I’ve been looking all around this site and others trying to find a place where you can identify people who are interested in working on a plugin to extend BuddyPress (i.e., a place to hire a developer). Does this exist yet?
Simple: following Easybutton´s tutorial
http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/04/30/integrating-buddypress-10-wpmu-and-bbpress/
With the invaluable help from Chris, I could have my setup up and running in no time.
In my case (and don´t ask me why, it is beyond my wisdom !) I had to erase the define codes at wp-config.php, step #24 from the tutorial posted above.
BP and bbP integration is total I think, posting to forums from groups is working too.
THANKS CHRIS !!!
I have not posted as a link cuz it messes the text, strange
I need to write a plugin or modify registration to generate the username from the fullname.
I use the email-login plugin, so I’d like to remove the username from the registration form.
The fullname field would require a real full name, so more than one part, first and last name – including middle names and whatever, the code would assume the first part is the first name.
Then there would have to be a function to make everything lowercase and remove spaces and put that into the username field – with all the regular checks and error messages.
The blog address would take that same username, based on the full name, as default option.
Would this be possible? How much of this is already in WordPress or Buddypress? Are there plugins that do parts of this? Is anyone working on something similar? Where should I start?
I’m not really a coder. I understand I’ll need to learn from scratch or hire someone. Just trying to get a better picture of where to start, what’s already there, etc.
I had started a similar thread here, but it went off the rails a bit. This thread is an attempt to refocus the question.
Hi,
I get the error below when trying to activate buddypress:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /home2/themakin/public_html/becomeyou/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-blogs.php on line 600
I have a blog hosted on bluehost.com. I recently created the blog so it is the most recent version of wordpress. I installed buddypress from within the admin panel and then when trying to activate, it gave me the error above (in fact, this is the second time, I tried and it gave me the same error before with a different line# – I think it was 102 before).
Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks,
Todd
This is something I found on a Russian blog while surfing:
http://jehy.ru/articles/2009/03/26/buddypress-plugins/
From the plugin page:
1) admin_profile_fields.php – Adds two fields to user profile – “score†and “levelâ€. Site administrator can edit those fields, others can only read.
2) restrict_viewing_by_level.php – based on the user level, restricts viewing of user blogs and profiles higher then your own.
3) post_content_level_filter.php – Adds a tag for hiding content from users of a lower level.
Could be useful as a base to extend upon.
Listing it here for reference only.
While I am activated the Facebook-Buddypress plugin, it looks like working, but i am receiving the following error message on the admin bar under the edit commnents button:
Warning: Missing argument 5 for fbc_get_avatar() in /home/web/cool/topmodels/wp-content/plugins/bp-fbconnect/includes/wp-facebookconnect/fbconnect.php on line 529
Can you tell me what should I change?
conf: BuddyPress latest version, WpMU latest version
Thanks, for your opinion!
