In writing a custom component for BuddyPress I need to determine whether the user is on any page within the Groups section of the site.
The problem is that
$bp->current_component == 'groups'returns true if the user is on the Groups page of a user’s profile too (eg on /members/[username]/groups/ ).How can I differentiate between the Groups section of the site and a Groups page in a user’s profile?

I am looking for parnter to create together plugin for buddypress.

– script takes names and desriptions all cuastomers fields from buddypress and create form
– in this form you can check fields used in search and what kind of search
– script generate search form
– you can install this form on the page and search users.
With this plugin easy to create, for example, dating service with buddypress.
In future I want to create search for distance with zipcodes.
I don’t know buddypress good and don’t have expirience to create plugins.
Please, help.
I will say that I have elected to delete some lines of code to remove some functions in the core files but they aren’t super critical, in my opinion.
Okay, as I’m sure you know, this type of sentence scares all of us who try to offer support.
The real question is this:
If you boil everything down to the lowest, common denominator (LCD), does everything work. This means using BuddyPress without any core mods, using the default themes, and not running any other plugins in WPMU except BuddyPress.
If everything works, then this is an issue caused by something you are doing. If you still have this problem, then you need to talk with your hosting firm or system admin (if you are in a business/institutional setting) because it could have something to do with your server setup (DB server maybe).
But, if everything works as it should when you’ve distilled the WPMU/BuddyPress install down to the LCD, then it clearly is something you’re doing. It could be your core hacking, the single-sign-on coding, a 3rd-party plugin conflict, any combination of changes. You need to go back to the bare bones foundation and then start adding stuff back, implementing your changes one at a time and throughly test in between each new change.

i like to use buddypress and now i want to use it for a bigger blogfarm. I have to migrate over 800 Users to Buddypress. Is there a way to manage this?

I am using WordPress MU 2.7.1 and buddypress 1.0.1 and Facebuddy Theme 1.0
This has now happened twice in two days, where I logout at night and attempt to log on a little later only to see this “blue screen of death” message:
This user has elected to delete their account and the content is no longer available.
I have done nothing of the sort. All files are in place.
I will say that I have elected to delete some lines of code to remove some functions in the core files but they aren’t super critical, in my opinion.
Remove the log choice from the profile drop down menu
Remove the edit profile button
Remove the edit profile sub nav selection
Remove the blogs from the drop down menu in the search function
Change the destination and name of the logout in the top bar
Other items that I have been working with a programmer to implement is a SSO. So he had provided a plugin to an external membership software that works with WordPress MU to register new members by passing their field information. I am wondering if that might also be causing this. That can’t be though because the user records are just written to the database.
This is really tough. So much work done now twice in personalizing Buddypress.
Any ideas?

From what i see it’s not a customizable slug

Many of my users complain about the confusing nav of the default theme but since I am still trying to get all features of my site to work, I haven’t had a chance to spend time on the theme aspects. I would love to be able to incorporate aspects of the buddypress.org theme on my site. Hoping copypress is able to release the theme
Hey all! First off, I hope all is well with everyone. I haven’t been around much lately and just wanted to say hi.
I’ve been working on a major server cleanup, BuddyPress included, and wanted to ask about a few things I’ve uncovered to determine if I’m the only one experiencing them (and if so why) and if not if there is a fix for the problem or if a ticket(s) needs to be created.
The first issue, and I believe I posted on this before but couldn’t find it, is that multiple avatars are being store for a single user. Basically, when a new avatar is uploaded to old one isn’t deleted, causing a build up of (in my case) hundreds of files and a lot of wasted space just for a single user. Multiply this across even a small community and it can be a big problem. Basically I was hoping to see if another install was behaving this way, and if so whether there’s a fix or if I should open a ticket. FYI I’m running 1.0.1.
The second issue I’m encountering, and this could be normal behavior but I can’t understand why, is that there’s dozens of avatar images stored under a user “0”. Again, looking to confirm if this is normal and if not create a ticket it looked at.

I’m currently creating a Buddypress theme and find that the default avatar size is too small. I’ve tried to put a filter in my functions.php file to overwrite the defaut CORE_AVATAR_V1_W constant.
But it seems that my function is never called. The value of CORE_AVATAR_V1_W still remain as the default.
Anybody knows another way to do this?
