ParticipantThanks for your kindly answer.
I’ve another question about buddypress .

Is there a solution for this?

ModeratorTo change the name of tabs etc you need to look into setting up a custom translation file. All the visible labels are able to be translated, so you can change them how you like.
You can use poedit to create your translation file and WPT Custom Mo File to install the translation onto your site.

ParticipantI called them first, they said they weren’t set up to handle a buddypress social networking site that relies on email notifications. Did they tell you something different?

ParticipantSendGrid is the way to go. They have a small wrapper that plays nice with BuddyPress’s wp_mail API stuff.

ModeratorBuddyPress uses the WordPress user database, so I think this is more of a general WordPress issue than one specific to BuddyPress in that if you removed BuddyPress and allowed user registrations to WordPress you would still be faced with the same issue.
You could raise this as a bug on BuddyPress Trac. but I think it’s probably WordPress that would need to change.

Participant@emmanuel1234 you will need to customize directory based on logged in user xprofile values.
you can check https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-members-loop/May 10, 2018 at 6:54 pm #272905In reply to: Does not show description in the User Profile

ModeratorI don’t think I can advise you. BuddyPress does not some built in with a personal description. You can add one, in Dashboard>>Users>>Profile Fields, and it would be displayed during signup and in the users Profile>>View page. However, that’s not the default landing page for a profile, so it looks like your theme is overloading the users profile, and I think your theme developers would be best placed to ask.

ParticipantThe personal description should be added by users from their buddypress profile. How can it be done?

ModeratorHave you checked out https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/loops-reference/the-members-loop/ ?
By the looks of things you would call the members loop and pass in your own args specifying the search terms.

ModeratorChances are there is a conflict with either another plugin or your theme. Try it running just BuddyPress and a default theme such as 2017.

ParticipantThere is something wrong with either of your theme or your shortcode syntax. We’ve been using both Visual Composer +bbPress+BuddyPress for several years and we have no issues so far.
Take note that the theme must support buddypress or bbpress, atleast from the a simple stylesheet.
Check out this theme: http://flocks.dunhakdis.com/community-forums/ . The homepage uses bbpress shortcodes formatted inside a VC block.
Cheers

ModeratorYep that’s the WordPress Admin Bar. The only BP setting that affects this is that you can hide the entire bar for non logged in users via Settings>>BuddyPress>>Options.
As I said there’s a lot of plugins that will help you style this bar, just search WP Plugins for admin bar and you will find them.

ModeratorYou can take a look at https://codex.buddypress.org/emails/custom-emails/ and https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/function-examples/bp_notifications_add_notification/. technically all you need is to trigger them from either the post save hook
save_postor the follow creation hook, but putting this together is pretty complex, it’s not a first time project.May 9, 2018 at 5:53 pm #272873In reply to: Subscribe Button on Buddypress Profile

ParticipantAdditional info from WP Engine: You’ll need to reach out to Buddy press to let them know that when you have your Buddypress plug-in active you receive an error stating [COLLATION ‘utf8mb4_unicode_ci’ is not valid for CHARACTER SET ‘utf8″] Select content COLLATE utf8mb4 . When you deactivate the plug-in the error goes away. I’ve also attached a screenshot to share with them. You’ll want to find out through them what could be causing this error as it only occurs when their plug-in is active.

I’ll need to look more into the URL feature.
In any case, I noticed that it does BuddyPress integration pages for free o.o

Participant@omniscope Please make sure new users have verified their emails after registration. New Users will display inside the member’s directory only after their first login, it’s generated based on their last active timestamp.

Participant@erictracz BuddyPress will also be ready with GDPR compliance in coming updates.
There is an ongoing discussion about it.
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7698For 3rd party plugin concern, Site owners are ultimately responsible for the all the plugins they are using at their site, and they also have to understand the functionality of each plugin including their data collection and storage methods before using them.
Regarding 3rd party BuddyPress developers, after BuddyPress GDPR compliance release they can update their plugins to hook all user specific data at BuddyPress option which allow users to delete themselves.
@hdcms You can create a profile fields with terms & condition or take a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-terms-and-conditions-for-buddypress/ plugin.May 7, 2018 at 7:57 am #272808In reply to: GDPR compliance

ParticipantHello,
It’s a question of choice. Buddypress is like a big form.
I’m just asking for the possibility that there is a checkbox field at registration (with a link to a GDPR information page) that will no longer appear as a choice in the profile

ParticipantThe problem is that BuddyPress has so many 3rd party extensions that building a GDPR compliant community is virtually impossible. Consider this.
You use BuddyPress, plus some plugin for photos, other for location, another for videos etc. Even if BuddyPress will be GDPR compliant without those other plugins also hooking into it you CAN NOT assure that users can download all their data (it is one of the requirements). Right now, only PeepSo is fully GDPR compliant with the new release.
