So far, so good. Playing nicely with my other plug-ins. Perhaps this is a yet-to-be-made enhancement, or an existing functionality that I am over-looking, but it would be nice for the site admin to be able to define default settings, or at least have all settings default to “friends only.” Did I just miss this, or is that not possible yet? Again, thanks for a great plug-in and much needed functionality that should definitely be basic to any good social networking framework.

Ask the original creator if he wants to do it.

Personally I don’t see why this is better than all those other wordpress themes.

the upper part of the gray is applyed by itself, buddypress will do it for all themes.

Is there not a way for users to mark spammers and draw them to the admins attention as such?

The user hakam00 in this website is a desperate spammer … how many desperate lonely geeks does “Tina” think “she” will scam on this site?

Presumably “Tina” comes from Romania or Nigeria?

    See below:

    Subject: Hello.

    “Hello.

My Name is Tina I was impressed when i saw your profile buddypress.org and i will like you to email me back to my inbox so that i can send you my picture for you to know who i am.i believe we can establish a long lasting relationship with you.

In addition,i will like you to reply me through my

private e mail box for more introduction

Thanks, waiting to hear from you soonest.

    Tina.

Downloading it now. I have quite a few plug-ins installed, so this should be a fairly good test of how well the kids play together. I’ll let you know of any problems I encounter. Thanks for your time developing this much needed functionality of any social networking site framework.

Are you sure buddypress is activated as a plugin?

And are you using any plugins beside buddypress?

    Haha!

This could make it into the core, but until then I’ll release it as a plugin to see if there’s demand for it and fix any bugs. Funny, after making this plugin I started to wonder if it’s really a good idea to let people do this at all.

Honestly I’d like to make this slug editing a little more classy so that other areas of BP could use it, but until then it’s just an extension of the group API.

The problem is that they need to be the same (ideally, utf8) – this gives the ??? problem.

I’ve just done a test install and it’s installed the databases with these types.

If you look on the bb-config.php in the root directory of your site, I bet the “charset” is set to “UTF” — but the database tables are still installed as latin1.

The forums component is probably the weakest area of my BuddyPress knowledge. I’ve had a look at the code and I can’t see anything obviously wrong. I’ll let you know once I have news.

The tweak that you’re describing, though, derives from the supporter plugin. And the guys at WPMU Premium are more than familiar with BuddyPress.

It’s not so much help with that plugin that I need, but more a way to tweak buddypress, no?

http://testbp.org/forums is the better place to look instead of http://testbp.org/bbpress/

Just enable forums component in BuddyPress. Bugle Notes is using the default theme for BP (with some CSS tweaks). If you download BuddyPress 1.1.3 and use the default theme provided with the download, your forum will look the same.

Testbp.org is using a new theme created for BP 1.2 (not yet released yet).

    @Gezan

It doesn’t seem too bad as far as wikis go (reasonable amount of features, not too cluttered with whatever theme we’re running) but the integration with Blackboard is quite lacking, mostly in the group management department, which is exactly where i’m hoping we can improve things by using BuddyPress.

    Awesome wp themes? Try googling.

Also, converting a normal wp theme to a bp theme isn’t that easy, it adds a few folders and a lot of extra template files. And yes, if you know how to make bp/wp themes, you can design above average and do some coding; you could make a site like tdi volkswagen.

Today Andy will release the newest buddypress parent theme, you might wanna check that out too.

    Nice plugin…!

Is there any chance to do the same way on members profile in the future?

It would be great to give members the ability to attach external blog RSS feeds to their profiles.

Anyone have any luck using sign-up question or wpmudev’s sign-up code? They both work great on a regular MU install since the person signing up has to answer a logical question or enter a code that they have received previously. The problem is when you activate those plugins, they work on the WordPress registration page and not the BuddyPress Registration page. Those would likely solve all the problems if we could get them to work together.

I’m developing a site that we want only approved, or in some cases paid members to be able to sign up, but I can’t get either of those plugins to work with BuddyPress. Anyone been able to do that, or know how it would be done?

Okay So, I’ve created a new child theme and moved all of my files from my original theme into this new BP-Child Theme. I merged the css as best I could and when I hit the preview button I’m getting there errors:

Warning: main(/clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-sn-parent/tools/breadcrumbs.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-cdmmy-child/functions.php on line 30

Warning: main(/clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-sn-parent/tools/theme-options.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in s/clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-cdmmy-child/functions.php on line 33

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-sn-parent/tools/theme-options.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php-4.4.8-1/share/pear’) in /clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-cdmmy-child/functions.php on line 33

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bp_dtheme_show_home_blog() (previously declared in clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-cdmmy-child/functions.php:130) in /clothdiaperingmommy.com/wp-content/themes/bp-sn-parent/functions.php on line 52

How do i fix these errors so I can get my new child theme to work with. If I understand correctly, it should have all Buddypress functionality from bp-sn-parent and all the function of my original theme that I’ve copied into this child theme.

    Thanks

Okay, So If I understand eveyrone’s posts properly, The “best practice” would be to move all of my original themes styles, php files, and functions into a buddypress child theme. Thus ensuring the future-proofness of my buddypress functions.

I’ll do that… as best I can and Let you all know how it works.
