@mercime
Participant@latenitebooks plugin delayed because of another plugin.
There are non-plugin solutions which would involve manually adding javascript on relevant pages and code within respective forms. Also, If I’m not mistaken, the plugin I mentioned would be good for child themes of bp-default theme but would require some addition of template tags for non-bp-default themes.September 19, 2010 at 8:23 pm #92883In reply to: Remove Automatic Links in Profile

MemberOK, I just upgraded to the newest buddypress and my layout is completely screwed up. I am using the thesis 1.5.1. theme. Before, my regular pages looked like the thesis theme and my buddypress pages used the default.
With the new buddypress the default theme seems to take over my non-buddypress pages and make a total mess. Does anyone know the fix for this?September 19, 2010 at 7:02 pm #92877In reply to: Member Count Incorrect

MemberI’m embarrassed to say this, but when I put my site together, WP, Buddypress, bbpress and s2member there was something incompatible about the newer version of buddypress and I had to return to the older version. Now I am not remembering what the problem was – only made note to myself never to go back to the newer version.

Participantsome more info:
I tried installing bbpress separately and linking that to buddypress. This time, the topics I post show up, but If I post them through buddypress, it says that there are zero posts in the topic (it doesn’t matter if I view them through buddypress or bbpress, it still says the same thing). what’s wrong?

ParticipantAdding a link – Have a look at this thread: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-moverelocate-the-links-in-the-admin-bars-my-account-individuallyseparately-to-the-sidebar/
Your other issues are CSS rather than BuddyPress related. Check the admin bar CSS settings in the different themes you are using for your blogs. If you want them to look the same, they will have to have the same settings.

Participant@rogercoathup Sorry for the wrong use of the word, you’re right “fix” is not really the right word.
@nuprn1 In what file can I see the filter applied to the blog’s comments ? This way I could see if I could adapt it to the post. Could you give me a clue where to do the modifications ?

MemberHi. I have found a solution to that no activation email has sent. Check this out http://www.thinkplexx.com/neokrates/fix-wordpress-and-buddypress-sendmail-problems-sign-up-complete-activate-your-account-via-the-email-but-email-doesnt-come
I actually used Google mail account. There in Google account settings also probably has to set that you use imap. I’m not sure of that. But now the activation email is sent and users can register.

Participant@dwenaus I am interested in becoming a sponsor ($50), but I guess I need some more information about the plugin. I have been trying to use the BP wiki component, but the development seems to have stagnated. So, a bit more info on the plugin and Im probably in.

ParticipantThis is exactly the same post you made 1 month ago: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/users-blogs-show-up-broken/
Your first link is just a Google Blogger blog, and locks a visitor’s browser to some extent… I don’t advise clicking on it.
Your second link is a blank page.
I don’t see any sign of BuddyPress on your sites.
Are you trying to install WordPress multisite and give people a blog? – this should be your starting point: https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

ParticipantHi @DJPaul
I removed the following line from entry.php
<a href="” class=”fav” title=””>
<a href="” class=”unfav” title=””>
This has removed the button from the activity stream but the tab on user profiles is still there? Cheers

KeymasterAs @crashutah said, in your child theme, override activity/entry.php and remove the appropriate line.

ParticipantYeah, I’m still getting the error message
‘Warning: Missing argument 5 for bp_core_fetch_avatar_filter() in /home/integral/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php on line 479’and I’ve removed step 3 from https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/
Have you ever run into this or have any idea how to fix?
Thanks again for checking it out

r-a-y
KeymasterLike Rich said, @mentions- are basically a filter and a nav item.
It should be possible to remove the filter and the nav item by doing the following:1) Removing the filter
Add the following to your theme’s functions.php:
`
// removes @mention links in updates, forum posts, etc.
remove_filter( ‘bp_activity_new_update_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
remove_filter( ‘groups_activity_new_update_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
remove_filter( ‘pre_comment_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
remove_filter( ‘group_forum_topic_text_before_save’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
remove_filter( ‘group_forum_post_text_before_save’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );
remove_filter( ‘bp_activity_comment_content’, ‘bp_activity_at_name_filter’ );// remove @mention email notifications
remove_action( ‘bp_activity_posted_update’, ‘bp_activity_at_message_notification’, 10, 3 );
remove_action( ‘bp_groups_posted_update’, ‘groups_at_message_notification’, 10, 4 );
`2) Removing the subnav:
Add the following to your theme’s functions.php:
`function ray_remove_mention_nav() {
global $bp;bp_core_remove_subnav_item( $bp->activity->slug, ‘mentions’ );
}
add_action( ‘init’, ‘ray_remove_mention_nav’ );`Then, copy over /bp-default/activity/index.php to your child theme and remove the hardcoded li#activity-mentions from /activity/index.php.
Et voila! @mentions- are gone!
Might turn this into a plugin if requested.

*Edit: Also need to remove the table row on the “Settings > Notifications” page. This can be done by removing and duplicating the existing bp_activity_screen_notification_settings() function (located in /buddypress/bp-activity.php) hooked to the “bp_notification_settings” action.

MemberI can edit the theme files, I did not revise the index file. The BP Template Pack plugin imported what it needs for buddypress to work and in doing so edited my original theme files. My index file is there but does not reflect what is visible, just BP code. I can’t edit, for example, the main blackberryrocks.com page since I can’t find the appropriate code in the index file.
September 19, 2010 at 3:00 am #92835r-a-y
KeymasterRoger is correct.
“hxxp” is a placeholder to prevent hyperlinking to an example domain.If you’re working with a new install, you will not need the avatar code listed in the tutorial.
Try removing the avatar code and see if the error appears again.September 19, 2010 at 2:45 am #92834In reply to: Make Private Groups Visible
