Topic: How To: change navigation?
Hello,
I have been trying to find the file location of the profile and group navigation menus, with no luck. I would like to remove and change the name of a few links in the profile and group navigation menus. Example: I would like to change “forums” to “discuss” and remove the “members” from groups menu, etc. The menus I remove I would like to add to the side so it would still need to be functional. I am using wordpress 4.0 and buddypress 2.0.3 . I have made some other changes within wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ though I am having trouble finding where I can edit the navigation.

BuddyPress Version Version 2.1.1I am new to buddypress and i am using the latest version. I have a custom post type called rewards and it has a custom taxonomy with it. I have created groups which matching names respective to the rewards taxonomy. Every time a new reward is create it will have one or more “groups” associated with them.
Now the following code works on the member’s main activity feed.

1. within the rewards_activity_content function I cannot add the custom activity action name as such shown below

2. Based on the custom taxonomies that have been selected every time a new reward is created this needs to match the groups activity stream and a record needs to go in there for that particular group with the same
action and content namePlease tell me how I can acheive this

This is an error message that I am getting. I don’t know what the pages are that these need to be directed to. I may of turned them to drafts earlier to get rid of some broken links. Please advise as soon as possible.

I found a work around for buddypress that will stop spam and it is work around…not perfect, but it works. Here are the steps….
(1) Install the following plugin https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/bp-registration-options
(2) Setup the plugin by checking off all the settings
(3) Goto Buddypress settings ….select “Pages – Activate”
(4) Set Activate Page as “None”
(5) Create a standard wordpress page “Activation Notice” and add some text (ie: Your membership is awaiting approval by the Administrator with 48 hours. You will not be able to fully interact with the social aspects of this website until your account is approved. Once approved or denied you will receive an email notice.
The results as follows:
(1) Person will register and get the typical “Sign up Complete” message.
(2) The Admin will get a “Member Request” Message
(3) The user will get the standard “Activation E-Mail” which take the user to the “Activation Notice Page” that you created
(4) When you login as admin to wordpress buddypress site goto…..
BP Registration on Dashboard = You will see the 2 “Pending” User waiting for approval or denial
Users on Dashboard ….. All Users = You will see 2 “Pending” User waiting for activation or deletion
Now why 2 not just one….I am not sure why…it isn’t perfect. However, if you denial “User” from the BP Registration you will also need to delete user from the “User” Section as well.
This isn’t perfect and you still will get an e-mail activation notice sent but it DOES NOT activate the account by the user. The Admin will have 100% control over who is or isn’t accepted as member and it stops the spam.
I hope this helps and it also works without messing with code and such.

Topic: Sidebar Pushed to Bottom
I have latest version of BuddyPress installed with WP 4.1. I am using theme Dynamix. I installed a plugin called BuddyPress Wall. However, sidebar is now pushed to bottom. Any ideas? I like the comment feature of it, however, it I disable it then the standard comment button in BuddyPress doesn’t seem to work.

There’s any simple way to create a custom field using the component Extended Profiles of Buddypress that allows the user to upload a cover image? That cover image will than be showed in his profile page, below the profile image.Thanks

I have long been a fan of BuddyPress and bbPress, but I have never been able to finish a site using them. This is because I am unable to fully test their elements. I think that a lot of people would be willing to use BuddyPress and bbPress, but a few things prevent them from using them.
1. There’s no official BuddyPress and bbPress testing data. There are a few plugins, but they suck and don’t add data for most features. I’m talking about everything from demo users to custom profile fields to testing heading, paragraph, quote, and list elements in the forums and BuddyPress activity. Without full testing data, I am unable to finish a design, and this is way too much work for me, a non-developer of BuddyPress, to figure out and do. WordPress has official test data, so where is bbPress’ and BuddyPress’? I need it, and I guarantee a lot more people would design their websites to use BuddyPress and bbPress if we had it.
2. There’s no good way to reset the stylesheet for BuddyPress or bbPress so that I can style their elements from scratch, from what I’ve seen. Starter WordPress themes such as Underscores are blank and perfect across browsers, allowing one to develop a completely custom feel for their site, unbiased of any developer-chosen styles. I need that for BuddyPress and bbPress too. Hacking or child-theming BuddyPress’ default stylesheets is not what I would consider a good solution to custom design.
3. This is a bbPress-exclusive problem, but I’ll say it anyway. Very few people want to use bbPress, and that’s only for two purely-aesthetic reasons: One, category-type “forums” are treated visually like forums and put all their sub-forums in an inline list. Nobody ever wanted or asked for that. They want “categories” to look like dividers between groups of forums so that they’re easier to digest, just like every other forum software. No other software does this like bbPress, and that’s why everyone uses other forum software. It just looks unpleasant and hard to read, and cuts the real forums’ meta information out of the board index.
Two, people need images to separate hard-to-digest blocks of text. That is a fact that every good writer knows. One of the ways almost every forum system accomplishes this is by creating an icon in front of every forum on the board index. Forums often make them more practical by making the icons change when all the topics inside those forums have been read. But bbPress doesn’t use icons in front of forums on the board index, and let me tell you– that is the FIRST thing everyone I’ve ever shown bbPress sees, and it is the FIRST reason people decide they dislike bbPress. These icons are necessary for the readers’ eyes, and everyone knows it. For the love of god, fix this so I and everyone else will want to choose bbPress upon first look over other forum software.
Finally, I choose bbPress and BuddyPress due to their integration of features with WordPress. It’s why I tell everyone to use BuddyPress if it helps their community, and why I tell everyone that they SHOULD use bbPress with WordPress instead of third-party forums. However, few people do use either system, and I have a really hard time developing with both due to a lack of reset styles, a lack of testing data, and a lack of the visual functionality in bbPress that other forums have. Please fix this stuff. If not for me, then for the sake of not discouraging tens of thousands of potential users like you probably already do.
I love BuddyPress and bbPress. Please make it easier for me to develop sites with them. Thank you.
