You state above that you do not need the old bbPress data. If that is the case, then I recommend that you do a clean install of BuddyPress.

Follow this procedure:

• Make a backup copy of your MySQL DB just in case
• Deactivate all BP-dependant plugins
• Deactivate BP
• Delete all the bbPress-specific tables in your DB
• Delete the old BP files located in the /buddypress/ directory
• Upload a fresh copy of BP 1.1.2, move the contents of /bp-themes/ into their proper place
• Reactivate BP
• Go to the forums setup submenu under the BuddyPress menu and select the “Set up a new bbPress installation” option

Does that solve the issue?

I’d love to be there for a BuddyPress meetup. I’m sort of a lurker but I’m making an effort to hook into the community! I’ll only be in for the daytime, though, since I’m commuting in from the ‘burbs.

John, can you give us the directory where the avatars are supposed to be? It can help me a lot to understand. Because I not only migrated from 1.0 to 1.1, I also change blog organisation by adding a blog to take care of all Buddypress stuff.

Before 1.1:

– only one blog : http://www.casualgames.fr, with buddypress page on the same base

After 1.1:

– the previous blog is still http://www.casualgames.fr but without any access so buddypress pages, all BP is on http://www.casualgames.fr/bp (a sub blog using buddypress theme)

buddypress sometimes show errors although it’s activated properly. But remember, there’s no activate/deactivate option for mu-plugins, so whatever bp plugin you have in mu-plugins has to be deleted (make sure you keep the copy at local) when upgrading.

Which version of wpmu and buddypress do you have?

There’re so far 2 themes available for 1.1.x series.

um…it shouldn’t cause anything if upgrading from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2.

Make sure you don’t have any bp plugins on both plugins and mu-plugins directories. And try manually upgrading buddypress.

with the latest build of buddypress I don’t recall having to add bbpress config files at all… it is all integrated within the buddypress plugin now… (unless you want to have a seperate backend for your forums.

Some files have been modified to allow translation and the .pot file is also a bit modified (due to missing strings at this time) from the original file in 0.1.1

Once a .pot file is available, i’m glad to translate it into german. I think u did an awesome job with this plugin. I’m still busy in coding a custom theme for our upcoming non-profit network, but once i’m dome with that the implementation and theming of ur plugin is #1 on my to-do list. The feature richnes of this early version and how u support it gave me enough confidence to trust this plugin and it’s future development. Many kudos to all your work!

Sounds like you’ve got files still in place. Can you make sure you’ve deleted all of your old BuddyPress files and try again? Or, maybe delete the buddypress directory entirely and try again?

No you can not do it in that way.You need to follow the process for migrating from wordpress to wordpress mu.

1.Export your posts/pages

2.take a backup of your wp-content directory

3.Take a backup of database(in case you need it to revert back)

4.remove the wp from server and install wpmu

5.Import the posts from your export file

6.Upload the uploads ,themes directory to wp-content/ in your new installation

If you have a website with thousands of posts,then export import may be trouble.you may follow this instructions in that case
