I’m working on another person’s install. Everything is working just fine as far as user integration. Everyone can log in/out via WP as well as bbPress. Keymasters have bbPress dashboard abilities.
The buddypress-enable.php plugin has been moved. XML-RPC is enabled on both bbPress & WP.
But here’s where I hit the snag. Nothing is moving from groups to forums. When creating new groups, discussion can’t be enabled & is replaced with the Attention Admin note.
Does this point directly to XML-RPC capabilites or is there something else that could be the culprit? I’ve tried the xml-rpc test and get the hello message.
Any help AT ALL would be greatly appreciated!!
What is the latest version of bbPress that’s compatible with BuddyPress 1.0.2?
I’ve been trying to get bbpress-1.0-rc-3 to work for an hour or so and just can’t get it. Integration works and the wire works but I can’t even FIND an option to enable discussion (even when there’s no “attention admin you must integrate bbpress” error)
Thanks
hola buddypressers – did any of you who are on MT DV get forums to work properly? and if so, what did you do? i’ve tried hooking up bbPress with BP/WPMU and i always wind up with “There was an error posting that topic.”
so before you ask, i’m running WPMU 2.7.1, BP 1.0.1 on a subdomain with subdirectories on a dedicated virtual server along with bbPress 1.0 RC-3. on my first couple of tries when i followed these directions http://trac.buddypress.org/browser/trunk/bp-forums/installation-readme.txt, i never got the option to select Admin for a dropdown menu. one time, i just created a new user and changed the role to admin that way. another time, i did get one option from the pulldown menu for the user that i had created in step #8 (from the previous installation attempt) and assigned admin/keymaster to it. both of those didn’t work.
so then i got a suggestion to read this thread http://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471, and tried alphas 4, 5 and 6 — all three of them presented me with a blank screen when i typed in the installation url (but bbp 1.0-rc3 worked every time whenever i visited the install link… i was paranoid enough to switch back and forth every time — alpha 4, blank >> rc3, works; alpha 5, blank >> rc3, works; alpha 6, blank >> rc3, works). afterward, i decided to hop on the bbpress forum to search for installation problems for those alpha version i had tried and stumbled on this discouraging thread http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/how-many-more-alphas-before-beta#post-24237, which made me lose all hope, lol.
so now, i’m down to something called curl lib, but i don’t know if that could be the problem either, but if there’s someone on there on MT’s DV who ran into the same problems as i did and managed to sort through them, please reply! if not, it’s not the end of the world. everything else is just dandy
It seems to me (and I may be alone on this) but when most people come to a member directory, then expect the letters at the top (A, B, C, etc) to refer to a person’s last name, not their first name. But that’s not how BuddyPress has it working. It make sense for people who are using an alias or username, but not for people who are using their real name.
It would be great, for example, if there was a way to see if there is a space in the name and make sure it gets put in the directory under the second (or last name) instead of the first name.
Any work around around for this?
Thanks
Topic: Site wide Activity Widget
I have an implementation of BuddyPress and WordPress MU going. I would like users to have their blogs created for them as they register, rather than it be an option. Any advice?
I have already installed a plugin that limits 1 blog per user and am looking for a solution that either duplicates or works along side that functionality.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Just a word of warning for those using WP’s object cache (WP_CACHE) as listed here:
http://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/improving-performance/
Comment the line out of your wp-config.php before upgrading!
WP_CACHE was caching my MU plugins page and wouldn’t show the upgraded BP so I could activate it.
You can re-enable it after you have upgraded.
I am currently using WPMU 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0.2 (site link http://www.edoberman.com)
When trying to create a blog it will allow me to create the blog, but once you try to go to the link it says the address can’t be found.
The blogs are being created as sub directories as follows:
******.edoberman.com
I have roamed the site long enough but I haven’t a concise document explaining how to put buddypress in a language other than English. It seems everyone has to devise their own way of doing things because what works for one is not working for the other.
Question: Can someone point me in the right direction. That is, I have finished translating buddypress to swahili and uploaded the files to the wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-languages. The plugin is not picking up the language though! What else am I gonna have to do?
