I’ve just download the rc1 and testing locally on my wpmu 2.65.

I have a problem in every page related to the member-theme:

Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in C:xampphtdocsmuwp-contentmember-themesbuddypress-memberfunctions.php on line 14

I’m using the whole combo (except the css folder of the themes).

And the site activity feed now works: italian users should change some lines cause the translation contains some &agrave: attivitÃ insted of activity.

My BBPress installation cannot find my salt cookies even when I plug them into the install from wp-config.

They do not appear in my WPMU admin options menu.

I always get this message at the end of install:

Nevertheless, I get an email saying that the install was successful. But when I go to the BBPress admin in the WPMU dashboard it doesn’t see the installation.

Lets just say I installed BuddyPress MU with the wrong blog type, subdomain vs subdirectory.

Why is this hardcoded into the install and why can it not be undone or switched over? Lets just say I may have made a terrible mistake and really would like to switch to the other side. Ha!

A few random notes for now. I’ll add others as I proceed. Having reviewed the BuddyPress files in mu-plugins root for 1.0b1 and 1.0b2, I find a lot of the following:

Presentation of date and time differs from culture to culture. Its better to mark these as translatable strings than to hard code in a western standard.

My understanding is that when a text domain is used to denote a language file other than the main WordPress MU language file, it needs to be added to every marked string, not just the first marked string in a line.

I’ve found a couple of instances like this from line 63 of bp-blogs/bp-blogs-ajax.php:

_e( sprintf( 'Latest Post: %s', '<a>blog_id ) . '">' . apply_filters( 'the_title', $post[0]->post_title ) . '</a>' ), 'buddypress' );

That won’t be recognized. This will:

sprintf( __('Latest Post: %s', 'buddypress'), '<a>blog_id ) . '">' . apply_filters( 'the_title', $post[0]->post_title ) . '</a>' );

I also find a lot of instances of sentence fragments interspersed between segments of code. Syntax varies significantly between languages; sentence fragments are often untranslatable – without going in and tweaking the code.

Here’s what I have so far, line numbers only I’m afraid. I expect I’ve missed a lot even in these few files. Line numbers are from 1.0b2

bp_core.php: 785, 788

bp-friends.php: 261, 265, 271, 275

bp-groups.php: 1100, 1103, 1114, 1116, 1127, 1129, 1141, 1143, 1154, 1156, 1167, 1169

bp-messages.php: 372, 374

bp-xprofile.php: 577, 580

bp-blogs/bp-blogs-ajax.php: 53

bp-blogs/bp-blogs-ajax.php: 44

bp-blogs/directories/bp-blogs-directory-blog.php: 106, 177

If you’ll leave this string open, I’ll add to it as I go along.

Right now I’m not sure how to handle the group deletion on the bbpress side. I can delete the forum if the group gets deleted ya. However, when I thought about it I decided to let the site admin/keymaster handle that now manually. The situation I thought of was a group admin gets bent out of shape, deletes the group and there goes a huge group asset if I just blindly kill the forum. So that action in bp is just being ignored now.

The only major problem I have now is that group join/leave in the group directories doesn’t work. Doesn’t even join/leave the group much less do what it’s supposed to in xmlrpc to talk to bbpress. It works in the member theme fine. Some sort of conflict in that context I have to track down.

since you are on shared, you won’t have that option. i would try removing any additional plugins you have running, to eliminate those 1st. disable any through the site admin menu and remove anything other than buddypress in mu-plugins.

EDIT: also check and make 100% sure you have a .htaccess file, not just the htaccess.dist

Wow kudos for the in depth reply. I’m super excited to give this a shot, I’m actually waiting to go live until I see how this works.

I think it’s a great idea to keep things all synced up also. I made the mistake of adding a group forum in BuddyPress and deleting it in bbPress. Boy did that make things angry ha!

I’ve noticed even if I use what bbPressers call “deep integration” (including wp-load.php in bb-config.php) on the bbPress side, bbPress still seems to blast out the BuddyPress specific content. I’ve echoed the files and I know they are all getting included, they’re just not doing anything once bbPress gets a hold of it.
