ParticipantNot wishing to be a party pooper but my vote DEFINATLY goes for getting the feature-set for BuddyPress MU complete before even looking to release for Single Instance WP… and that includes the yet to be implemented BuddyPress Photo Album component.

KeymasterJed, migrating from WP.org to WPMU is not a super simple task unfortunately. It is possible, but you are still diving into phpMyAdmin more than likely.
My advise for a migration is to do it at a time when your user base is low and the database is small so that you can manipulate the data easier.

If you don’t want the blog functionality but *might* want it later, you can still install WPMU and just disclude the BuddyPress Blogs plugin.

ParticipantPerfect, I hope it wont be too long because I prefer to have a social network without a blog/site as long we could migrate into WPMU later on.

Keymaster“in” a few weeks or “for” a few weeks.
There’s a distinct different in meaning there.

KeymasterI’m doing this via the bbGroups plugin, and some pretty in depth modifications to the bbPress theme.
I’m working on and off with Burt to try and pass BuddyPress xprofile info to bbPress, as my goal is probably the same as yours and most others; to have all information match across the entire website.
We’re working towards that goal, hopefully soon.

KeymasterThis is an easy one.
@bmg1227, are you using the included theme, or a custom one?
Do me a favor and anywhere in your index.php file in your theme, put
<?php echo "Hello there!" ?>Then access your post. If you see “Hello There” then my theory is correct, and your single.php file isn’t being accessed.
I think what’s happening is that your functions.php file isn’t divvying out the template file that it should be. Take the functions.php file from the stock BuddyPress Home theme, and copy it into whatever theme you’re using.
Tada!

ParticipantI have a feeling the only version that works now is on Andy’s test computer and will not be released for awhile!

ParticipantSo, are you saying that there is a version somewhere that will work now? Because I’d love to test it. I have a dedicated server and the current ver of WordPress. If you got a download then I got some time to test…

ParticipantTrent & Andy – just emailed you both the domain I’m testing this on. You can click on the comments in the recent comments widget, and you’ll see it takes you to the single page without comments. Just thinking I am missing an enable/disable comments option in the BuddyPress dashboard or something…

ParticipantSorry Brian, I am not sure what you mean exactly. You mean the comment not showing in sitewide feed or what exactly? You mean in the buddypress-home theme?

KeymasterIt is coming, it won’t be in a few weeks though.
There are a few things to work out first –
1. Registration fields on the standard WP register page
2. Performance on a shared host
Other than that it already works with a few minor changes I’m yet to commit.

ParticipantAndy, i’m using the last trunk. That includes the last update you made 4 days ago in member theme(as i can se in the trunk description). So my member-theme is updated. Maybe i can ckeck this wp_nonce()calls? you know how can i check it?
Excuse me for insisting on it, but the error is still there!
There are 2 online site with the same problems. http://www.culturizarte.com and http://www.buddypress-es.org, and maybe some more … I check this two ones, and there is the same problem.
Thanks a lot

ParticipantThanks for the link, I’ll give that a try but I still think there’s a larger issue here.
After letting it sit overnight I re-checked the activity feed this morning and though it has a few new items in now goes back over 3 weeks. In non-technical terms, it appears to not be recording most items and leaking the items it does record, eventually causing them to disappear from the feed.

MemberI’m building a facebook theme for Buddypress, and this is one of the things I’m trying to integrate into it. I don’t believe it would need a seperate front-end theme, just the same peice of code that appears in the friend activity feed provided in the original install.

KeymasterSounds like https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/543. Try applying that change and seeing what happens. It won’t update “old” activity, but should apply to ongoing activity.

Participant@gogoplata, I considered PHP Free Chat (and plenty others), installed it and tested it, and it’s ok. The reason I ended up with toksta is that it doesn’t put load on my servers and it has webcam support.

KeymasterbbPress is a standalone product, similar to WordPress MU and WordPress.org. The idea is to keep everything modular, and allow people to pick and choose what they want to use.
I think that the way that the Forums are implemented into BuddyPress will change once BackPress because a more mature API.
In the meantime, the forums work almost exactly like the wire does, but for groups instead. Groups also have their own wire, so in reality having a forum is a little redundant until someone takes the initiative to introduce some more functionality into the BuddyPress forum area.

ParticipantWhere can we get more info on this? This could possibly be huge. Just for the fact that most people who use wordpress aren’t that technical. So, if anyone has any data on this project I would like to see it.
Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag this is HUGE!!!

KeymasterSince you’re asking, I think maybe you should have let Andy announce this when it was time.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, I think it only makes sense to offer BuddyPress to the widest audience. In my opinion, BuddyPress does what everyone wishes WordPress would have done in the first place, so I feel like this was inevitable and a very good thing.
Btw David, I was the tall skinny guy that helped you get the projector working at your presentation.
