, 2011 at 8:56 pm #104632In reply to: Profile Fields show on email to admin?
r-a-y
KeymasterYou need to override the new user admin email function:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_new_user_notificationThen you need to call on some BuddyPress functions to grab the xprofile data.
xprofile_get_field_data() (located in bp-xprofile.php) will help.

If all this is foreign to you, short answer is “it’s possible, but requires coding”
February 4, 2011 at 8:46 pm #104631In reply to: Change the language!

KeymasterYou might want to download the localized version of BP.
According to the codex, the Italian version is located here:

KeymasterYes, WPMUDev requires a monthly subscription and like pcwriter said they don’t really focus on BuddyPress.
WPMUDev is pricey; I would go with BuddyDev if you really need some form of support. However keep in mind that BuddyDev is only maintained by one person, so you might want to consider that as well.

KeymasterTo install BuddyPress on a secondary blog, you can also read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/If you’re looking for a matching BP theme for your WordPress theme, currently BP Template Pack is the only plugin in town and it needs updating.
A premium theme with BP support built-in is the other alternative like you stated.

February 4, 2011 at 8:19 pm #104623In reply to: Translating my-groups slug
r-a-y
KeymasterYou can, but it requires a few, little ninja hacks!
“my-groups” is hardcoded in /bp-groups.php in v1.2, however you can remove the current navigation for my-groups, then add it back with your custom slug.
Read this thread for pointers:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/hide-general-settings/It uses the settings page as an example, but you should be able to get the gist of it.

KeymasterThis is fixed in BuddyPress v1.3, which is about a month away from release.
In the meantime, you can make the following change to fix it:

MemberI have the same problem.
